Defending T-Swizzle

Taylor Swift may have had a shaky performance at the Grammy Awards on Sunday, but she did come home with four awards. And if you ask the president of her label Big Machine, Scott Borchetta, they were well deserved.

He feels that T-Swizzle's critics “are not getting it."

Borchetta continued:

“The facts say she is the undisputed best communicator that we’ve got. When she says something, when she sings something, when she feels something, it affects more people than anybody else.”

Maybe she’s not the best technical singer, but she’s probably the best emotional singer because everybody else who gets up there and is technically perfect, people don’t seem to want more of it. If you pick any of those artists that performed [at the Grammys], I’m sure you can go online and find something where you go, ‘ew.’ Maybe in that moment we didn’t have the best night. But in the same breath, maybe we did. And nobody is arguing with the awards.”

Supposedly, Taylor had a technical problem during her performance, in which she could not hear the complete mix of the song.

We totally believe it! He shouldn't have even claimed that T-Swizzle is not the best technical singer! Just giving in to critics!

Although, we loves her regardless!

She really IS a terrible singer. I mean i like her lyrics BUT she cant carry a tune. Not sure she deserves the fame she got.

    2. 102

oh… and she looks like a Siamese cat. Why ANYONE would think she is pretty is beyond me. They are just letting the media tell them who to think is pretty. This girl is NOT!!!

    3. 103

Ok…how old is Taylor Swift? Like…19 or 20 or something? That's still SO young in comparison to other artists who were nominated and who performed that night. She is amazing and her performance really seemed like SHE didn't think/believe that she DESERVED to be there. I think she looked AFRAID of the audience. Embrace it "T-Swizzle," people like you and WANT to see you perform and excel! And that is pretty rad!
But…if she really can't sing and/or has no "real and lasting" credibility…she'll fade away. If she does though, she'll rise to the occasion.

      The girl can,t sing!

    5. 105

she really can't sing…she is amazing in all other areas but unfortunately it's nothing without the vocals. i really don't think she deserved any of the grammys, or even the nominations. YOU NEED THE VOCALS. at least people like britney have electronic stuff masking the weakness, but taylor tries to put her actual voice out, and she just shouldn't be doing that with the weak voice she has.

    6. 106

ok if it was someone else and they had "technical problem" u would be all over them, criticizing them and whatever…. no one should get special treatment
and we all know "technical problem" is just a word they use to cover up instead of admitting their mistakes.

Taylor Swift may have sold a lot of records but that sure as hell doesn't give her the right to share the stage with Stevie Nicks and majorly butcher an iconic song like Rhiannon. How tragic is it that she was oblivious to the fact that she was off key and completely off rhythm…seemed almost tone deaf during her performance. It only served to remind people when music was magic with bands like Fleetwood Mac and lyrics written by Nicks) like Landslide"

    8. 108

Kanye was right all along! He should replace Simon on American Idol.

    9. 109

She is a SHILL for the music industry!!!!!! I don't blame her though because she seems to be very down to earth and a likable person. The same way I hated George W. Bush but I love his wife Laura. She is just so damn likable!!!! How did he end up with her? :)

I am SO tired of the tone-deaf teeny bopper Taylor Swift fans defending her squeaky and monotone singing. And, I am SO glad more people are FINALLY realizing that Taylor Swift can't sing! HELLO, wake up people, did you watch the CMA awards, the ACM Awards, the Grammy's or for that matter, ANY of her performances?! Homegirl can't sing, and that's the truth. Like others have said, this was not an "off night" or a night in which "she couldn't hear her voice" I'm so friggin tired of excuses. Do you see Carrie Underwood, Martina McBride, or Reba having those problems? NO, because these COUNTRY singers actually have the VOCAL ABILITY, unlike Taylor. Taylor, do us all a favor, choose a genre, just chose POP and stick with it, because COUNTRY MUSIC doesn't want you.

    11. 111

We all know this little career of yours was all masterly planned to bring you in as an innocent "country girl" that plays a guitar, has blonde hair, and sings about high school heartbreak. Enough of that, you're embarrassing the country music industry by saying "Thank you so much, because I sing country music"…honey there ain't nothin country about your POP remixes you send to radios to get mass appeal. I guarantee you, Scott Borchetta, watch ANY and I mean ANY Taylor Swift video on youtube and you'll say "ew" because I press MUTE any time she comes on TV and change the radio channel any time I hear her. So sick of this wanna be country "singer". Go ahead, get your BMI songwriting awards, but don't steal awards away from real vocalists, yea VOCALISTS like Carrie Underwood who sings live better than her CD's for country music awards or Grammys. The world has come to the realization that you can't sing, a resounding PRAISE THE LORD! GOODBYE!

you cannot deny that this girl will look even more fugly without make-up and has incredibly squinty eyes.
it bothers me that, Perez, you hate on truly gorgeous and talented artists like rachel bilson, and leanne rimes, yet you continue to kiss ass when it comes to talentless girls like taylor. i mean, i get it, she's nice in person and her songs sound catchy. but you gotta have a bottom line with ass kissing. it was clearly an isult to the real vocalists like beyonce and faith hill and lady gaga even, though i don't like her much, when tswift got so many grammys she didn't deserve.
if it were avril then you'd be slamming her relentlessly woudn't you?

    13. 113

The sound technicians who work on her albums likely have to work overtime to make her awful voice sound tolerable to listen to.

    14. 114

Shes cute, and shes sweet, and she has nice lyrics, but the girl cant sing :/

    15. 115

Re: Jujubean88 – Avril Lavigne is a lot better than Taylor Swift in the vocal department. Even Britney is marginally.

    16. 116

      Re: MJJ – Completely agree.

    17. 117

I love her so much !

    18. 118

finally the truth comes out! I actually hope she fails at every other performance she does just to cement the fact that she sucks. I know its mean…. but jesus she is HORRIBLE! Scott Borchetta could have found a much more talented girl. But this one had the money already behind her from daddy.

    19. 119

Perez…once again, mad respect for you, but are you deaf? She can't sing.

    20. 120

I believe that there were problems with the earpiece and everything also, because I have seen Taylor in concert, and she was singing live, and sounded perfect. Considering you've also seen her in concert, I'm sure you would agree with me, Perez. :)

    21. 121

Madonna is the queen and Britney will always be the princess. Taylor is good but she isn't the best. I like her music but I would never go out and buy her CD
