Nobody is safe from the recession!
CBS' Katie Couric is facing a pretty steep pay cut due to the economy and some rightfully upset staff members!
Dozens of people have been let go from CBS already and Katie is currently making more than $14 million a year plus extra cash for non- Evening News appearances! An angry producer states:
"She makes enough to pay 200 news reporters $75,000 a year! It's complete insanity. We report with great enthusiasm how much bankers are making, how it is out of step with reality during a recession. Well, look at Katie!"
Fair point, but we're sure she isn't the only news anchor with an outrageous salary! Why don't they look at some of the popular male anchors' earnings as well?!

this sh*t just pisses me off - 14 million? really? and it's all of them, and then they have the audacity to report on the greedy wall st. bankers? they're ALL celebrities - ALL of them. some are more articulate than others, but they are NOT the ones doing the WORK - the researching, the reporting, the writing, they just smile and act silly and read what is written for them. WHY DO WE ALLOW THESE PEOPLE TO STEAL FROM US????? It's OUR money we're giving them.
everybody in show business needs to take a 95% paycut. none of them are worth the ridiculous amounts of money they are paid. they are not contributing members of society like teachers, doctors, firefighters, police officers, etc. playing make-believe, reading off of teleprompters, singing, dancing and making movies should not entitle one to riches. it's outrageous.

Letterman makes 32 million a year, and Charlie Sheen makes almost 900,000 dollars PER EPISODE. I bet the MALE execs salaries are outrageous too.

my sympathy is limited for her considering i was forced to take a $400 a month paycut recently, all in the sake of cutting back while at the same time the fucking professors i work with who make $100,000 a year or more are getting raises. I CALL BULLSHIT!!!

She didn't create today's media personality's pay structure. A lot of fields are grossly overpaid these days, right down the line. At least she didn't put the network into looming bankruptcy and then take a big 'bailout' and then overcompensate herself for no. good. reason. for years following, and then put legal spin out that 'nothing can be done.' I'd bet something can be done.

CBS evening news has whatever ratings they have because of Katie. Though I'm not a fan of hers at ALL.. she did earn her right to $14 mil. Working in the news business, what is everyone else complaining about anyway? Whatever they make is probably what they've always made working for the network. Be glad you're working at a network.. I know several people who would take your pay in a heartbeat to work network!

She used to make over $20 million a year at the TODAY show, she took a pay cut to go to CBS. Let her keep her $$$, everyone else is.
