Vanessa Williams Is Desperate Devastated!
ABC executives have pissed off Vanessa Williams and she is letting them know about it.
The Ugly Betty actress is less than pleased with the network for axing her show and points the finger at them for the show's shortcomings. She goes on the attack for first moving the crew and cast across country from L.A. to New York and then failing to give the show a strong time slot she felt the show deserved. She was quoted saying:
"I gotta be honest, we're devastated. We're sad, we're not ready for it to end. We just moved to New York. We just got on a roll. Our season this year has been the best we've ever had. But numbers and ratings (were a concern). A lot of people couldn't even find us. We switched - we were put on Thursday then taken off then (we were on) Fridays, now we're finally on Wednesday nights. But we're sad."
We're sure, but don't be burning any bridges now. Just because you find yourself out of job now and are looking to garner some pity, doesn't mean you should get on ABC's bad side. You never know what other show could want you down the road!

Ugly Betty was a really good show, but they were really running out of story lines that made sense. Now I want to see if Betty and Daniel end up together, like the original Betty La Fea!
At least Vanessa has talent and people like her, unlike you. And she's fucking gorgeous.
I love Vanessa. She is true talent and I really hope she get's picked up for another show. I also loved "Ugly Betty" but to be honest the show would not have been the same with Wilhimena (think I spelled that wrong lol) and I will really miss her character. Good Luck with everything V!

Uh - she may not have Ugly Betty any more but she's certainly not twiddling her thumbs. She's starring in the major, major soon-to-open Broadway show 'Sondheim on Sondheim'. It's going to be a big deal. I'm going to miss Ugly Betty and agree that, creatively, this season has been absolutely brilliant, but the mere fact that she has all the necessary triple-threat skills to open a Broadway show, makes me think that she's not going to be hard up for work in future.
I don't blame her. The show and cast were basically put on the back burner and given little support after moving to NY for production. These cross-country transfers seem to be cursed.
Um i watched the interview and she didnt say it like that nor did she once say "I blame ABC" you should watch the interview before you write this, but anyways she isnt trippin and she has a point ABC moved them around they should have left them on Thursday plus Vanessa is still on her grind she is about to be on Broadway soon sooo yeah, Ugly Betty was awesome sad to see it go, but Vanessa will still be around no worriws

Ugly Betty was a great show when it started. They went too fast with the storyline and weren't really true to Betty la fea who is supposed to be ugly, nerdy, uncommon to the multitude and struggling through it. Anyway, I'm glad Vanessa speaks the Truth. It's about time that persons begin to tell it like it is. The cast really do resemble a family off-screen and they Loved and Believed in their show. God Bless all of you.
Ugly Betty had the best cast. I'm going to miss them. Willy was my favorite part of the show besides Amanda and Marc.
On the contrary this season of "Ugly Betty" hasn't been that great BUT I am sad to see the show end. ABC pretty much killed the show when they kept switching its time slots.

I used to love Ugly Betty, but then it just got predictable: Mode or somebody at Mode is in a pickle, and Betty saves the day. They did have a great cast, though, and you had to love the campiness of the show, and Vanessa Williams was fierce! But I don't think she was being catty. She was just expressing her opinion, and she's right. I never knew when the show was on; I always had to catch it on Hulu.

She shouldn't worry, there are another 3 major networks out there as well as cable. Ugly Betty was the ONLY show I watched on TV and is now the LAST SHOW I will ever watch on ABC!!!
I am mad too because I loved this show. It just made me laugh week after week and it is a shame. Laughter is what life is all about. This is a sad shame.
First I watched it on Thursday, then it moved to Friday, then it moved to Saturday and well now they moved it to Wednesday - seriously what gives???? The show is well written and the acting is superb - and Vanesa plays her role so well - I am disappointed to hear it has been cancelled.

What would YOU have liked her to say? Grow the fuck up they've been doing the show for 4 years and yes ratings were slipping but ABC might as well have just canceled it the way they were changing it's time slot ESPECIALLY throwing it on friday nights. It sucks that a show as entertaining and creative as this has been cut short while people still tune in for rehashed crap like Cougar Town.
She's telling the truth and she's catty about it? I think not! They screwed over the show, they didn't even give it a chance on Wednesdays before they canceled it. I'm pissed, I only got to watch two episodes and then stupid basketball games took over my local channel, so I couldn't watch Ugly Betty when it came on! I had to watch it online, who thought it was a good idea to put college basketball games on when REGULAR primetime tv is supposed to be on! Why not put it on a Saturday or hey Friday is open again.
Such a bad thing to happen… now with Tivos and DVR's the shows can be at any time and it will record it, ABC screwed it up throwing it on Fridays, I still have them all recorded and havent watched them but now that i know its going to an end, i wonder how they will finish it since in the original she ends with Daniel…
NBC has 5 hours to fill with the end of the Leno show. How about one of those for Ugly Betty. They could use a hit at NBC. And this is as good as it gets. They were NOT running out of story ideas, their writers are second to none in TV - and every actor was well chosen and doing a solid job.
they should not have cancelled this show. i pray that another 'smart' network picks it up. i loved this show. it was so funny, smart, schticky and adorable. great casting. more stupid people in ties doing things that make no sense.
