The remains of the 20-year-old Virgina Tech student who was last seen at a Metallica concert in Charlottesville in October have been found.

Morgan Dana Harrington went missing during the concert held on October 17th, and Harrington's family and friends launched a search effort for their missing loved one almost immediately.

Sadly, her remains were discovered on Tuesday in a "remote field" 10 miles away from the concert venue.

Metallica has released the following statement on the band's official website, offering their condolences and urging anyone who has any information regarding Harrington's death to contact the Virginia State Police.

Write the legendary hard rockers:

Our most sincere condolences go out to the family and friends of Morgan Dana Harrington, the 20-year-old Virginia Tech student who was last seen while attending our concert at the John Paul Jones Arena in Charlottesville, VA.

Sadly, Morgan’s body was found yesterday ending her family’s three-month vigil hoping and praying for her safe return. Mere words cannot express the anguish and grief that we know her parents Dan and Gil are feeling, and our thoughts are with them.

If you have any information at all about Morgan’s death, please contact the Virginia State Police at (434) 352-3425 or the UVA Police at (434) 352-3467 or police@virginia.edu.

So, so sad.

thank you for posting this. it means a lot coming from a resident of charlottesville and a frequent visitor of john paul jones arena

    2. 2

wish this one didn't end this way. wish she had been found alive and safe. wish they would find the bastard who did this and string him up by his junk to die slowly.

    3. 3

I hope they get the motherfuckers that did this!

    4. 4

      this is old news.

    5. 5

Re: redmond – Amen to that. So sad and scary!

    6. 6

Damn,Virginia Tech is officially the deadliest campus.

    7. 7

      how did she die?
did she get stabbed? shot? I want to know.

    8. 8

Let that be a lesson to you all. Dont go to a Metallica concert.

    9. 9

Ugg I was so afraid of this. I had been to that concert. So tragic. I hope they find the people that did this.

    12. 12

wtf is wrong with virginia tech?!

    13. 13

Like The Doors said .. There's a killer on the road …
      *
Rest in peace beautiful girl. Hopefully the person or persons who did this will get some sort of justice.
      *
I kept thinking, as tragic as this turned out, at least they found her. It has to be better to at least be able to lay yout child to rest than to never know what happened to her or him.
      *
      God bless her family.

    14. 14

Very sad news. May she rest in peace…

    15. 15

That really breaks my heart. I was hoping for a positive outcome. Kudos to Metallica for caring and to you, Perez, for posting this. :(

    16. 16

Re: lilacfunk – I read your post and I have to agree that Virginia Tech has had a lot of tragedies but this horrific crime happened about two and a half hours north of VaTech. She was a VT student while in Charlottesville.

    17. 17

Black T-shirt, black mini-skirt, black tights with knee-high black boots.
I know she was at a Metallica concert, but is it a possibility she was 'working'?
There weren't many girls in college that had knee-high boots in their closet.

    18. 18

Prayers to give her loved ones strength. RIP.

    19. 19

This did NOT happen at Virginia Tech! She was hundreds of miles away from VT!

My heart goes out to her family.

    20. 20

That's terrible :( Her family must be heartbroken. RIP and may they found out what happened!!

    21. 21

      R.I.P.

    22. 22

She looks like a complete idiot so I'm not surprised she ended up dead.

    23. 23

So sad and so very sensless! May her soul be resting in Heaven!

    24. 24

Re: Nostradamus – wow. really cruel and uncalled for. she was a college girl who went to the show with friends. she was smart, sweet and a lovely young lady. i hope your family never has to listen to this kind of crap about you someday if, heaven forbid, something awful ever happens to you. what a heartless and nasty thing to say.

    25. 25

Re: Nostradamus – that's cold. She is dead…

    26. 26

At least she got some joy before she died… I'd die to hear 'Master of Puppets' and 'One' live.

      Very sad :(

    27. 27

I wish this didn't end the way it did. I hope they find the bastard who did this to her.

Re: Nostradamus – Have you EVER been to a metal concert? Keep comments like that to youself and have a little respect.

