The Fairest Of Them All

Vanity Fair has just provided us with an advance look at their annual Hollywood Issue!

This year, for the 16th year in a row, Annie Leibovitz has shot the cover, which includes some of the brightest young ladies in Hollywood and some we bet Annie had to work really hard to get to look less moody! (Eyes on you KStew and Evan Whore!)

On the cover, we have Abbie Cornish, Rebecca Hall, Anna Kendrick, Carey Mulligan, Amanda Seyfried, Kristen Stewart, Emma Stone, Mia Wasikowska, and Evan Rachel Wood.

Thoughts?

Grrrrreat pictures! and it's true, they are the new HOLLYWOOD DIVAS!

    2. 2

sad to see that their "new hollywood" in 2010 is still very much lacking in diversity.

    3. 3

      so racist…fuck vanity fair…next

    4. 4

      That's a very white picture…. hmmmmm.

    5. 5

      7

Euh where do you see Evan Rachel WOOD? I've noticed you've become more and more bitter and mean instead of funny and entertaining. Sometimes i wonder why i watch this website? You are just a bitter old man who isn't getting any, or you'd be more pleasant.

    8. 8

Lots of work by some poor retoucher.

    9. 9

      VERY WHITE

    10. 10

Amanda Seyfried should have been on the cover!!!!!!

    11. 11

I am so upset that there is not one ethnic female on that cover. It is 2010 a little diversity could go a long way!!!!!! VF will continue to be racist…

    12. 12

Kristen looks like a lesbian… and how could they be the new Hollywood?? they are barely famous…. also no black girls or asians or latins in LA??

    13. 13

Re: kim1possible9 – FUCK YOU. bitch, watch some of her other movies she is actually really good so go suck my dick.

    14. 14

wheres EMMA WATSON. she has more beauty brain power and acting ability then theese lot.

    15. 15

Couldn't care less. Kristen Stewart is just BORING.

    16. 16

Why is Kristen Stewarts hair so greasy? Doesn't that girl own a shower? Carey Mulligan looks absolutely beautiful, though.

    17. 17

Evan Rachel Wood? How did she get in there?

    18. 18

oh and Kristen Stewart RULES!!!!!!!!!!! She's Totally the Queen of the cover!

    19. 19

How unColorful they all are *sigh*

    20. 20

not trying to disagree w/ anyone screaming "RACIST" but what young ethnic girls would you have nominated? (other than the big girl that played precious which is the only movie she'll ever be known for - which wasn't as good as it was hyped up to be anyway)

    21. 21

I watch some of her other movies and SHE STILL SUCK and she the worst bella EVER THEY NEED TO RECAST BELLA IN TWILIGHT. SHE SUCKS SUCKS. SHE HAS A MONOTONE VOICE IT NEVER CHANGES ALWAYS THE SAME IN EVER MOVIE

    22. 22

      Re: Canadiana* – extremely…

      23

IS IT CONSIDERED RACIST WHEN BLACK OR LATIN MAGAZINES DONT HAVE ANY WHITE GIRLS ON THEIR COVERS??? NO! SO WHY IS IT SUCH A BIG DEAL FOR vanity FAIR to have all white girls??

    24. 24

Carey Mulligan always looks reeeeally uncomfortable.

    25. 25

Re: Diva-Babe – I agree, Emma Watson is one of the highest paid actresses in young Hollywood, plus she's been in the biggest movie franchise since she was a tween. She is the epitome of "Hollywood 2010" and on. Hell, she's more popular than all these girls combined.

    26. w00t says – reply to this

      26

WTF they got that girl from Twilight who looks like shes on drugs all the time but not the golden globe and soon to be oscar nominated young Precious actress. PS Amanda Seyfried should have been on the cover instead of the bitchface

    27. 27

Re: RobPnMeShouldB – Zoe Saldana deserves to be there.

    28. 28

      ^
I didn't even noticed the fact that they're all white… wow. I'm so totally going to buy the issue now!!!!!!!! In other words Fuck You and your little Violin too. :D

    29. 29

In the words of Nancy Reagan, "All these beautiful white people."

      Puh-lease.

That's Conde Nast and Vanity Fair for you. They'll endorse a Briton or an Australian or a Canadian before they'd ever promote a Black American. Swine.

