Gays Turned Away From Super Bowl!

| Filed under: TV NewsGay Gay GayZportzLGBT

There will be more gays tuning in then anyway.

CBS has denied a gay dating site's bid to broadcast a commercial during the Super Bowl. The network told the Web site that the ad roster was already full, but sources say that a handful of spots still remain unsold!

A spokesperson from ManCrunch.com called the rejection a clear "form of discrimination"and that the network was giving them the "runaround."

Normally, we'd tell them to relax and remind them of the fact that CBS has spent the last few years trying to avoid any kind of controversy (thanks again, Janet!), but we've come to learn that while CBS wouldn't approve Man Crunch's ad, they did accept an anti-abortion spot from the group Focus on the Family that features college football star Tim Tebow and his mother.

What the hell? How did that one sneak through?

We really don't see the big deal with the ad, especially when you compare it's message to that of an anti-abortion one!

Check out the ad and tell us what U think. (above)

If it's true they rejected this and allowed Tebow, that totally sucks donkey dicks.

  2. 2

This commercial is stupid and shouldn't be aired anywhere.

  3. 3

LOL. Imagine those macho straight guys watching this! they go crazy

  4. 4

They really should just not allow any commercials from special interest groups unrelated to goods or services, like anti-abortion ads. However, the commercial that they rejected was in fact a service so this really seems like discrimination.

  5. 5

its about the majority. and the majority of people dont wanna see this. end of. even the people who support it and champion gay rights, dont wanna see it on their tv screens. deal with it.

  6. 6

The ad isn't offensive to me, but I'm not sure I'd want my kids watching it. Not sure what the Tebow ad will entail, but I hope there isn't any graphic photographs…

  7. 7

This is a totally hilarious ad!!! It's totally stupid that they won't air that.

  8. 8

It's the friggin' Super Bowl!?!? The creators of this ad and their proposed avenue for advertising are clearly just looking for attention (or a lawsuit). Just like the girls trying to sue their way into that men's club, the Atheists trying to sue their way into the Boy Scouts, etc. Find a better venue; figure skating perhaps? Not being sarcastic. Just trying to be sensible. If I want to advertise fishing and hunting gear, I'm probably NOT going to choose figure skating as a reasonable avenue. Come on people?!?!

  9. 9

I don't believe either the Man Crunch Ad or the Anti-Abortion Ad should be broadcasted to this audience. Don't you know the demographic of people tuning in for the Superbowl?? All STRAIGHT 18-54 MALES!! C'mon…. Let's not knock the network because of this. America wouldn't want to see this while watching a football game. Let's be serious..

  10. 10

if i was a gay man, i would be embarrassed for this company to show this commercial. it's tacky.

  11. 11

Perez, you give us gays a bad name. There was a gay themed commercial last year for Lee Jeans moron, not everything is homophobic.

  12. 12

This has nothing to do with Penn State's THON 2010. Therefore, it sucks. FIGHT KIDS WITH CANCER AND DONATE MONEY AT WWW.THON.ORG!!!!

  13. 13

Oh, my, they will NEVER run that ad, lol, no way, and that's too bad.

  14. 14

its been all over the news that tebow's ad was rejected, are you just trying to start shit?

  15. 15

Re: Dark Phoenix – Tim Tebow is a hugely popular NFL prospect expected to be drafted in the top 5 of the FIRST round. If Tim Tebow was endorsing baking soda you'd see an Arm & Hammer commercial during the Super Bowl (If Arm & Hammer had the coin or care to do one). Stop being ignorant. (Here's the definition so you don't get your feelings hurt: lacking knowledge or information as to a particular subject or fact.)

  16. 16

I agree with Dark Pheonix! Why can't we just stick with regular (non-politically-suggestive-ads) like Dorito commercials.

  17. 17

The kiss was too much, I think. They could have advertised the website without being gratuitous. Their attempt to be funny was kind of creepy to me……..

  18. 18

The Tebow commercial is not a pro-life commercial. It's a celebrate life; celebrate family commercial. If we really can't celebrate life and family, we have issues! I can guarantee that the commercial won't tell you that you're going to hell if you have an abortion… Let it go Perez and celebrate your life.

