Polish Priest Gets Hi-Tech For Jesus

Filed under: Wacky, Tacky & True > Etc.

What ever happened to the honor system!?!

A Priest in Poland has installed an electronic reader in his church so he can keep track of schoolchildren's attendance at mass!!!

WTF???

The machine will record their attendence, and if the kiddies show up and are present at 200 masses they won't have to pass an exam prior to their confirmation into the Catholic church.

We can't wait until someone figures out how to fuck the system and play hooky. That's not the way you motivate kids to become interested in religion!!

But hey, whatever works - at least they're not scaring them into thinking they'll rot in hell if they don't attend mass daily!!

The kids are still in Confirmation. Attending Mass is expected when going through the process. I think it's pretty ingenious of him.

indeed! They have to attend mass in order to go through the process you know. And what is bad about going to church anyways?I think it's pretty cool… you know Perez, not all Priests are bad, and neither is being religious.

Confirmation is an important sacrament. I totally understand the priest's reluctance to confirm those who are cheating their way through and truly don't care to become confirmed Catholics. If you choose not to attend mass then there's really no point in being confirmed. I'd say this priest is pretty smart!

Uhm, you have to go to Mass to be confirmed you dumb ass. This is pretty smart IMO. That way they don't have to keep track.

wonder if he can send photo's of his polish sausage to the kids?

Schools track attendance as part of graduation requirements; why shouldn't religious schooling use technology to track attendance as it is a requirement for the process? There are churches in the US capturing attendance and family data for "marketing" purposes- that sounds a lot more sinister.