    30. 30

@RobPnMeShouldB - There's Zoe Saldana who had two HUGE movies last year (Star Trek and Avatar). There's also Jennifer Hudson who may be better known for her music, but is a much bigger star than several of the girls on the cover. Keke Palmer who has been in some pretty big movies (Akila and the Bee) and is a huge television star. She is just starting out, but I think she'll do big things. Granted there may not be a lot of big stars of ethnicity, but to totally exclude them is a huge oversight on VF's part.

    31. 31

      Re: RobPnMeShouldB

Gee, I dunno, maybe Zoe Saldana who was in not one, but TWO of the biggest movies of the year. Including the biggest one of all time apparently. I get your point and why you asked, but if someone had asked, who the next big thing in Hollywood, I would have said her without having to specify a minority. I know she's been around for awhile, but she's still young and is gonna be huge I believe.

    32. 32

      ummm very very white.

    33. Twime says – reply to this

      33

Why is it that K-Stew is the only one that looks weird?! Couldn't they have done something to her hair?

    34. Twime says – reply to this

      34

Re: 8fck – I'm not racist…but I kinda have to agree with you. Plus I really can't think of any new up and coming talent that is of a racial minority. :S

    35. 35

Re: 8fck – Vanity Fair is not a 'white' magazine while the other magazines are, indeed, ethnic.

    36. 36

Re: 8fck – Ugh, I hate when people make this argument. BECAUSE Vanity Fair is supposed to represent all of Hollywood correct? But it's because minorities are so underrepresented in those magazines, that latina/asian versions of magazines have to exist. I know white people like to pretend any form of racism doesn't exist, but it is what it is. It's not "hang em up, don't let em drink out the same fountain" racist, but it's a conscious choice.

    37. 37

Re: JoslynD – Zoe Saldana was in two huge movies this year, but this cover is obviously going for a more "Young Hollywood" look. Zoe is over 30 years old. She's not Young Hollywood. Jennifer Hudson is almost 30, and she hasn't been in any big movies this year. And Keke Palmer hasn't been in any big movies either. Akeelah and The Bee was not a huge movie and they aren't going to put someone on the cover who is only known for a Nickelodeon show. These actresses on the cover are all young, have been in huge movies (or will be in the coming year). The only African American actress I can think of who could have worked on the cover is Gabourey Sidibe. So if you're going to ask why anyone isn't the cover, ask why she isn't. And I think that the answer to that would be pretty simple, although harsh. She's just not…cover material. This is a magazine remember, they want the most attractive people in their issue, that's how they make money. That sounds mean, but that's just how the industry works.

    38. 38

Re: 8fck – It seems by your comment you are implying that Vanity Fair is a "white" magazine,so you just contradiced yourself and agreeing indirectly that Vanity Fair is just for white people. Vanity Fair's Hollywood 2010 cover is extremely racist, out of all the new hot young talent in Hollywood, they could only find white young women? Soooo many people from different backgrounds have studided theater and wasted time and money going to audtions. Why bother doing all of that iof you are going to wind up as an extra or the best friend or to fill some "affirmative action" responsiblity.

    39. 39

      Re: lalalahahaha – classy

    40. 40

K-stew… tsk tsk tsk you look like a boy

    41. 41

Re: Twime – fuck you asshole. think about your robert fucking pattinson with his shitty beard. she is gorgeous with amazing legs. Love amanda, mia and anna too

    42. 42

WOW! THEY'RE ALL WASPY WHITE GIRLS!!!!

    43. 43

Wow Abbie Cornish looks just like Charlize Theron here. Ofcourse she has to get dressed up to look like her. Otherwise she's just a plain version of her.

    44. 44

WHERE IS THE COLOR? They all look EXACTLY the same and hardly any of them are actually talented. WAY TO SELL OUT VANITY FAIR! WORST HOLLYWOOD ISSUE EVER!! Even Annie Lebowitz couldn't make these girls seem interesting. BLAH!

    45. 45

      Re: Diva-Babe

      Agreed. VANITY FAIR SUCKS!!!

    46. 46

Rebecca hall and abbie cornish are 27, and zoe saldana is 31, so she's not that much older. And she's definitely 'cover material'!

    47. pomme says – reply to this

      47

why does Carey Mulligan seem near to cry?