    28. 28

Re: lilacfunk – No it's not…we just get more media attention. Plus, this did not happen anywhere near VT, so please stop slandering my school

    29. 29

      OK thats a start
now what about all the innocent people that were tortured in Gitmo and members of metallica laughed at the u.s. using their music as a means of torture.. any comments ? now your sad about someone dying????
      bbooooooooo

    30. 30

metalheads are usually violent fuck ups, not surprised this happened…still very sad!!

    31. 31

That is very sad. I hope they found out what happened and who is responsible. Poor girl.

    32. 32

Girls, don't get in the car with anyone you don't know, especially at a heavy metal concert. I'm not saying this is what happened but I know I have done it. Lucky for me I was into R&B and God was with me. Guys are just not as decent as they used to be. It's very, very sad. RIP

    33. 33

something isnt right about this story, on tv they said she went to the bathroom then ended up outside. then they said she called her friends & told them that she had a ride home. This story is just fishy to me.

    34. 34

People wore black tees and jeans to Metellica concerts in my day. (which wasn't that long ago)
She left the venue with the suspect(s) willingly. No one witnessed a struggle.
      Just the facts Ma'am.
      *
'The Auge' is only one who said she deserved it.
I'm just sayin' bad stuff might happen when you decide to dress up like a slut and hook up with some strange dude(s) you just met at a Metellica concert.
It's not like some girl was studying in her dorm room and the boogey man broke in and kidnapped her. Not saying she deserved it, others should learn from her decisions.

    35. 35

may she be at peace, send my condolences to her family!

    36. 36

ten miles away from the arena? What this town didn't have a helicopter when this girl went missing? I mean come on did anybody even look for this poor girl. So young to lose her life and some maniac is out there loose and probably going to do it again. This world is so screwed up…

    37. 37

Re: tom951 – uhm! maybe try not wearing a pantera t-shirt at a metallica concert?? in her last seen info she was wearing a pantera t-shirt..psycho metallica fans prolly did that.

    38. 38

Re: Nostradamus – You should probably think things through before you say them. If you've been to a metal concert or actually knew any cool college kids, you'd know that A-it's not difficult to get ahold of boots like that and B-people who often attend these concerts probably have boots. You've got to be the most insensitive ass anyone's ever seen. And if you actually knew her, you'd know that she'd never "work." Get a heart you jackass.

    39. 39

That's so, so sad. This world is sick….

    40. 40

As another C'ville resident (who has been following Perez for YEARS), I also appreciate the coverage of the Morgan Harrington case. Her family is lovely and nothing she did…I repeat NOTHING…made her deserve to meet this fate. Bless the man who found her on his property, her family for having the endure this suffering, and the C'ville community for rallying around the Harringtons.

    41. 41

Re: beffuhknee – it's actually recent news. they found her yesterday morning

    42. 42

Re: The Audge – are you serious? that is the worst thing i've heard ever. you don't say that about someone

    43. 43

Re: Nostradamus – there hasn't been proof that she left with the suspects willingly. and jsut because someone didn't witness a struggle, doesn't mean there wasn't one.

    44. 44

Re: Tracey780 – we do have a helicopter and it was used. maybe if you people knew the facts, it would make your comments a lot less fucked up. also, there were so many search teams around the university and town. hundreds of volunteers signed up to search for her.

you people need to learn your facts

    45. 45

jeez i remember this story when she first went missing. is it just me does virginia tech have the worst luck since the guys who opened tutankhamuns tomb? seriously. is there any kind of reason why this colleges students keep having bad things happen to them?

    46. 46

Nostradamus I've been to lots of rock concerts and there lots of girls who where black mini skirts, knee high boots and fish net stockings and i live in a country loving city so i think it's a bad comment to say is she working, she's a college girl wanting to have fun with friends at a concert.

The Audge that's a pretty pathetic comment you seem to judge people without meeting them how sad.

      R.I.P Morgan

    47. 47

Re: Nostradamus – errr what? did you seriously just accuse a dead girl of being a prosititute? on the basis she was wearing knee boots? how are you reading this back there in 1857? oh and by the way *smacks you in the head with own pair of knee boots* and theres another four pairs where that came from - and im a student.

    48. 48

      Re: thorntonsa

people also should read the news or at least pay close attention.

