Another steal from oh no they didnt
That's fucking expensive as shit for a meal. What, is it like a two piece meal, with a side & a drink for $7.50? I could get the same thing at KFC for like $3 less.
thats sad & wrong!
that is SOUTHERN food, not black people food, although it is a stereotype…one that is true, but because if you are a southern black person, you probably grew up on fried chicken, as did many white people though….
That's not racist, that's delicious. Shoot, I wish they were celebrating Black History Month like that where I work! Celebrating Southern Cuisine is great, so stop being so sensitive and pull up a plate!
Sounds Yummy
We eat tacos when we talk about latin america? I dont see the issue. Past with Italian? its now offensive to eat what is a culturally popular food?
sounds hella good! i dont see nothing wrong with it. but ummm hello! where's the watermelon?!?!
..
that is hillarious!
MMMMMM
hahahahahahahahahhaha
Love it! Southern Comfort Food in L.A.!
Sounds good to me! This reminds me of one of my teachers- she got upset because they served watermelon every day during Black History Month!
Who gives a shit?
Re: suzettea – hahahah i agree
all depends on how good it is. if its nasty you better call reverend al
if not then let it be and grab some
This is a very stereotypical menu and as it has already been stated, this is not black people food, it is southern food. NBC is retarded.
It's the same deal as American chinese food. I'm sure you consider the piles of MSG and lard you shovel in your mouth Chinese food.
What, no watermelon?
NBC - just when you think they can't get any worse or any more stupid…
I would love to have this meal….it's just a typical southern meal. Everybody just needs to chill out.
PROPAGANDA!!!!!!when you gotta pull a race card you are desperate!!
I'm black and I'm not a huge fan of black eye peas WTF is jalapeño cornbread never heard of it maybe cuz I'm born an raised in NYC but EWW the only thing on here j wud consider eating is chicken cuz that's like the only meat I eat this kind of racist Blac people PLZ get over it we will always be made fun of it sad but hey it dusnt hurt me they must feel really bad about themselves they barely have blac people on dis station I'm not surprise
Wow! So NBC feels that all black people eat fried chicken and collard greens?!
That's a little racists! What are they having for President's Day mayonnaise sandwhich's and a six pack of Blue Ribbon?!
UMM OK? I WOULD BE HONORED TO HAVE BLACK HISTORY MONTH FOOD AT MY
WORK!!!!!!
WTF IS WRONG WITH THIS PEREZ??? YOUR BURNING OUT & MAKING SOMETHING OUT OF NOTHING….
LAME. LAME. LAME.
They shouldn't have said "in honor of black history month" and then it wouldn't have been an issue. Not to defend them, but I have lots of black friends and they have certain things they eat that are staples of their diet. Just like Germans, Mexicans, Jews, Italians etc. Every culture has their "things" that others associate with them eating..
okay first of all that is some good food, that is not racist. Also, many black people do in fact like this food, what's wrong with that??? Like tacos are mexican food, and not ALL mexicans like it but i'm sure a lot do.
I would be ecstatic if I came to work and that's what I got to eat.
Re: BELLABABY12 – I totally agree wit u blac people in NYC doesn't eat stuff like that I'm blac an I love whole wheat pasta I live n da projects in manhattan jalapeño corn bread oh Dee what is that please nasty stuff
Nothing shocking or wrong, it's part of history!!wtf!!
!!
Love B.E.P.
Heck yeah I'd be offended if I was black! They left out the watermelon!
LMFAO
What? No ham hocks?
damn that sounds good right now
for anything this is a southern food trust black people up north don't really eat all that shit so its kinda unnecessary to put for black history month
idk sound like someone trying to be funny btw
Aw..whats wrong with that? How is that racist? It sounds like some good food.
It,s called incredible soul food and it's not racist it's something cool that nbc is doing.
Re: suzettea –
Amen, sister! That is exactly what I was thinking. Racially insensitive? Eh, perhaps, but delicious nontheless!
I'm OUTRAGED! You can get the same thing at Popeye's fried chicken for $2.99
yeah that list isnt racist AT ALL ::insert major sarcasam:: funny thats something i'd expect from FOX NEWS or something.
Perez-stop being a spaz. It's more southern food but EVERYONE loves that stuff. I grew up on it.
omg this was the same thing at the dining hall at my college last night…
Whoa.
