Rip's Daughter Speaks, Torn Up!
Now that Rip Torn has been ordered to rehab after his drunken attempt at robbing a bank last weeked, his daughter Angelica is speaking out about her father's long-standing history with alcohol abuse.
"My father is a brilliant man, but so much has been wasted," said Angelica. "He's pissed away so much — so much of his time and so much of his talent."
Torn won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in 1983 for his role in Cross Creek as well as six Emmy nominations for his work on HBO's The Larry Sanders Show.
Angelica finds her father's addiction and legal troubles "heartbreaking," but believes his stint in rehab will force Torn to "face the truth" about his drinking problem.
"It almost seemed like my dad was finally back," said Angelica after talking to him on his way to the rehab facility. "I told him to have fun, and he laughed and said he'd try."
Let's hope Rip accepts the treatment he receives!

Alcoholism is devastating to families when a member of the family has it, my mom was one. Alcohol recovery is forever, I hope Mr. Torn does recover and return to what he does best…Acting.
Been there, done that. She sounds lovely and well equipped for whatever happens. An ability to step back while overseeing with love is critical. He certainly is brilliant, thus perhaps a bit tortured at times. He'll be ok. A consequence like Jail can do that. : )

Rip Torn is such a brilliant actor, but I can almost hear him saying under his breath, "This is horseshit."
I hope they drop most of the felony charges. You know he was not trying to rob the bank.
