Country star Carrie Underwood will be taking on a role in the indie drama Soul Surfer based on Bethany Hamilton, the 13-year-old girl who lost her arm in a shark attack and went on to win professional championships.
Carrie will be playing the part of a church youth leader. Other cast members include Dennis Quaid, Helen Hunt, AnnaSophia Robb, Lorraine Nicholson and…Kevin Sorbo?!
They had us until Sorbo — since when does he get decent movie roles?
Regardless, are U looking forward to see Carrie Underwood on the silver screen?

CU is a pretty girl and a great singer but her body movements/language are awkward, uncomfortable to watch onstage. I can picture her in a scene just reading a cue card while all the actors stare with confusion on how she made it this far as an artist when she obviously has no stage presence. just my opinion

I think Carrie will do awesome! I'm so excited for this. Plenty of musicians have transitioned over to the big screen in small roles and did fine. It's not like she's playing the lead in some huge blockbuster. I think this is a good starting point. Stop always being so negative about Carrie, Perez!

Re: ddnett11 – BS. Carrie was shy on American Idol but she is an incredible singer and performer now. She is no longer shy or awkward on stage, but rocks out to Guns n Roses and plays guitar. She has come a long long way since American Idol when she was shy and stiff.
Also Carrie has a college degree and graduated magna cum laude, so she is certainly intelligent enough to take on acting.
