Katy Gets Fiesty With Kara On Idol!

Sharing judging duties with Simon, Randy, and Kara last night on American Idol was Katy Perry. Things were going smoothly, until Katy got fed up with Kara during one of the hopeful's auditions.
The girls disagreed over the guy's talent, Kara calling the contestant one of her favorites, while Katy wasn't impressed. In an attempt to get Katy to take her said, Kara rattled off the guy's story of hardship, to which Katy replied: "This isn't a Lifetime movie."
After that, there was a noticeable tension in the room and Kara had to concede that Katy had "told" her!
Guess we shouldn't expect her to be invited back next year?

I thought Katy was extremely rude to Kara and to that contestant last night. I respect everyone's opinion but there is a way to go about it. It just wasn't necessary to be ungracious like that.

I thought Katy did great. Kara was fixed on a non-talent aspect of the audition. I respect Katy's opinion more. And she's pretty young to know that Lifetime Movie analogy.

I thought Katy was a little bitchy but it was fun watching Kara squirm. It's obvious that Kara thinks she's going to be as popular as Simon and Katy took her down a notch. And yeah, that guy was marginally good but Katy was right, no one should be judged on background stories alone. It's nice to watch a person overcome a hardship and be successful but that's not a reason for putting them through to the next round.

I was totally shocked by Katy's attitude on the show last night. It was disgusting. I think her bf encouraged her to be a bitch, and she listened. I've never seen her be such a bitch before! I'm pretty sure she lost some fans last night, and she doesn't have that many left to lose. She needs to get her head outta her ass. She tried to say she had a hard life growing up - but compared to the poor guy who lived in foster care his whole life??? Come on Katy, you didn't have it THAT bad. The guy was a great singer, had a great look, and a sad story. We'll just have to see how he does from this point forward, but I'm rooting for him, for sure. Katy can kiss my ass.
kara is annoying as crap this season. she's always cutting off the more interesting/ usually cooler/ prettier guest judges and trying to be the center of attention. i think it was great that someone put her in her place! i hope ellen does the same!

and did you notice the proactive commercials? the one in the first half hour featured lavigne and the one in the second half featured perry. guess proactive now owns a.i. i think the whole thing is one great big fix at this point.

2) If you paid attention, the "lifetime movie" guy was the LAST contestant seen of the night. That is not where the tension started, its where it ended. They then showed the rest of the arguing that happened that day leading up to that last contestant.

Honestly I lost a lot of respect for Katy last night on idol. It's okay to be a tough judge (Take Simon for instance.. He's one tough cookie, yet, I still respect him.)
But Katy was just down and outright RUDE. And not just to the contestants, but to the judges (Kara, specifically) in front of auditioning contestants.

I like them both so I was sad to see the tension between them. Kara i think is trying to find her place now that Paula is gone and that's creating room for someone like Katie who has a very strong personality to overpower her. The guy was a decent singer but I agree with Katy, American Idol is a SINGING competition and they spend way too much time doing profiles on these people and their sob stories. The fact that your father is in jail and your mother is super proud of you but you just got in 3 car accidents and your dog died and you have a history of drug issues and you almost died 7 years ago should have nothing to do with the audition process. If you're a good singer, you're a good singer. Thats all I care about.