  19. 19

Sux big time…fucking religious fundies ruining America! But wait, football is stupid anyway so there ya have it.

  20. 20

RE: "Dark Phoenix's" deeply-worded comment: Tim Tebow is a hugely popular NFL prospect expected to be drafted in the top 5 of the FIRST round. If Tim Tebow was endorsing baking soda you'd see an Arm & Hammer commercial during the Super Bowl (If Arm & Hammer had the coin or cared to do one). Stop being ignorant. 21. 21

    This is so unSTYLISH.
    www.thethrifters.net

  22. 22

This wasn't offensive just REALLY REALLY lame. That's the best they could do? Plus, people keep talking about this darn Tebow ad, but until anyone sees it can't we just stfu about it already. Once it's aired and if it's really that offensive…then fine bitch about it.

  23. 23

since when do gay men watch the superbowl anyway? just sayin…

  24. 24

i don't know who your "sources" are, but i know for a fact that all the spots ARE filled. also, the tim tebow ad is not necessarily anti-abortion. get the facts straight! I usually love your blog, but very disappointed in the misinformation of this post.

  25. 25

    Ewww!

  26. 26

    Oh lord.

  27. 27

Focus on the Family was allowed to purchase advertising space. United Church of Christ which has many Open and Affirming congregations was denied. Is that legal?

  28. 28

its about the majority. and the majority of people dont wanna see this.::

Sorry, but the majority doesn't give a hoot about anti-abortion commercials. That's why abortion is legal in this country.

  29. 29

You would "normally tell them to relax"?!?! PLEASE who are you trying to fool, you'd normally flip shit!
This commercial kinda sucks anyway. And those two guys look like father and son.

  30. 30

I get the attempt at humor, but perhaps if they toned it down a bit, the message might not be so blatant. Subtlety can sometimes more more effective.

  31. 31

god there are some ignorant brainless dickheads in the world but im so glad i dont live in america which seems to be full of them………….

  32. 32

Let me see.. I've seen a knee replacement, hip replacement, face life and brain surgery on TV .. I wonder why they have never shown an abortion on TV, when 55 million of the have LEGALLY been performed in the US?

  33. 33

It is not your body….you are simply the incubator. A message to consider not murder a human being is far more acceptable than shoving who you are screwing down my throat. I don't care what you choose to do with your genitals. I do care about innocent babies skulls being crushed and sucked into sink drains.

  34. 34

i think this commercial just ruins it for people. I'm all for the gays, but if u want to convince people, you have to start out slow, not something that will freak them out like those 2 jumping on each other

  35. m.j says – reply to this

    35

Who the heck WOULD air that peice of bull! Can you imagine, in a room filled with your buds and then THAT comes on after a good touchdown.

    Talk about a buzz kill.

  36. 36

    Please Perez, answer me this….

Why is it that Gays and Lesbians are constantly trying to shove this kind of stuff right in my face all the time? Why do they always need to be in the spotlight?

I don't want to see men and women making out on commercials or in public, nor do I want to see gays doing it either. I'm not biased, I just don't want to see it at all. Now, your story would have merit if they allowed an anti-gay commercial in there, but right now you're comparing apples and oranges.

  37. 37

note the black guy eating fried chicken- guess this is a racial faux pas

  38. 38

The only thing you know about football is the tight end position. Keep trying to push that gay agenda Mario, you've gotten nowhere. Stick to your figure skating, pansy.

  39. 39

America does not equal LA and NYC. Majority IS against homosexuality. Look at Adam Lambert. Just because you're not going away doesn't mean the average American is going to embrace you.

  40. myjah says – reply to this

    40

I'm just offended that a Vikings fan would want to make out with a Packers fan.

  41. 41

lol! i know sooo many straight guys who'd just laugh. who caress

  42. 42

How fucking dumb is that?! No discrimination!

  43. 43

I love the gays but this commercial is completely 100% LAME and doesn't even deserve to be aired during the Super Bowl, bottom line.

