Ellen Dishes On Idol And Simon!
Ellen DeGeneres might just be too sweet to be an American Idol judge!
The funny lady says that her opinion of Simon Cowell has changed — for the worse:
"I had one idea of Simon when I came in, and it's changed. He's actually meaner than I thought…It's hard to listen to him tell people things and me not to go, 'You poor thing!'"
Ellen also said she's having a hard time being critical of contestants, but she's getting better at it. She says:
"I'm getting good at delivering bad news, myself, but I'm trying to do it in a tender way. … I hate hurting people's feelings, so that, I think, is the hardest part.
"I think we have good people … I'm going to fight very, very hard to keep the people that I believe in, so that we have a wide variety … somebody for everybody, I hope."
Ellen debuts on Idol on February 9.
We can't wait to see her butt heads with Simon. We have a feeling she can hold her own!

I love Ellen but she has business being there at all. She shoudln't even be there.
It is too bad AI didn't do a few episodes with Ellen to see if she fit in with what the show is about. It is a show about evaluating talent honestly not a group hug. As well, the fact that Ellen is not in the music industry bugs me.
5 bucks she is gonna SUCK as a judge. What the hell did she expect a tea party. This is not a "talk show"

Someone has to be honest with these contestants and Simon is the only one that is willing to do so. Paula and Randy never gave really opinions. This nice act that she is putting on is annoying. I am not even sure why they have her on the show. What is her music qualifications.
Perhaps Ellen should have watched a show or two to understand what she was getting into?
It will be fun to see Ellen on Idol, but seriously, she's too nice. People tune in to see what happens when contestants get shot down. It's hard, but some people are over the top awful!
Shut your pie hole and be grateful that you are working. You should not be on the show at all. You have no business on AI. Go back to daytime TV. I liked you better when…well hmmm. Your brother is cool, what happened to you.
I don't mind Ellen but I don't think she should be on Idol - she's got no credentials to be there and obviously just wants to play nice guy. BORING!

Ellen's comments further back up why AI should have picked an experienced musical judge. Someone in the industry a long time wouldn't screw around…seen too many mediocre acts to lie to person about making it big in the music industry. And perhaps if Ellen had to sit through all of the auditions she wouldn't feel so kind hearted. When Kara came on board last year was she bitching as much about her job? Ellen… please shut up and do your job as a judge even though you are not qualified.
why doesnt she do a comedian version? We'd love to see Rosie O donnell, Richard Lewis, Chris Rock, etc etc as judges. It'd be way more fun to watch than seeing people get their feelings hurt on Idol
No offense to Ellen, she's a great talk show host but the music business and being an AI judge just isnt her thing. Some people seriously get to the auditions to be on national tv, not because they got great voices or anything. Some of them are just awful and Simon's being honest, and telling the truth. and if Ellen cant take it, well who cares about her, AI has been successful for years without her. Hell she is easily repleceable, so easily repleceable.
These comments just prove without a doubt that every story you posted about her being a bitch to Simon were LIES as usual. I never believed them for a second anyway. Love Ellen and cannot wait to have her on panel!

I just want to comment that some people need a reality check. They suck as singers and the way Simon tells them like it is is what they need. Look at all the sucky singers who claim that their paid singing coaches love them (lmao) and then they are horrendous! At least Simon doesn't lie and sugar coat things. That's why we love Simon! If Ellen lets them down easy they will keep audutioning and that gets expensive. Not like Simon is sticking around to care lol.
I hope this shit goes off the air soon and Ryan Seacrest has to go on food stamps…

How the hell can Ellen be worse than pill-popping paula? Whatever music experience she had was lost to brain damage years ago, and she was never really critical of anyone (or aware that she was even in the room).

Simon's worked in the industry his whole life, and so cuts to the chase; but I do believe that a person can learn to say exactly the same things in a better way.