    48. 48

      Re: 8fck

They not only have NO MINORITIES, but also NO MEN!!! Go back and look at their past Hollywood issues. There's ALWAYS a male and there's ALWAYS at least one minority! THIS ISSUE IS A JOKE!

    49. 49

Re: Supercali – and as others have stated, zoe saldana is not only older then "young h-wood" she also has been around since about 2002…….

    50. 50

wow, Where are my latinas, african americans, asian americans, biracial americans, or minorities in general????

THIS is so disturbing. Diversity FAILS once again in Hollywood. If this is the future of Hollywood, how sad this is.

    51. pomme says – reply to this

      51

it's very white also:isn't there no talent black/hispanic/asiatic actress in Hollywood?

    52. 52

Besides gain notoriety for busting up a marriage Why is Abbie Cornish on the cover? Perhaps the people deciding "young Hollywood" need to retire as these picks suck.

    53. 53

      wow they are all WHITE

    54. 54

Re: dssdsd – Agreed, she's gonna be huge by the sound of things.

    55. 55

zoe saldana was already in one of these group shot covers. maybe 2008s

    56. 56

Where the HELL is Ellen Page?? Zoe Saldana?? Jennifer Hudson?? ..wait, I'm glad they aren't on there with those actresses that can't act! Especially Kstew who has to exhale so fing loud befor and after every spoken word. They aren't even in the same talent pool!

    57. 57

they could have had Naturi Naughton from fame and notorious

    58. 58

      Re: tushiwushi

Zoe was in the 2008 Hollywood issue.

    59. 59

I do not even know who some of those people are, some I do know I cannot stand but I do love Amanda Seyfried. AND how crazy that all these women are white….very progressive Hollywood….LAME

    60. 60

      Where is Emma and Dakota?

    61. 61

      BORING……
      like watching the grass grow…
      bad pic boring girls….
      bad outfits….
      bad styling…and………….very white. I agree

    62. 62

Re: RobPnMeShouldB – zoe saldana has been around LONGER than 2002 and I believe she is 34. While she is gorgeous..not really young per se.

    63. 63

Why is Joan Jett on the cover

    64. 64

man that's a lot of pasty chicks…love it!

    65. 65

Look back over some of VF's "Iconic" cover shoots with "new hollywood" or "new" anything and look at the track record of 90% of those people. Such a joke

    66. 66

      so racist indeed!

    67. 67

and I agree… Ebony should feature white people on the cover as well… both sides are racist…

    68. 68

Yes, It doesn't say much when Dakota is missing. Again who did the choosing and how out of it are they?

    69. 69

Ugh I thought not so bELLA hates that kind of stuff…….

    70. 70

Re: insertsobriquet – That'll be why then lol.

    71. 71

      Re: rosewood

There's no age limit on the issue and Zoe is only 31. Gabourey Sidibe or Mila Kunis at least should've been included.

    72. 72

why in the world is she the only one who has her legs open like that???

    73. 73

all white girls fuck vanity fair

    74. 74

Fairest alright.. they all need a tan!

    75. 75

White people are a real trip. And very transparent. But then again look at the ugly pale skin, i guess that is why they are so transparent in all they do. What a pathetic race of people whites are. Very self absorbed. Karma is as karma does. All these pale faced women will look 80 yrs old by the time they reach 35.

    76. 76

i also forgot to add. Why on hells earth do ANY minorities support White hollywood? Any minority who supports this obvious racist white people self absorbed industry deserves to be left out. The fact is white people will learn their lesson ONLY when their pale asses receive no monetary support and are also left out.

    77. 77

      Re: 8fck – AMEN!!
      .
We have BET, the Essence Awards, the Latin Grammys … there are a lot of examples of reverse discrimination in this country. But the minute someone does something that doesn't include "minorities," some asshole has to start screaming racism. It's complete and total BULLSHIT. If it's okay for the "minorities" to exclude whites, then turnabout is fair play. It's called EQUALITY. Stop playing the race card already.

    78. 78

Zoe Saldana had an AMAZING year and she is so talented she should definatly be there and Amanda Seyfried should have been on the cover. I'm not quite sure why Evan Rachel Wood is on the cover??

    79. 79

Amanda Seyfried should of been on the cover. Kstew has all the stylist/make-up people at her finger tips. Put on a cover of a major magazine and she still looks like a greasy mess. Wtf? People are right, this cover is too white.