  44. 44

    That add was stupid.

  45. 45

Total publicity stunt on the part of Mancrunch. I think they knew going in they'd be rejected but went for it knowing it would get them a grip of press making a story out of it. I doubt they have the pockets to afford an ad in the first place, and the ad is super low budget. Smart move though, props to whoever came up with this PR play.

  46. 46

I have never felt the urge to comment on a post, but really, get a life, Perez. The "anti-abortion" or Pro-Life Tebow ad isn't offensive in any way. All it is is him and his mother talking about how she was advised to terminate her pregnancy for medical conditions, and how she didn't and has a beautiful and talented child. Yes, it's pro-life and asks you to think about the fact that there is a human being growing inside of you (and yes, I am pro-life-but not one to push my beliefs onto others. Think and believe what you want). It's a positive ad, it does not throw negativity or judgement on anyone so the fact that everyone' panties are in a twist about it is ridiculous. I personally watch shit on tv that I am against, but I let it roll cuz it's the society we live in-I don't go and whine about it. Should CBS allow the gay dating service ad? Sure, if they want to, who cares, but face it:Life isn't fair and is never going to be. Fight for the big issues, but people need to drop the tit for tat petty shit and just live their life. That's just my opinion. I don't care if you agree or not.

  47. 47

I find this ridiculous. Love is love and this world needs to get that. It's clearly obvious the guys aren't kissing at the end of it. People really need to grow up.

  48. 48

the ad is cheap anyways good for you cbs people wanna watch sports not going to gay website?!!!

  49. 49

I don't think they should show either ad. These groups should not be able to hijack the airways and force a captive audience to see their message. The network should not allow anyone to air a spot just because they have the dough. What happen to just beer and chip ads? I wouldn't want my 5 yr old son to be forced to watch 2 men groping each other we just want to watch a FOOTBALL GAME!

  50. 50

Wow! I can't believe how much homophobia is spewed on this website by other posters! There's way too much discrimination out there!!

  51. 51

I think it's funny, but they are probably thinking of the majority of the viewers being straight married men, straight single men or old guys - Im not saying gay people don't watch football I am just thinking of the majority and the viewers either being offended or uncomfortable. But now I know where to tell a friend of mine to go to find a new boyfriend.

  52. 52

Another thing, that anti-abortion ad is bullshit and they shouldn't be putting up special interest ads - maybe we can get a petition to keep that off the air. I can only imagine how negative that is going to be - I am wanting to see amusing, creative commercials for products or services - not some depressing degrading special interest PSA.

  53. 53

CBS cant seem to do anything right this year. I really hope they ban that focus on family ad.

  54. 54

The Mancrunch ad is cute and funny but I'm not surprised CBS wouldn't air it since they are prone to blurring out same sex kissing between men. I guess they think it's obscene. Sad.

I agree with trytalkin' that there is tons of homophobia in the comments at this site, btw.

  55. 55

It's a funny add, innocent. What's happening, is very clear.

  56. 56

Too many kids would be watching this. I think it is totally inappropriate. LOL and gross yet funny

  57. 57

what a disgusting and tacky ad! i don't want to see an ad like that with a STRAIGHT couple either! it has nothing to do with the gay part of it, it's just cheaply-made, unoriginal, and DUMB.

i hope tebow's ad airs, it's a good foundation (whether you're pro-life or choice) and he's a good role model. parents won't need to shield their children's eyes from him.

  58. 58

If this were a lays chip comercial there wouldnt be anything wrong with the ad.

  59. 59

It's simple: this commercial does not advertise to their primary demographic, the 18-54 year old straight man. Also, the commercial is very cheap and appears quite low budget. It probably was not up to Super Bowl commercial standards, quality wise.

  60. 60

It's funny in the end when the show the dude eating the chicken wing all confused and shocked! LMAO. Other than that, the commerical sucked and was low budget

  61. 61

yuck…i think the black guy's expression says it all, lol. this video could've been shot by a high school class, it's bad and amateurish!

  62. 62

Uhm, it is a PRIVATE CORPORATION! They choose what to air. If you don't like it, don't watch. It's that simple.

