One way that doctors test people is to ask them to open a door just wide enough so that they would fit through it but not one inch more. Then the doctor measures the actual amount of space it would take for that person's body to just fit inside the doorframe; and in people who have this mental illness, the two numbers are very different (usually women think they are much larger than they really are.)
