John Mayer Surprises Fans With A Free Show!

Okay okay, sometimes John Mayer isn't such a bad guy.
Mayer performed a free concert for fans from the University of South Carolina on Tuesday night!
John, who has been rehearsing for his upcoming tour in downtown Columbia, decided to treat the fans who had been reportedly "camping out" outside of his rehearsal space nightly.
"USC students: come watch us run the show tonight. Free," Mayer tweeted hours before the show.
500 fans were treated to a preview of John's set for his upcoming world tour, and tickled that ego of Mayer's real good!
"Thank you for helping us out," he told the crowd. "This is the way you should rehearse a show."

He was never a BAD guy, he's just open and says what no one else will, which makes me respect him.

i went to that show! and yes they only gave out 150 tickets but i went to the coliseum and waited outside and they let all the fans that waited outside in to see him! There were about 300 students there. He went through his entire set list and played the concert, sounds better in person than he does on cd. He may be a weird guy buy his concert was incredible!!!

That IS a great way to rehearse a show. A little bit of pressure to improve and polish the performance never hurts. Besides, a lot of students live on K.D. and this would boost spirits.
I was there and in the front row. It was AMAZING! I don't even go to USC (CC), but I knew the show was gonna happen ahead of time. It was pretty awesome. He actually cared what we thought of the set.
And yes — it was only 150 tickets. But he did let about 100 more people in who were too late to get tickets. He's a pretty cool guy. LOVE JM.
