      Yeah, and Madonna wouldn't be who she is if Cher, Barbra Streisand, Diana Ross, Nancy Sinatra, Donna Summer, Dolly Parton, Debbie Harry, etc. weren't doing what they did before her. There's really no one original anymore, unless you're frickin' Yoko Ono, who's all in a category of her own.
      The thing I find funny in these arguments from Madonna fans (and not referring to you specifically) is that they seem to get way too defensive when someone thinks highly of someone other than Madonna, or when another female artist is successful. I'm unaware of any laws that say it's a crime to want to be as successful as Madonna; she can't always have it all to herself, and no matter what people say about her, her accomplishments aren't going to vanish. If she is indeed that influential, then her fans should be happy that people out there want to duplicate her success rather than act like they're theatened by it.

      WHOA!!!! This debate is still going on? I thought we settled it alread:
      1. Madonna will always be the Queen of Pop
      2. Britney is THE ultimate Pop Princess
      3. Beyonce is the second highest earning female recording artist of our time (after Madonna)
      4. Lady Gaga, though good and having a great year, is no where in the league of any of the aforementioned ladies of music. She needs to be around for more than 1 YEAR to be the Duchess of Pop (even though Fergie really is the Duchess)

      Point is, Lady Gaga is nothing new. She is swagger jacking everyone from Grace Jones, Madonna, Kylie, Goldfrapp and David Bowie. She's not breaking any boundaries that have not already been broken by the legends I have just mentioned. Lastly, she tries WAY too hard to outshine her competition…Yet when Rihanna one ups Lady Gaga, she does it with ease. Her Rated R album is selling better than Gaga's and has been getting critical acclaim from most critics. Those same critics gave Lady Gaga's album a decent review but mentioned that she isn't really doing anything ground breaking in sound or style. She's hiring all Madonna's directors and she just comes off as this pretentious nut case…If you want a nut case then check out Grace Jones. She does it so effortless. No disrespect to any Gaga STANS but next time you call her the Queen of music…think about what you are saying.

She's made hits out of Disco, New Wave, Punk, R&B, Caberet, Show Tunes, Ballads, Trip Hop, Electronica, House, Rock, Musical Theme Songs, Urban Pop…Now that is a true Queen of Music and Pop. The ability to be versatile and switch up sound and image while remaining popular and scoring hits all around the world. Lady Gaga has not even neared that at all. Beyonce showed with her last album that she can switch up her sound and do it well. She did Electro Pop for "Sweet Dreams", pop/rock for "If I Were A Boy", hip/hop for "Diva", Electro-hop for "Video Phone" and you get my point. Lady Gaga is known for just one type of music and that type of music won't be popular forever. Why do you think Madonna reinvents herself? Because she has to evolve and adapt to the changing landscape. No one in music has had such a consistently successful career like Madonna…It takes a rare and smart artist to do what Madonna has done for almost 30 years.

Barbra Streisand just had her 9th #1 album in the US this past year during a week when everyone was thinking it would go to either Mariah or Madonna, and even knocked Madonna off the top of the UK album chart with her last album. She's the only artist to have had a #1 album in 5 different decades in the US. She's also done everything from pop, showtunes, gospel, classical, spiritual, disco, folk, jazz, R&B, dance, rock, reggae, etc. She even recorded a duet with a country singer and recorded an album in French. She's covered songs from Gershwin & Sondheim, to Paul Simon, Joni Mitchell, Carole King, Barry Gibb, Bob Marley, Laura Nyro, the Beatles, and David Bowie. Even though she doesn't have major hit singles, and rarely does music videos, her albums still debut in the top ten and go gold & platinum, regardless how many years she takes off in between, and she's been doing that since 1962. She may not do as well as Madonna globally, but she's never had an album that was considered a major flop, even the ones that underperformed. I know a lot of people don't like her, and wouldn't consider her Queen of anything (not that she'd care), but I would say her career has been pretty consistent as well.

      Who the hell cares who's a king or queen or princess or a maid? Seriously, why does it have to be put to a competition and start a feud between the two ladies, who aparently are getting along fine. Both ladies are doing good. More power to them. Beyonce has been on the scene and reigning for years and she sure does know how to surprise her audience with each new album. Lady Gaga is new and different and has her own image and that's what her fans like about her. I like both ladies but i think it will take years before Gaga can reach the level of Beyonce, let's be honest.

      Definitely Gaga!! I'm not a fan of pop, country, or rap. Gaga intrigues me because she is so creative, whether you like her or not you can't deny her for her shock value and creativity. She reminds me of Marilyn Manson with her shocking videos and MTV perfomance and has a beautiful voice. She doesn't have to rely on a manufactured voice like Britney, does. Actually, I've never heard Brit sing live. She may have a great voice, but who actually knows since she won't sing live or rarely does!
