Kelly Clarkson Responds To Bashing From Taylor Swift's Camp!
Big Machine Records CEO Scott Borchetta recently defended Taylor Swift's Grammy performance as it has been on the receiving end of some criticism.
Borchetta blamed a technical difficulty, but he also had this to say:
"This is not American Idol. This is not a competition of getting up and seeing who can sing the highest note. This is about a true artist and writer and communicator. It's not about that technically perfect performance."
Well Kelly Clarkson, the first-ever winner of American Idol, wasn't going to take that comment lying down and she wrote Borchetta an open letter on her blog in response to his snarky comment:
Wow …..Dear Scott Borchetta,
I understand defending your artist obviously because I have done the same in the past for artists I like, including Taylor, so you might see why its upsetting to read you attacking American Idol for producing simply vocalists that hit ‘the high notes’. Thank you for that ‘Captain Obvious’ sense of humor because you know what, we not only hit the high notes, you forgot to mention we generally hit the ‘right’ notes as well.
Every artist has a bad performance or two and that is understandable, but throwing blame will not make the situation at hand any better. I have been criticized left and right for having shaky performances before (and they were shaky) and what my manager or label executives say to me and the public is “I’ll kick butt next time” or “every performance isn’t going to be perfect” ……I bring this up because you should take a lesson from these people and instead of lashing out at other artists (that in your ‘humble’ opinion lack true artistry), you should simply take a breath and realize that sometimes things won’t go according to plan or work out and that’s okay.

Kelly's voice rocks the shit out of people. Taylor Swift, not so much. Seriously i don't even like Adam Lambert that much but the guy's got talent! Same goes for Carrie, J-Hud and Kelly. TSwift shouldn't even be put in the same sentence as these dudes, duh.

As someone who has witnessed Taylor in-person as a professional, I can assure you, she CANNOT sing in-tune; it's a well-known fact. She can ONLY sing her own songs, somewhat more in-tune, which is due to "muscle memory, more than anything else. For certain, she CANNOT sing other peoples' music, as attested by the horrific performance of "Rhiannon"; and btw, Stevie Nicks can't sing either — she's a great writer, but sounds like a dying goat. She lost her voice years ago after rampant cocaine abuse, again another fact that she herself attests to. I'm on team Kelly on this one.
Taylor Swift CAN NOT sing at ALL. She is annoying as hell. Seems like a nice girl but needs to stop singing. Lady Gaga deserved to win at the grammys. Her music sucks, her voice sucks. I doubt she even writes her songs. She can not hold any notes. and as far as the whole excuse of she has 'emotion'? Ya If talent was based on that I'm sure there would be wayyy more muscians in the music business who has emotion. Doesn't mean they have talent or are good at making music. GTFO TAYLOR SWIFT.
I'm a massive Taylor fan, she's wonderful, but even I have to admit she cannot sing. She can write amazingly well, and sometimes she sounds really great in her "range" but when she strains herself she sounds really bad. Kelly and artists like Carrie Underwood can belt out better than any other artists out there, Taylor cannot compare.

I agree with, Taylor Swift sucks at singing live PERIOD!!! And Kelly Clarkson can sing live, and was right, can hit the right note. I mean if Taylor was a contestant an AI, Simon would have her ass for lunch because she sucks. I guess her and these other people who can't sing live should really thank their producers and behind the scene people, who make them sound so much better on disc. And give their Grammy's to them.

Seriously, Kelly Clarkson earned my respect for her obvious talent on American Idol, but her recent (or my newfound attention) to her blogs in reguards to certain incidents have really left me in awe of her. I applaud her for her girth to stand up for what is right and speak her mind, one of the many aspects of her that I would like to have a stronger stance on in my own life. I appreciate her words and I agree with what she has said.

