R.I.P.
Acclaimed author of Catcher in the Rye J.D. Salinger died yesterday morning.
Reports say that Salinger died of natural cases in his home in Cornish, N.H.
He was 91-years-old.
Our condolences got out to his family and loved ones.
We can't think of anyone who didn't read that book in high school! Even though he's no longer with us, he has left a legacy that will last for countless generations to come.

first
thats sooo sad
The serial killer book of choice!
Bummer, too bad you can't die next!
HE LIVED A LONG LIFE, DIED AT 91. RIP. WISH PEREZ WOULD KICK THE BUCKET ASAP.
oh shit thats sad.. RIP.. catcher in the rye was an awesome book so much profanity lol
He complained about phoneys in that book — that describes you to a "T"
Love to see R.I.P. over your name, or preferably burn in hell fatboy
@Novel1 Hahaha! That's so true! But this is one of my favorite books. Rest in peace, J.D. Salinger.
You mean the book about the whiny college kid?
I didn't read that in high school. The smart kids where I went go to read all sorts of boring stuff that the regular kids didn't.
He is truly someone who's legacy will live on forever. That book will be read and enjoyed for many many years to come. He certainly left an impression.
What a great man and an awesome book. It's on my Top 20 list.
RIP. Another piece of my youth gone just like that. Sad.
I never read that book. What is it about?
Actually, that book really isn't that great. I am sure I will get dissed or saying that but I don't care.
Catcher in the Rye is one of the best books in history.
Even Axl Rose read it. He wrote a song about it too.
RIP J.D. Salinger.
read it as a sophomore in high school and i was the only one in my class who really enjoyed…so much that i bordered on loving it. i don't know what that says about me but RIP Salinger.
Re: Stephanie – Can you elaborate on why it isn't a good book? I'd love to hear your winning opinion.
This guy was a Class A PERVERT with a huge ego. And I really do meran pervert, preying on liitle girls.
But he was a one trick pony that never did another thing, and his book hasn't stood the test of time. Light weight and childish.
R.I.P so sad
He was an amazing writer, his books are legendary. Catcher in the Rye is one of my favorites. His legacy will live on forever.
he was my favorite writer in the world!!
GoodBye J.D.,Goodbye Holden Caulfield!
He will be missed, Rest in Peace may the lord welcome you with open arms!!!!
Yes, yes. It is quite a shame that we lost the most overrated author in the history of American Literature.
Re: giorgio85 – Umm..he only wrote one book and everyone seems to have jizzed themselves reading it until they grew up and read it again.
It's also comforting to know someone died of natural causes at an old age. They lived a good long life and died peacefully. My prayers are with his family.
In school i liked Lord of the Flies alot better.
catcher in the rye is one of the most overrated books , I think.
It's about a whiny , depressed kid who is actually well-off and has no reason to complain wandering around new york calling people phonies.
R.I.P.
He was my favourite author and The Catcher and the Rye was my favourite book.
Wait…you mean he wasn't dead already? Really? Weird.
Re: lopezfanyeah – hasn't stood the test of time? yeah, i guess it's not considered one of the best books of all time, and one of the most read ones as well. and as for being a one trick pony…. have you read any of his other work? it's brilliant. sure, CITR gets most of the attention, but franny and zooey, nine stories, and raise hight the roofbeam are all classics.
Re: The Voice of Reason – umm he wrote more than one book genius
I wonder, now that's he's passed, if he's completed other projects since he stopped writing for the public that will be published posthumously. It'll be 50 years from now until we get to see a film adaptation of catcher in the rye. His estate will never sell the rights. It'll have to wait until it's public domain.
God bless him! He changed literature and he changed my life. RIP.
This author changed literature and lives with one book…kind of makes you think, doesn't it?
Re: tmarie26 – Read it at your own risk. It's about taking off your rose colored glasses, for starters. It pulls no punches and it is a work of art.
«Catcher» showed me a north when I was just 15. Thank you, man, for the path you gave to me in such a bad time (1968).
GOD BLESS YOUR SOUL!
For anyone who's read The Catcher in the Rye, then you should recognize the impact it made. It pretty much changed my whole perspective on life, and the characters of other people. R.I.P. JD. You lived a long life and left a longer legacy.
Re: tmarie26 – Go to the library and educate yourself kid. But read it at your own risk. Its pretty grown-up.
Catcher in the Rye is my favorite book! That book is absolutely AMAZING! R.I.P.
Re: helen2009 – lol just to let you know I'm 20 now. We read a lot of classics in high school but this was not one of them.
