It's Official! Avatar The Highest Grossing Movie Of All Time!!!

For the second time in history, the Titanic has been suck. Time to let go Jack!

Twentieth Century Fox has just released the official numbers and Avatar has earned $1.859 billion worldwide in just 39 days, officially surpassing Titanic's record.

It's well on it way to overtaking Titanic's $600.8 million domestic revenue record within the coming weeks (Avatar has $555 million) and there is even speculation that with multiple Oscar nominations within James Cameron's reach, this box-office juggernaut may actually achieve the impossible - a $2 billion worldwide profit!

It could happen!

Surely, James Cameron is feeling like the king of the world!

Perez, didn't you state at the time of it's release that it has flopped at the box office ??

  2. 2

lol, remember when Perez said that Avatar was a bust?

  3. 3

Top grossing film by MILES if you adjust for inflation is and will always be 'Gone With The Wind'. It was in the top 10 grossing films of the decade for the 30s, 40s, AND 60s!!!

  4. 4

p-dawg, i think you mean SUNK in the first sentence… got something else on your mind, eh???

  5. 5

Wait, Perez, wait! I thought you said this film was a flop???? I thought you said it was a failure and no one was seeing this movie?

You are so smart, Perez. So smart.

  6. 6

    like 2/c Cameron and T.
    the bezt ”thriller movie”
    2 great

  7. 7

    'Profit' is different than 'revenue'

  8. 8

I'm kind of sick of this movie :(

  9. 9

cracker jack team you got there fatboy. it's sunk.

how do your minions not notice that?

  10. 10

Well you did have to pay 3 extra dollars for 3-D….

  11. 11

How long before the self-styled King of the World trades in this current blonde wife, like he did Linda Hamilton after "Titanic"?

  12. 12

Perez, hate to bring this up, didn't you originally say this movie was a box-office disaster? Just curious, how stupid do you feel?

Well, I think that many things have to be taken into account. Avatar is in 3D, which means that people had to pay not only for their ticket but also for their 3D glasses, which surely helped. Also, the price of tickets has increased since 1997. So when you think about it, Titanic really is still #1. The European system is way more precise, because it calculates the number of people who have seen the movie instead of the amount of money that movie has made at the box office.

  14. 14

this movie was cool….. but I liked Titanic better…

  15. 15

So is it still a flop?

  16. 16

  17. 17

These figures are misleading. If you go by ticket sales, Avatar is #26 on the list. Gone With the Wind is well ahead of any other movie. If today's ticket price was applied to back in the '30s, GWTW's gross would never be caught.

you fat son of a bitch, and u said this movie was a bomb. you loser.

woop woop, loved this movie glad its done so well, and other people loved it to :)

What about number of tickets sold? That's the real key to measuring success. Highest grossing movie means nothing to me, show me the ticket numbers.

Avatar, aka Dances With Smurfs :D I love Southpark

I went to see Avatar in 3D and WOW was all I could say at the end.
Me and my two friends agreed that it was one of the best movies we have seen.
I am so happy it is getting the attention it deserves with how many tickets are being sold.
I am a HUGE twilight fan (sorry), but Avatar compared to Twilight…. Wow….. Twilight looks like a student film.
I was blown away by Avatar, and I hope it keeps continuing on the road to even higher success!

  22. 22

    AMAZING MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  23. 23

Shoot, I wanted to see this movie even before no one knew the trailer was out.

  24. 24

Hello inflation! Gone with the Wind should be number one, followed by Titanic then Avatar. The numbers should count people attending not dollar amount. Its not an accurate count.

  25. 25

wow perez must be feeling a bit of an idiot for branding it a flop!

  26. 26

I don't get it. The film wasn't all that. Mediocre at the very best. Not boring, but far from being anything close to wow.

  27. 27

Adjusted for inflation, Gone with the Wind is the biggest money making movie of all time.

  28. 28

hey Perez, didn't you say last month this movie was sucking at the box office? did you even see it yet?

  29. 29

    Proof-read much, Perez?

  30. 30

Damn it, the only good thing about Avatar is the animation.

  31. 31

    So, you were wrong again!

  32. 32

didnt you call avatar a flop? didnt you also say the story about michael jackson being very sick and near death was bs? you are easily to dumbest person on earth, and the worst "reporter" also, your "economic" stats are laughable.. just give it up, you tub of shit

  33. 33

  34. 34

lol I still haven't seen it!!!!

  35. 35

    Lucky him

  36. 36

SUNK not SUCK, perez! get your damn writers a dictionary!
    and btw AVATAR rocks!

  37. 37

3D cinemas charge more, so money wise, Avatar leads, but it is different if actual NUMBERS OF VIEWERS are used, then Avatar will fall back. Besides Cameron does not make the list of the top ten best film directors like Kubrik,Kurosawa,Truffaut,Hitchcock, Spielberg etc.