Perez you are delusional about your precious Taylor Swift! She is the worst singer in any genre of music, period! There were no technical difficulties. The only technical difficulties are Taylor's crummy voice. She has sucked at every award show so far, and she is not getting better at all.
Carrie Underwood, Jen Hudson and Kelly sing circles around the talentless offkey Taylor. She is over-rated, over-hyped, and over-exposed. Whoever voted for Taylor over Carrie Underwood for Female Vocal Performance was smoking something strong.

Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Daughtry & Jen Hudson are 10000x more genuine and talented then Taylor, and they are real artists. Carrie writes her own songs too, and 7 made her new album. Kelly is a songwriter too, as is Daughtry. Carrie and Daughtry both play guitar, and Carrie also plays piano. So they do everything Taylor does, but better. And the difference is, they sing on key, while Taylor sucks.
Re: Latina8 – hardly. Carrie Underwood is a country singer and she sings circles around Taylor as well as many pop singers. Carrie has a huge range and power and never sings in the same tone, as you alleged. She can sing any genre too…because that is what good singers do. Don't judge Country singers based on taylor's horrid voice, because she is not even country anyway… and every single female country singer BUT taylor has a nice voice.

I love how the one who can't sing a note for shit got the grammys and the ones who can sing live didn't. I love how Taylor can't sing, I hate her fakeness and her voice just adds to the joke of her 'singing' career.
In my opinion, Taylor Swift never has a good performance. It is pretty sad, though, that her record company would say a thing like that because Taylor also lacks 'artistry.' What is so creative and great about a 20 something year old girl who sings a song called 'Fifteen' and is always talking about annoying teenage girl cliches. Taylor Swift makes me hate being a teenage girl, and music in general.
Perez—I am a huge fan of yours, but seriously you are making me think less and less of you every time you blog about, Taylor Swift. I have NO idea what your (along with the press) fascination is about her. She can not sing. You usually always speak the truth about people, but when you talk about her it's all lies. She is not chic, she can't dress, she can't sing or perform, and she is definitely not worthy of any of the awards she won this year. I hope you read all your comments, because most of the comments in response to her are all negative towards her.

also i don't see why people think tswift writes well. i mean the lyrics were fine for songs like "change" and "fearless" but that's about it. if you listen to the whole album you'll find the same lyrics being repeated over and over again.
and just wait until her next album comes out and the figures drop. pretty sure a lot of her fans have finally woken up and seen how "great" a singer she is.

Taylor Swift CANNOT sing! She has sucked at every single one of her live events from the CMA's to SNL to her late-night gigs to her horrible appearance on CMT's Crossroads with Def Leppard. This girl wouldn't know how to find a song key if it was tied around her neck. Her manager made a complete ass out of himself because it wasn't necessary. Music has never been just about singing. Everyone knows she can't sing but here's the thing…NO ONE CARES! Britney, Katie Perry, Miley Cyrus, Madonna, Paula Abdul, Bob Dylan, Kesha, Bruce Springsteen, etc. can't sing either. But they either have good songs, great storytelling ability, entertainment value, good looks, or a combo thereof. By creating this "defense" he made himself, and Swift, look like complete morons. She connects with little girls and their moms who actually still buy records. That makes her important…at least for now.

Taylor is great, but she needs to work on her live singing. She's gotta learn how to keep her pitch and control her voice. She sounded really whiney and out of breath at the Grammy's. Kelly meanwhile, could blow her out of the water. Thanks for speaking up, Kel! You're amazing!

Her album sales are slipping it's a FACT SH sold almost 7 mill, CR just reached 3 mill (after over 2 n 1/2 years), PO (3 months out) 1.2 mill….yea her time is just about done. Good voice, nice songs BUT that's all she has to offer. Everything else is fake and manufactured by her marketing team. It gets old after a while. The fact that taylor Swift is a threat to her is Fn hysterical to me and I love every minute of it. Why don't you try concentrating on Carrie and why you love her rather then insult and bitch out everyone else who doesn't give a damn about her or Taylor drama.