  63. 63

Not even going to watch the ad, I'm sure its stupid and inappropriate for a prime time audiences of millions.

  64. Sgirl says – reply to this

    64

Are you seriously bitching about this? You don't know jack shit about football, admittedly so. Most homos don't watch football. The rest of us shouldn't have to be subjected to this nonsense. You guys want to be homos and bitch and moan because you are. Shut up already. The "anti-abortion" message is a good one. Just so you know, abortion is not a good thing, unless, of course, your mother would have aborted you!

  65. 65

    Re: Gisela
I don't think CBS thinks it's obscene, they probably just don't want to deal with all the crap Conservative groups would give them.

  66. 66

It is the wrong venue for a gay commercial, come on!

  67. 67

It's because it's STUPID. Seriously? "ManCrunch"? Come on…

  68. 68

Maybe it was because it was a lame ad

  69. 69

Thank the Lord they're not showing that ad. It's ridiculously stupid.

  70. 70

    what a great commercial. . .

  71. 71

While I support gay rights, I don't think this is the kind of commercial that really needs to be played during the Super Bowl. of course as a freedom of choice person, I also don't think the abortion ad should air either. What does either of them have to do with the sport at hand? Nothing. It just causes controversy and I can imagine the furor that would become from all the football fans who find such displays of affection between same sex couples offensive. I personally thought it was kind of funny. The look on the black guys face was perfect! Lol…

  72. 72

Re: Indrid Cold – Your actually the ignorant one here. I could give a rats ass about Tebow and just because he is a good player doesn't mean they have to force his opinion on this kind of topic during a football game. I would be just as offended if it was some celebrity like Leo DiCaprio. The poster didn't say anything bad about your precious player so maybe you need to get off your fucking soapbox and step back a bit.

  73. 73

Re: Marber – WTF? Its not your body? Stupid comments such as this make me shake my head in digust at the idiocy of people. It is YOUR body to make a CHOICE. No one else has the right to regulate what goes on in my body. You have no idea what goes into each person's decision which is extremely personal and is their right. To think of a body as "just" an incubator means that you don't give as much consideration to the life caring the child. Hmm…

  74. 74

that ad is gay LOL and stupid LOL, It's not a discrimination thing its just a horrible ad unfunny ad..Here comes the lawsuits saying it was discrimination

  75. 75

it's a damn good ad because it's TRUE… a high percentage of 'str8' guys watching the game would secretly love to jump one of their buddie's bones. that's what makes them so uneasy about an ad like this…too close to reality.

  76. 76

    THANK GOD.

  77. 77

MORE QUEERS PUSHING THEIR DEVIANT AGENDA. SICKENING AND COMPLETELY DYSFUNCTIONAL.

  78. 78

I agree completely with CBS's choice to show an anti-abortion ad. They should do everything they can to help Focus on the Family promote anti-abortionism. Under no circumstances should CBS even hint that same sex dating is okay because it most certainly is not.

  79. 79

hey perez, when the time comes that scientist can tell whether an unborn child is gay or straight, WHO DO THINK WILL BE THE MOST VULNERABLE????

i will do my best to save those children too!

  80. missB says – reply to this

    80

"where many many boys come out and play" hmm i wouldn't want that on my channel either if i had one. it's basically advertising a place to find gay sex..

  81. 81

Re: Marber – Oh right, the sole purpose of a woman's life is to be an incubator for babies.Re: BUTCH8844 – They probably don't show abortions on TV because it is a very personal decision and women don't want to be broadcasting that procedure to the world.

  82. 82

lmfao, your such an idiot. They did not air it because of male>male its because its a shitty, and pointless commerical.

  83. 83

that was hilarious .. specially the look on the guy eating the chicken wings

  84. Low says – reply to this

    84

Lame on CBS… but it is a stupid ad. It's best to ease in…. you don't fucking jump right in. "and I'm not talking about the kiss".

