"It means EVERYTHING. We have better manners. The other day this lady's umbrella blew away, and it just made sense to go and get it for her. Some men forget that"

This is stupid there just as many southern a-holes as there are anywhere to "have better manners" has nothing to do with being a southern man it just means that your a gentlemen and were brought up with proper manners period.

and drink Bud, beat your wife and support NASCAR!

It's totally true. One of the things I miss most about the South are the manners! Men in the midwest just DON'T have them like men in the South do!

i have to admit.. i live in Europe, and i find there's something sexy bout hot southern guys, with these southern country accents and kinda jocklike all american types… lols… no hillbillies, or like racist rednecks or something, but just normal guys, goodlooking.. and then when they have these accents its like rawrrrr lols :P

    12. 12

THIs made me like him a little more and more… so sweet

    13. 13

true story! my husband's from the South and he puts everyone else to shame!

    14. 14

I LOVE Southern boys. I live in New Jersey and I never realized how chivalrous men in the South/Midwest can be!

    15. 15

awe, how cute, southern boys are fun, lol.

    16. 16

*follows with umbrella hoping for wind!!!*

Well, he's right about southern men. Because, northern men, especially the liberals, don't know much about being gentlemen. Unfortunately, I think the women's movement has a lot to do with it. Women wanted to be treated like men and that's what they got. I see these young guys sitting down on the bus or train all the time while an older woman is standing up next to them. Pretty sad.

    18. 18

What happened to the good old days when guys did things like this….he's sooo sweet

well, part of having manners is not doing things just so you can be praised for them. keep you lame umberella storys to yourself and the person you chase after them for.
      check.

being a transplanted midwestern cowgirl myself, i have to say people are way more friendly in the south than anywhere else i've been in the country.

    22. 22

      thats adorable

Love southern boys!!! Im from the south and (not counting the machismo driven rednecks) southern boys are the best!!!

I didnt really care about him one way or the other till this quote. Just went up a little bit in my book :)

    24. 24

      Swoon!

    25. 25

i wish he would cut his hair

    26. 26

What the fuck is with his hair.

    27. 27

You can find a redneck anywhere in the country, not just in the south.
But, as a southern girl living on the east coast for 20 yrs., I can attest to the manners. I love my CA born and bred husband and all but southern men are very charming.

    28. 28

Love me some good old fashion southern boys yeah whoop whoop….I wonder how his peen is doing after that little hot water accident hehe Love yeah boo keep being you!!!!

    29. 29

I don't know about southern guys, but I just spent 2 weeks in Brooklyn & Manhattan and I did not have to open one door the whole time. Everywhere I went men & older teen guys opened/held doors for me. Now I'm in Napa, CA and no doors opened at all. One guy waited as I struggled with holding a door open & getting a stroller in. I finally just told him to go ahead. Fkn loser.

i think american men are quite the gentlemen compared to say… european men. just spent my whole x-mas/winter vacation in england, netherlands, france, and italy… and they don't help with anything! i hate to generalize but it made me appreciate our american boys. ;D

but would he go and get the umbrella if it blew away from a man? There's Southern gentlemen, and than there's just men.

    32. 32

I used to think there was something to the South's reputation for being welcoming, warm, courteous, etc.

      What a load of horse-shit.

I've met courteous people from the North and the South, as well as rude people from the North and South. I was at a funeral in the South today and some Southern gem had the gall to ask where my significant other was, and attributed their absence to there being a excess of blacks in the North. Ignorance, tolerance, manners, and the like know no latitude. Oddly enough, I find that the most courteous people are the ones most likely to talk shit behind your back. Fuck 'em.

    33. 33

where the hell can i order one????

    34. 34

      ewww soo over him!