    49. 49

This isn't the place to talk about what she did or didn't do. Don't judge. Respect Morgan and her family and let the poor girl rest in peace.

    50. 50

this stuff happens wayyyyyyy to often. why are there so many fucked up pepople out there??

    51. 51

so sad, but at least her last hours of living she had a great time with metallica, at least

    52. 52

Re: The Audge – I bet you look worse so shut up or u might be next, she is dead, have a little respect

    53. 53

Re: mm1234 – no one said it happened at Virginia Tech, she was a student there that's all…chillax

    54. 54

Re: Nostradamus – oh you poor thing get help…mommy never gave you the boob. It is SO obvious!

    55. 55

Re: HiHater – lol…I'm sorry but that just reads funny. Truth be told, don't get into cars with guys you don't know at an R&B concert either

    56. 56

Re: Nostradamus – where are you from freak a leek? I'm a woman and I am here to tell your ignorant ass that MOST college women have black boots in their closet along with sexy clothes for when they go out…what the fuckity fuck is wrong with you? serious weirdo you are

    57. 57

Re: The Audge – someone needs attention……awwww.

    58. 58

more shit happens at V-Tech than any other school in north america. the school needs to come with a disclaimer. (ie: attending V-Tech will probably result in, but is not limited to, getting shot, stabbed, raped, maimed, dismembered, kidnapped ect ect.) Seriously, this school needs to add a multitude of psych evaluations as part of their acceptance. Good Luck to all those currently attending, and don't forget your bullet proof vests.

    59. 59

odds are she was a victim of a satanic sacrifice, a large majority of young people that go missing are sacrificed by satanists, but mainstream media can't tell you sh*t like that.

      Re: o3mta3o

seriously..how old are you? Obviously you are too immature to realize that your comment is dumb. There are so many schools in the US that have crime: kidnapping, shootings, rapes, etc. Just because something bad happened at VT 3 years ago, doesn't mean that "more shit happens" there. I don't see anyone saying shit about Northern Illinois–who also had a mass shooting, I mean seriously…grow up. If you don't go there, you have no idea what goes on. In fact, it is one of the least crime-ridden college campuses, so next time you are going to slander someone/something…think about what you are saying first.

    61. 61

My heart goes out to her family. I was praying this would not be the outcome. No one should EVER have to suffer the loss of a loved one in such a senselessly violent manner and I hope they catch the beast(s) that committed this horrible crime and FAST!

    62. 62

Re: Nostradamus – What an utterly disrespectful thing to imply about someone who is not around to defend herself!! You clearly have no fashion sense or you'd know that knee high boots were all the rage this past Fall and Winter!

      OMG, idiots…EVERYWHERE!!!

    63. 63

Re: The Audge – How sad for you that you have to live with your miserable self each and every day. USELESS PIG SHIT!

    64. 64

This did not happen at VT or anywhere near there, VT is in Blacksburg not Charlottesville. She was a student there. The John Paul Jones Arena is part of the University of Virginia. No one knows what exactly happened, her remains were found in a field that you can only get to by 4wheeler or walking.

    65. 65

Re: LusciousLiz – I know it was stupid. I'm just saying I was lucky. LOL

    67. 67

Re: Nostradamus – Whhhaattt? I don't know a single woman who does NOT own a pair of knee high black boots (or brown). Except maybe my 87 year old grandmother, and I think even SHE has a pair from back in the day. Fashionable, comfortable, can be worn with jeans, with skirts, with leggings, or while riding horses (see yesterday's Dior Haute Coutoure post). Just because someone wears high boots doesn't mean they're a slut, just because someone is a slut doesn't mean they're a prostitute, and even if they are a prostitute, they don't deserve to be treated badly or violently. Really? I'd like to see the unfashionable people you hang out with. When was the last time you even WENT to a concert?

    68. 68

Re: beffuhknee – old news really? they just found her remains yesterday you twit.. thats not old at all

    69. 69

Re: Tracey780 – you wouldnt believe how many people searched for this young lady… weeks and weeks…day and night… we live in a very remote area.. very "country".. lots of hay fields and winding dirt roads…oh they looked for her.. dont even suggest that they didnt
