Miramax Goes Out Of Business

Miramax closed their doors today after rumors have been swirling for awhile that the studio was going under.
80 people will lose their jobs and 6 movies are awaiting distribution that will probably never come.
Back in October the Disney-owned studio said that Miramax would be reducing the number of films they release annually to consolidate operations which was a strong indicator that it wasn't heading in a good direction.
Harvey Weinsten said of Miramax:
"I'm feeling very nostalgic right now. I know the movies made on my and my brother Bob's watch will live on as well as the fantastic films made under the direction of Daniel Battsek. Miramax has some brilliant people working within the organization and I know they will go on to do great things in the industry."
Sad.

This business was failing when the Weinsteins sold it to their friends at Disney who helped the Weinsteins walk away with a pot of cash.
Disney is getting drained dry of money
:(
They went under rather then sell back to Haaaaaaaarvey.
Very sad indeed. But one thing: Disney do NOT give the catalog films or even the brand back. The Weinsteins can't even control their own Weinstein Company. Seriously don't let the Weinsteins f#ck up Miramax again. Don't forget - they left in the first place.
fucking mirimax!
Somewhere Troy Duffy is laughing right now… Creator of The Boondock Saints…
But importantly, how will this effect Kevin Smith? That's what everyone is more concerned with then the Weinsten's.
With Miramax gone, more movies will be made that were flagged or should I say black balled by them.
[GASP]] no wayyyyy
Sad, very sad. Miramax was one of the first studios to pick up independent movies & distribute them. They also released a lot of foreign movies, documentaries. It's a sad day indeed.
Very, very sad indeed!
good riddance i hope the leave for sure
Who will distribute "Pokemon: 2010 the Movie" now?
