Kristin Chenoweth To Adopt A Haitian Orphan?

She wants to!

Kristin Chenoweth is seriously considering bringing a young, orphaned child of Haiti into her life as one of her own. She recently expressed an interest in adopting, since she herself is adopted and she has been deeply affected by the tragedy in Haiti. She explains:

“I am thinking about it. And I am praying about it. It’s a huge decision. I have not been able to turn off the TV and have been very moved by what I have seen so I think that could be a real possibility for my life. I am adopted myself so I am going to go there and help raise the profile of the cause just as it starts to fade. I have just got to plan my schedule.”

Whatever you decide, we're sure you'll still be a major help to those kids! They are very lucky to have someone like you looking out for them and considering bringing one of them into your life permanently!

This makes me want to be a Haitian orphan. Some kids have all the luck.

    2. 2

it's takes a catastrophe to decide you want to adopt a child? what about the homeless children here in America? I guess she wasn't moved enough by their stories of homelessness and tragedy……..

    3. 3

      look ,and xxx

    4. 4

How trendy of her. There are children in desperate need of homes in THIS country. And how egotistical of her … like her adoption of a kid from Haiti is going to "help raise the profile" of the situation. She over-estimates her own "celebrity," and we're already over-saturated with news on Haiti. And how typical of Perez to shower praise on her for her unoriginal idea. Hey Mario: What is your overpaid self doing to help?

    5. 5

      Good for her! God Bess.

Re: Long Dong Connery – She's broadway legend and tv favourite. she even won an emmy last year.

1.Well, maybe she wanted to adopt closer to home, but it was probably quicker to get one from Haiti(?).
2.Also, you hear about so many adoption horror stories from this country, maybe she thought if she gets the kid out of the country, the parents won't be able to get the kid back.
3.Maybe she got inspired seeing the cute little orphans.
      4. Maybe she wants publicity?
I like Kristin and think she's cute and smart, so it's OK with me if she wants to go get a kid. The kid will probably have a better life with her money…

Give me a break. These kids aren't United Colors of Benetton designer babies. Don't adopt a kid for your own PR. How sick and selfish.

    10. 10

Remember, Kristin. They can't be returned like an unwanted handbag. Adoption of foreign children has been very "in" of late. Makes me very suspicious.

she is a good Christian woman and i'm sure she will make a wonderful home for a very lucky kid that has been through a terrible ordeal.

    12. 12

she is so cool! She could be my mum if she wanted to!

Re: La Garse – are you fucking kidding me? So its better to adopt an american kid? My god youre a fuck

good luck ! she's NOT that famous and they've closed off the process until this whole mess is straightened out ! even then the kids orphaned by the quakes will not be available because they'll be trying to place them with family. so yea, a natural disaster is NOT the best time to try to adopt from that country ! "celebrities" kill me !

    15. 15

There are orphans in the united states too!!

    16. 16

OK, everyone just hating stop and think before you speak (or type)!!! She was adopted herself so she knows it's not like picking up a puppy (or purse, as has been suggested)!!! She's spoken for a while about how she's wanted a kid of her own and she's not the only person who's been touched by this tragedy. Many people have started adopting these kids who have lost EVERYTHING so don't start attacking her as if it's a bad thing!!! She's doing God's work! (Take care of the widows and orphans.) It's not a thing to help her PR, she doesn't need help with that. She's a Tony & Emmy winner and doesn't need your approval for any part of her life!! What she does is her buisness and if you don't like it than you can just "SUCK IT"! All we can do is pray for guidence and do with that what we think is right. So I pray that she will get the guidence she needs and the rest if up to her.
And remember, if you can't say anything nice, DON'T SAY ANYTHING AT ALL!!!!!!

Why is everyone here so negative? You don't know her, or what going on in her head. Maybe she is a genuine person. It's probably best she didn't adopt someone in America if she didn't even think about it or want to. It wasn't meant to be. It's so sad when people automatically assume the worst about someone. Where's the love poeple?

