   Rated R is an amazing album that showcases the real artist Rihanna can be, she left me speechless. Just amazing, not for the bubble gum pop crowd she conquered with her last album, this is a bit more mature, it's just better, anyone with good taste would appreciate it.

As for Rihanna, her album isn't flying off the shelves like the old days because she lots fans as well. She never really spoke out against domestic violence and as a result she lost the respect of so many women. Her interview (months after the fact) was touching, but it wasn't enough.     Re: gypsysmama – Rihanna is growing as an artist. She doesn't want to go back to what works and she's taking chances. I think that is commendable. I think it's really sad that people say "She should do what works for her"…and stuff of that nature. The thing is, would U as an artist want to do the same thing over and over? If you do, than that's quite sad IMO. Whatever. Rihanna took chances with this album. It's dark, edgy and a little harder for the public to take. If she wanted to make an album that would appeal to the masses I'm sure she would have made Good Girl Gone Bad 2 or would have copied what everyone else is doing and go the oh-so-hot-right-now electro-pop route. Obviously, she didn't want to do that. She said this record was the record she wanted to make, not the record she was pushed to make. So people who are saying her albums sucks clearly can't appreciate and artist who is taking risks and going down a path of their own. The album IS good and anyone who listened with an open mind would appreciate the production, lyrics and overall emotional depth and growth she has made with this album. It's crazy how anyone could say that. The album is brilliant and there is not one horrible song on it (but she could have done w/o "Stupid in Love" which though a decent song sounds out of place and drags the album down).

    Rated R is an amazing album, and just because most people on here have no depth and maturity to grasp an album so great, doesnt mean it sucks. GGGB sucked, with annoying, repetitive songs. Rated R is classic, mature and is who she is now.