No malt liquor?
its in every soul food restaurant just like burritos are in every mexican….. whoever said it is a stereotype is wrong, fried chicken and collard greens = soul food = African American Food. Albeit not from every region and some white people from heavily african american populated areas also enjoy, BUT STILL Enough African Americans identify with it enought to put it on the menus of soul food restaurants. Therefore it is PERFECTLY REASONABLE to serve it on ONE DAY in BLACK HISTORY MONTH. Think of an analogy in any other race and there would be no problem. If many African Americans are offended by this then I stand corrected.
how the hell would want jalapeno cornbread?
People gotta lighten up on the political correctness. Seriously man!
that sh*t is freakin awesome, people need to stop getting there pannies in a damn wad, not everything is done with ill intent, black people brag about there food all the time how "soul food" is the best kinda food out there, so why complain when someone offers you what you would wind up making for dinner anyway? would it be regionally insensitive if we had a new orleans day and they made zumbalia? i think not, should the irish be offened when people hang little green men and drink green beer and eat corned beef on saint pattys day?
sounds delicious to me !
that sounds really good right now.
Re: suzettea – You know that's what's up!!
I only wish I were there with my 7.50 and a cot because after all that, the ITIS is sure to follow!
Re: blondes_do_it_better – who the fuck is complaining but perez??
and again this is not the definition of"black people food"
hell i never heard of collard greens until i moved to the south
This made me hungry!
Re: justme09 – Black people up North are DESCENDANTS of Black people down south (if you are a descendant of slavery) so yeah… we DO.
Ex out the jalapeno corn bread though, that sounds awful
It's soul food! I guess I can see how people can view this as stereotyping and get offended but I don't think NBC was trying to say everyone that is black eats this type of food on a regular basis or anything, but rather this is one type of traditional African-American cuisine that has emerged in the U.S.
I dont see the issue, now if they said pigs feet and watermelon well then that would be a different story!
I call BS
How is Soul Food during Black history month racially insensitive? People serve Mexican food on Cinco de Mayo and corned beef and cabbage on St. Patty's Day.
Re: LadaLove – lol what the hell are you talking about i lived in both places and culturally its completely diffrent im a descendant of africa does that mean i eat the shit they do??
and maybe YOU eat that but based on my experience living up north and having family up north none of them eat that shit other then fried chicken perhaps
Swallow much?
But… its Southern food! not exactly "black" food. I don't know. Laugh about it, it shouldn't be a huge deal.
What's "racist" is the fact that there is a 'Black History Month' at all. Not to mention BET, Miss Black America Pageant, hundreds of "historically" black colleges, thousands of black-only scholarships, black-only magazines like Black Hair, Black Entrepreneur, Jet, etc., etc. Call your local college and ask them if there is a white student union on campus. They will say, "No, that would be racist." Think about it.
This is crummy. Where's the watermelon on the menu!
What if I don't want Black Eyed Peas… what if I just want Fergie??
obviously a joke….
who are you to talk about insensitivity Perez?
You call women 2+ fat, straight men gay, & anyone who doesn't go ape shit bananas over Gaga delirious. SHUT THE FUNK UP
wheres the grape drink?
That's southern soul food; credit for said deliciousness is historically given to black people. Unwad thy panties.
Re: suzettea – I agree. mmm mmm GOOD!
I work in Los Angeles….the hospital I work in always has a few black history month similar meals…..every year. Never heard one negative word about it from anyone. I really never gave it much thought. I think someone would have been really offended if the meal came with some watermelon.
Re: kickdrum – lol are yall still actually trying to have that weak ass arguement hey dumb shit think about when all these black colleges, magazines, and tv stations came out
hmmm lets think blacks were not allowed in white universitys in the early 1990's therefor they put up black colleges ever notice how most black colleges are in the south…..BET came out when whites refuse to air black videos so it would only make sense to make a station were black showed there musical talent also right???black magizines like ebony and jet have been around since the 60's when blacks would never be shown on any magazine affiliated with white people you think because whites are now socially accepting blacks and out entertainment that we should tear down all these schools put down all these magazines and get rid of the scholarship funds get real
black history month which is the shortest month by the way is just a time to look at black achievements because its so rarely taught in the schools get the fuck over it and stop bitching there is nothing racist about it
im,blac and i know what we eats-its Grape juice and no frills orange soda
chicken feet and hog bellys-and i love ham and eggs. and my favorite
Real Brave Warrior soup, only real concerned and intellengent peoples knows what this is
NBC- SMH
I swear there are just some stupid people that work at corporations that wake up in the morning and do stupid things just to get fired.