      1. The nation of Haiti has put an indefinite hold on any new adoptions. This is to avoid people from child trafficking and potentially removing children who do have missing relatives somewhere that they have not been reunited with. This moratorium will likely last several years, so any adoption that was not in process prior to the quake will not be considered. Kristen is out of luck, she'll have to choose another country.
      2. Does it matter where a person decides to adopt a child from? Why do we have to turn it into a patriotic issue and only deem our own country's children worthy of adoption? Any child needing a home is a child needing a home, no matter where they come from. But if you want to go there, all I have to say is that orphaned children in this country have FAR more hope and potential and opportunities than a child living in a country like Haiti. Even the nastiest foster home / orphanage in the US is a palace compared to living in a shanty town. Far more children do not live to see their teen years due to disease and starvation and lack of clean water and medical care. By adopting a Haitian child, a person isn't merely providing a child with a "better" life, they are providing them with a life, period.

    19. 19

If you follow her at all she's always talked about adoption if she couldn't have kids of her own. For years before this happened. She's just very caring and tradjedy effects her a lot. Orphans in the US have it rough. Orphans in Haiti might be sold into slavery or just plain starve or die of easily treatable diseases. I think she's aware of that fact. She's not saying adoption would raise the public profile. She's saying she wants to go help after most people have forgotten about it so the cause doesn't die off.

    20. 20

I don't understand what's wrong with the kids that need homes right here in the United States? Could some people maybe start looking into that?

    21. 21

There are many things a person with her wealth and status can do to help Haiti other than taking one child away from his homeland, his language, his culture and everything he knows. She could donate money to help improve conditions for everyone. Adopting one child is not going to do much of anything.
Adoption is not the answer to solving Haiti's problems. it is never the answer to fixing poverty or disaster.
The people of Haiti are not asking Americans to take their children away from them.
      Just something to think about.

    22. 22

STOP DONT DO IT!!! THIS COUNTRY HAS ENOUGH PROBLEMS WITH THE NEGROES WE ALREADY HAVE!!!! LOOK AT HOW THOSE NIGS FUCKED UP THIER OWN COUNTRY. DO WE REALLY NEED A BUNCH OF HAITIANS SCREWING UP THIS COUNTRY AS WELL?

    23. 23

Re: MG73 – so forget about the American children because our "orphanages" would be "palaces" to 3rd world country orphans? you've got to be kidding…………..

    24. 24

Honestly, there are SO many needy kids in America. Why do all the stars think it's trendy to adopt overseas? Ridiculous.

Re: RobPnMeShouldB – You have failed at putting words in my mouth. Have you personally ever visited a US childrens group home (aka "orphanage") and have you visited the country of Haiti to see the conditions some children live in there? Because I have, I'm a volunteer nurse who has been on missions caring for these children in years past. I have also done work here in the US for children displaced from their homes. So I can tell you from a firsthand, EDUCATED perspective, that yes, our "orphanages" and the care provided these children are like palaces in comparison. And in no way did I suggest people "forget" about American children. In case you conveniently skipped over the rest of my post, I believe I did say "Any child who needs a home is a child that needs a home". Don't recall typing "Adopt children from anywhere but America because American orphans live in palaces." Reading comprehension: study it.

    26. 26

SO DUMB!!! Adoptions are closed in Haiti now anyways. Because of all the craziness. They dont want to adopt out children who still have parents who just cant find them. Maybe when they open them up again in 18+ months. If she hasnt changed her mind by then & gone on to the next tragedy…

    27. 27

Althought I agree with most of you, yes their plenty of children to adopt here in America. But there is more resources here in America for those children who need homes, than there is in Haiti or any other place. We are always so quick to judge people who try to make good. If you read up a little bit on why people like Angelina Jolie and Madonna go to to 3 world counties to adopt you'd understand a bit more.

