Ben Affleck, who checked into rehab way back in 2001 to battle alcoholism, was reportedly pAArtying it up at the Sundance Film Festival this past weekend.
A source says that Affleck, who was attending the after party for his new film The Company Men, "immediately sat down at VIP table and grabbed a bottle of Absolut in front of him and poured a drink." His publicists and staffers then told all photographers in the area to peace out while while Ben knocked back drinks with Tommy Lee Jones.
Well at least he wasn't with Lindsanity!
In all seriousness though, we hope this is a one-time fluke for Ben! You're an admitted alcoholic! Get your shiz together, you have a wife and two adorable children at home!

What's dangerous is that in rehab programs folks are told they can NEVER EVER EVER touch the substance they abuse ever again…or else! Imagine the pressure! Ben Affleck should be applauded for demonstrating that he can CONTROL a formerly out of control problem. Scaring people into abstaining is a recipe for disaster, but teaching people how to control themselves if and when they DO touch alcohol or drugs again is socially responsible. Instead of a nation of people who haven't had a drink in 10 years but would destroy themselves and their lives if they had one sip, we'd have a nation of people who have gotten their vices under control to the point they can still indulge from time to time without harming themselves or anyone else in the process.
See this just goes to show how disconnected you are from these celebrities(minus gaga's shitpants)

I'm sure he's been off the wagon for a very long time. He is almost never seen with Jennifer and she always has sort of a worried look on her face. He was doing something shady while making that movie with that Gossip Girl too. Something's just not quite right with him.

not every ex-alcoholic believes that alcoholism is a disease or that if they go off the rails once in their lives they cant ever have a drink again.
thats just a way of making you an alcaholic for the rest of your life.
sometimes a person finds themself relieing on alcahol too much during a period in their lives and they seek help for that. once they are past that period of their lives (and after 9 years, a marriage and two kids id say hes past) theres no reason to think they should avoid alcahol.

Actually he went to rehab for Gambling, not Alcohol. The joke when he went in was that he kept winning way more than he lost, so its not a real "problem". His partying at Sundance doesn't mess up anything for him addiction wise.

If you are an alcoholic, you can never have a drink again. Period. I'm not saying that Ben Affleck is one, but you can't teach moderation to someone with this disease. One drink will lead to two, three, etc. It is a chronic, progressive disease that will eventually kill you. There is one solution - it's simple, but not easy - do not take that first drink. Normal drinkers can be socially responsible and drink in moderation, those are the people you are talking about here.

Then that person is not an alcholic. There's no such thing as an "ex-alcholic" - once an alcholic, always an alcholic. There are people who are problem drinkers, or who drink and are able to stop. They are not alcoholics.
Will see how this play's out a year from now too early to tell just yet.
