Axl Rose Honors the Greats
Not only did the band dedicate their Toronto show last Thursday night to the Catcher in the Rye author J.D. Salinger, but their front man paid homage to another legendary rock band, before even getting the show started.
That night, the audience ended up waiting an extra two hours for the show to begin. When the band finally did hit the stage, Axl Rose was being wheeled out in a wheelchair, looking awful. But before the audience had time to get too concerned for the aging rocker, Axl lept from the chair and went into the the title song off of the Guns N' Roses new album.
Kurt Cobain pulled a similar stunt back in 1992 with Nirvana at Britain's Reading Festival.
Personally, we would have been missed if someone made us wait two hours for that lame prank, but perhaps Guns N' Roses fans are more forgiving.

I went to the GnR show in Toronto 3 years ago and he did the SAME THING except he didn't make up for it with a lame wheelchair stunt. The suicide girls had to repeat their show like twice, and when Axl and friends finally did start playing he couldn't get ppl out of their seats. I have pix of ppl sleeping.
Last Thursday? Way to stay current. Next you'll report the Falklands have been invaded (but I'd hate to see how your illiterate helper monkeys would spell that).

I went to a Guns N Roses concert about 4 m/b 5 years ago. With Papa Roach & Sebastain Bach opening. They started close to on time and even went later than expected. They were all awesome!!! But I miss Slash.
Axl and Kurt hated each other back in the day. Kurt did everything to get under his skin too, like asking Axl to be Frances' godfather. Axl is a douche and needs to buy some originality.

Word is that they had to get a physical therapist out of the crowd to give him a few adjustments before he could go out for a 2 hours and 40 mins show!!!!

Axl Rose has been comsumed by his douchery.
They still have fans…amazingly. Their concerts are fairly big in certain cities. But this band imploded in 1993, even before Cobain died.

I was at that show and while waiting an extra hour and 45 minutes for it to get started was annoying, they more than made up for it. Seeing Axl play November Rain has to be the concert highlight of my life.
Poor Axl. He was the perfect rock story. Kid from nowhere Indiana takes a greyhound bus to L.A. to pursue his rock n' roll fantasy, lives in poverty, meets the right other musicians and creates a killer first record, right place at right time and became, for a time, the biggest rock star in the world. Then he succumbed to tall the pitfalls of fame, drug addiction, megalomania, listening to astrologists, kicks out the other band members and becomes his own irrelevant tribute band. I'd feel sad for him if he wasn't so rich.
