Matthew Broderick is headed to network TV to star in NBC comedy pilot Beach Lane which was given the green light today.
Beach Lane stars Matthew as "a celebrity author hired by an irresponsible millionaire heir to run his struggling small-town newspaper in the Hamptons."
Sounds like a barrel of laughs.
Lorne Michaels of SNL fame is executive producing so maybe it will be good?
We kinda doubt it — he needs to get wife SJPeePee to guest-star!

In 1985, Matthew Broderick was driving (with then girlfriend Jennifer Grey) in Fermanagh, Ireland. Broderick hit another car and a woman and her daughter were KILLED. . He was supposed to be charged with causing death by dangerous driving but only plead guilty to a reckless driving charge and was fined $175- petty change out of his pocket- for Murdering two people.
sounds like crap. i think this bad economy needs to have a much bigger effect on show business. every single actor out there doesn't deserve to keep getting project after project after project. we don't need to keep actors working and writers writing and producers producing if all that we are getting is pablum garbage. perhaps it's time for these show business types to feel some of the pain. if you want to work get a REAL job. quit making desperate, lame, retarded shows and movies and music. we need some serious attrition to occur in show business and get rid of all the dead weight.
What is so debasing about television? His father was a main character on the TV show "Family" and very good at it. What's wrong with Matthew trying something different? He's done and is doing lots of movies, then he's done Broadway, and I am looking forward to seeing him in something more challenging that the same Broadway show night after night after night.

What is wrong with him filming a pilot! That is what actors do. Not sure why you would put him down for working. His career has been very long and fairly successful.

How is getting a job on a t.v show desperate?!?! I would say that begging for a job on American Idol & X Factor is WAY more desperate.. And posting your "audition" video of you singing, and also your video begging for a date. Those are all very deperate !!!

What's desperate about doing a tv show? What's desperate about having a career? I don't get why people hate on him when he's been non stop since he was very young. Him and his wife have great careers and I hope they have continued success. They both rock.