  85. 85

    THIS MAKES ME MAD….
    MORE PEOPLE SHOULD HAVE ABORTIONS.
    THE EARTH IS VERY UNHAPPY.
THIS IS DUE TO OVERCROWDING OF THE HUMANS.
    GAY PEOPLE DON'T PRODUCE YOUNG.
THEY ARE AWESOME TO HAVE AROUND.
IN NATURE THIS IS CALLED POPULATION CONTROL.
GODDESS BLESS THE GAYS AND PLEASE BLESS CBS MORE UNDERSTANDING OF PEOPLE WHO REALLY DO MAKE A HUGE DIFFERENCE IN OUR WORLD BUT NOT LIKE THOSE DAMN HAITIANS THAT NEVER CONTROL THERE LOVEN SO THEY FUCK ALL DAY AND HAVE TONS OF BABIES…GEEZ REALLY GROSS…BLESSED BE

  86. 86

I really don't care about the ad! Also, I really don't understand how parents find it so awful that a child could see two men kissing. It's a commercial and not part of the child's daily life. Any child would probably ask about the ad, and after the parent gives an appropriate answer because that is the job of the parent, the child will probably forget about the ad and get on with their lives. It's the parents who make these things a big deal. I think it's because parents don't want other people to think badly of them. Who knows?! The child could say something to an adult, and that adult might be judgmental, and think the parent is unfit. No parent wants that kind of reputation. I'm just saying what I think!

  87. 87

Also, the ad wasn't that bad. They weren't dry-humping eachother. There wasn't even any body contact below the arms. It's just an ad! Television, in my opinion, doesn't reflect what happens in the real world!

  88. 88

True freedom of Speech would allow both; The anti-abortion commercial and the gay ad.

  89. 89

I for one am extremely excited about Tim's commercial! I am glad to see a college athlete, that has such a large fan base, using his popularity to share a good message! I think the decision made was a good one! Thank you CBS!!!

  90. 90

If they showed this commercial this year then next year they will feature 2 men having sex during the halftime show. Nobody wants to see that.

  91. 91

Re: Benz23 – Since Hetro males are the most homophobic while women are mainly cool ,this targets the perfect audience. Secondly they should just take a risk with this,it's about time that people just face the fact that being gay is not dangerous or contagious, its just a fact of life, and bigotry should not rule the day. Oh and the anti-abortion ad is being run by the militant homophobic focus on the family which is a rightwing hate group.

  92. 92

Fudgepacking and football just doesn't mix loser!

  93. 93

You are completely correct in your statement of Tim Tebows popularity. He is and forever will be the Michael Jordan, Wayne Gretzky,Babe Ruth, etc. of college football. He is one of if not the best to ever play the game of college football. This being said many college football hall of famers never played a down in the NFL. Where you are ignorance comes to light tho is when you stated his Draft status. He is NOT a hugely popular NFL prospect and is no where near being projected in the top 5. He is projected to be a 3rd-5rd round pick and may be chosen a tad bit sooner only dude to his intangibles (Athletic ability, leadership, heart, finding a way to win. He lacks all the main qualities a NFL scout looks for in a high caliber top tier NFL prospect. Arm strength, accuracy, mechanics . He is doing a bigger disservice to himself now more than ever by participating in the senior bowl. That being said….he will get drafted. Maybe as a HB,TE,QB. It's ironic you calling someone ignorant, when you obviously have no knowledge of the subject matter in which you preach.

Shame on CBS for being too conservative, I thought the name of the commercial game was “` making BIG bucks.

  97. 97

What a topsy turvy life a morals you have Mario. Gay man sex = good and keeping babies from being murdered by their own mothers = bad.

I guess self deluding works wonders here for you Mario.

  98. 98

this is just pushing it.. during super bowl really?

  99. 99

Who are these "sources" you're always talking about? I mean, when someone has breaking news they run to you first? Are these the same people that run to the national enquirer with their stories of alien abductions? Or maybe you're making this up, and even if you aren't you're making too big a controversy out of it. I mean what is the point of an ad about gay hook ups during the superbowl where the target audience is straight males?

  100. 100

gross and stupid. And Tebow's mother's commercial is inappropriate, too. If she has that much money she should send it to Haiti to help the living.