    28. 28

I thought Haiti wasnt allowing people to ADOPT! Unless you were like one third of a way through the process! NO NEW Adoption plans will start now! is what Ive heard! hhhmmmmm…

    29. 29

Lordy, lordy, won't someone please save the "orphans" from the celebrities!!! If all of the celebs that want to go get them some Haitian orphans would simply donate the money they would spend raising that child, Haiti would be rebuilt in no time and the children could stay in their rightful home. Most of the displaced children are not orphans, they have just been separated from their parents, and even if their parents have died, they have aunts, uncles & grandparents who could and should be the ones raising them. They have been through the trauma of watching their home being destroyed, please stop adding the trauma of being taken to a foreign place by strangers.

    30. 30

I call bullshit on this one.I'm glad that people have helped Haiti but what about people in America. Can it please become trendy to adopt American children??

    31. 31

"I have just got to plan my schedule"… WTF??? Its a kid, not a lunch date. I sincerely hope this moron doesn't go ahead with this…

    32. 32

Is she married? You can't adopt from Haiti and be single. Tila Tequila said the same thing recently…. get some info before opening your mouth!

    33. 33

      5. I agree, orphans in Haiti are much worse off than orphans here. And just because I (and others) believe that, doesn't mean we think orphans here should be ignored and not adopted. It just means that some are more worse off than others. As I'm typing this there are thousands of people proceeding with adopting children right here in the US. And something tells me that even if adoptions weren't on hold in Haiti, there would still be little to no adopting going on. It's a poor country. Most people in Haiti can't afford to adopt (especially at a time like this). But people in the US can, and do.
      6. You all are missing the big picture if you think the country from which a child is adopted is the issue. It's not. The real issue is that millions of children around the world are starving, living in poverty, or worse, dying without anyone to care for and love them. We all need to do what we can to fix this, not just in our own country. It's not all about us.

All that being said, go for it Kristin! You would make an absolutely wonderful mother and I wish you the best of luck in whatever your future has in store for you.

    34. 34

      Wow people are negative.

      1. To whoever said something along the lines of "why doesn't she donate money to help" … she did. She already donated $5000 of her own money and her fan club is hard at work raising another $5000.
      2. It didn't take a "catastrophe" to make her want to adopt. She's been talking about adopting for years.
      3. If you knew anything at all about KC you'd know she wouldn't do this for publicity. She is all about helping others and following God's plan and doing whatever she can to make this world a better place.
      4. Just because she wants to adopt from Haiti does not mean she DOESN'T want to adopt from the US.

    35. 35

will she have food for the kid cause by the looks of it she dosen't even know what food is…eat somethin girl
she'd be so much prettier if she had some meat on her bones

    36. 36

WHAT AN AMAZING IDEA, KRISTEN!!! GO FOR IT!!! YOU & THE CHILD WILL BE LUCKY TO HAVE EACHOTHER. MY RESPECT AND ADMIRATION FOR YOU HAS JUST INCREASED IMMENSELY. I AM SO MOVED BY YOUR SPIRIT.

    37. 37

larry king had a show about this last week. unless you have already applied & are waiting your kinda outta luck. you can start the procedure now–but it will probably take about three years or longer because right now the last thing on their minds are adopting. they have enough on their hands cleaning up and then repairing the country. the orphanges have always been full and now even worst but they won't let the children just be adopted without going through all the paperwork. and a bigger concern now is child trafficking. they suggested on the show to start researching now and start your app. it will be interesting to see how quickly "important people" can get through this process. i hope she can–as i believe they need to make some exceptions in this tragedy.

    38. 38

Re: h8terboi – you are an ignorant person. you spew hateful words and i pity you. asshole.

    39. 39

To tomorrowdarling, $5000 is all very well and good but my point was that celebrities spend ridiculous amounts on raising their children. If all the celebs that suddenly want to adopt a Haitian donated THAT money, then Haiti would be able to look after their own children. The fact is that being taken from Haiti now would actually be massively traumatic for the children, not to mention the fact that many of them have family that they just haven't been reunited with. Everyone needs to take a breath and realise that swooping in and grabbing kids is just not the right thing to do!

    40. 40

ugh she annoys the crap out of me. overrated twat!!

Did i miss something? What happened to her? She looks like she has aged drastically quickly. Is she ok? I looked at a picture of her from 2008 to now and its just..jaw dropping. Hope her health is ok.