I've worked at a couple of jobs who participated in potlucks for black history month and they were delish, it's mostly Southern food (yummy). We also had a potluck for Cinco de Mayo with a Mexican food theme. Since when is eating cultural food racist…Jeeeez ….people are so sensitive.
It isn't racist. The put "fountain soda" and "water". Wouldn't be racist unless it said "Grape drink".
that's sounds delicious. IT'S SOUL FOOD BABY! southern cuisine, hits the spot. except black eyed peas
Fire the ass of the person posting this and the people going by and leaving it up. This is outrageous!
No, I see nothing wrong w/ it. I'm SO sick of black people being so sensitive about EVERYTHING. They feel the whole world owes them something…get over it!
I work for a big company in the south, so the fact that they have this menu where I work was never a suprise. The fact that NBC in LA is doing this is just hystercal to me…
Stupid! Italian Day…Pasta and meatballs…Irish Day…Cabbage, potatoes, beer…Gay Day…Weenies, pork and beans
I kinda think it just sounds yummy! I wish I could have that for lunch!
I am way confused on why water is part of the menu. Oh wait you need that to mix the Koolaid.
Discusting!
ARE THEY SERIOUS?!!! WTF?!!!
Okay, to me this really isn't a big deal. I know many black people who make some mean fried chicken and collard greens. I don't think that's racist at all — it's a compliment, really. They make some delicious food!
People are too sensitive and "politically correct" these days. Take a chill pill everyone. It's not a big deal. And that looked like southern food to me…
Re: suzettea – I love your attitude!
It's a southern meal, something totally foreign to yankeeville and la la land. I bet if they had put up a different menu you'd still pick out something to complain about.
People need to lighten up! "Racial insensitivity"? Please. Fuck political correctness, and all that shit. Makes me wanna puke.
Re: STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE –
never had soul food? its fucking delicious!
isn't that what they eat?
big freakin deal , can we get over it all ready i'm irish-american i like boiled dinners (cabbage-carrots-potatoes-onions-cornbeef) + fish n' chips .who cares who eats what. it's ignorant assholes always trying to stir the pot to make trouble because they're lame. lighten the hell up perez you douch . this guy causes more trouble than anyone i know. he's the ignorant jackass if there ever was one. he perez want to here something funny i have some black friends that love italian!!!!! what do you say about that….yeah i thought so…
That's absolutely terrible. Where the hell is the watermelon?
This looks like some kind of joke, and honestly if I were black I would be offended as hell-If they want to have a day with southern cuisine, fine, but to say it is in honor of Black History Month is offensive. It also sells black people short-not ALL black people eat that type of food, and one type of cuisine cannot define them. If NBC wants to honor Black History Month-maybe they should try to look into the various cuisines that make up the experience and not just "friiiied chikin and callad greens" ughh.
What? No watermelon for dessert?
Why is this menu racist? If it's cooked right it is delicious. I'm having KFC for Superbowl and might go to Popeye's to get biscuits and red beans and rice. Stop trying to look for shit that is not there. Perez, I can whip you up some chitlins and greens; okra, corn and tomatoes that will make you slap yo mama! Bon Apetit!
If you're going to celebrate black history you have to do it right! Black people in America's ancestors mostly came from the South, and the Southerners eat fried chicken and collards.
they forgot
ham hocks, bacon grease, grits, watermelon, chitterlings, kool aid, fried okra and catfish =]
Oh, I almost forgot, does anyone black work for NBC other than Ice-T? Crabman is gone after they canceled "My Name is Earl".
fried chicken who cares most black people love it, i guess nbc figures wtf might as well make them sumthin they actually like
So what people drink Corona's for 5 de Mayo, and eat dumplings for Chinese New Year. You know what they forgot? Fresh produce, watermelon.
Since when is it racism to celebrate one's culture witht he foods popular in their culture. That is done all around the world all the time. Get a frickin' life.