    80. 80

      WHITE, WHITE AND MORE WHITE.

I am, once again, disappointed to see that "vanity" has taken over Vanity Fair. Gabby Sidibe has been nominated for every award for her role in "Precious," and she was phenomenal.

I guess since she is neither white, nor a waif, she didn't fit in with the aesthetic of this photo shoot.

      I am extremely disappointed.

To know that someone who will most likely be nominated for an Oscar tomorrow when nominations are announced, is not included here, but someone like Emma Stone, or Abbie Cornish is? VERY frustrating.

    81. 81

SEE WTF but the comment above me is TOTALLY acceptable ! But not if it was coming from a WHITE person ! FUCK OFF ALL OF YOU RACIST PIGS!

    82. 82

Re: La Garse – Are you even listening to yourself??? You mentioned minority events,Vanity Fair is NOT a race-themed magazine,so you are in FACT admitting that Vanity Fair IS for white people,BET awards and Latin Grammys have no relation to Vanity Fair magazine,Vanity Fair named Hollywood 2010 people to see,all of them are white, that is the point, and that is not cool for them to do that

    83. 83

sure there should be different ethnicities in hollywood.
but zoe saldana was on the vanity fair cover a year ago. Doesn't make sense to lable her fresh face twice.
And she isn't up and coming, with Avatar and Star Trek she is already an established actress.

      Re: leavemealone

yes but u can say that off evan rachel wood who has been around for years. i know there aren't that many mainstream black actresses but zoe, gabby shld had been included. i dont care

    85. 85

all of them except anna kendrick need to eat a fuckin sandwich!

    86. 86

Re: jasonjkyle – @ 57 - yeah right cuz playing a whore is something to be praised for - you've got to be kidding………i give her more credibility for being the girl no one knew in 3LW………..

    87. 87

Re: rosewood – @ 62 - one of her first movies was in 2002……while she may have been in other things, drumline is the first thing people know her for………don't say shit for the sake of argument……….

    88. 88

*sigh* Black, Asia & Latino magazine exist because people of these groups need to have representation, it is not reverse racism. Vanity Fair needs to be more cognisant of the world around them, it's multi-ethnic not lily white.

    89. 89

Re: Blk Beauty – do all races a favor and jump off the highest bridge you can find

    90. 90

Where the hell is MEGAN FOX????? O_O
or is she missing because she's tan?

p.s.: even thought i'm a white caucasian and it's easier for me to relate to the actresses of the same ethnicity, i still get how people find this cover offensive.
but then again, that's how the industry works.
maybe that was the way to get publicity for them =/

    91. 91

The main problem here is not even racism… If, at least, they had selected people with real talent to be on the cover, we would have to suck it up… But, dude, K-Stew is on the cover, looking stoned as ever… If she is one of the divas… I'll have to stop watching movies

    92. 92

Wow! Look at the DIVERSITY! The shades of white range all the way from eggshell to alabaster. Way to go, Vanity Fair. You get brownie points for managing to squeeze out all color. Wait, do you even know what brown is? Sorry.

    93. 93

how diverse. almost all american and all white

    94. 94

Re: caroaber – correction, theyll endorse a WHITE canadian, briton or australian. id say chiwetel ejiofor (2012, american gangster, inside man, angelina jolie's new film - salt), idris elba (the wire, american gangster, obsessed, takers), sophie okonedo (hotel rwanda, secret lives of bees) and thandie newton (pursuit of happyness, 2012, crash) are some of the only actors out of britain who are successfully crossing over into american productions but all the americans care about is robert bloody pattinson

    95. 95

RACIST! what about Gabby from Precious?
Also, Evan Rachel Wood has been in Hollywood for FOREVER!

    96. 96

also where are the men? there are some great up and coming actors, sam worthington springs to mind

    97. 97

It's really sad that there's no diversity on that cover shoot whatsoever. Really sad.

    98. 98

oooh perez u make me laugh!

    99. 99

      FUCK RACIST VANITY FAIR!

NOT ALL OF HOLLYWOOD IS COMPOSED OF FLATCHESTED WHITE GIRLS!!

    100. 100

Re: RobPnMeShouldB – ARE YOU KIDDING? YOU JUST ANSWERED YOUR OWN QUESTION. Hollywood won't give anyone young &non-white a real chance.
