So sad!
Sources involved with Brittany Murphy's autopsy have revealed that her untimely death was preventable.
The main causes of her death were pneumonia and severe anemia, both of which were treatable but she wasn't taken to the hospital in time to do so.
In addition ,the drugs found in her system were prescription including cramp medication and over-the-counter cough syrup.
The drugs "pushed her over the line," but the fact remains that the pneumonia and anemia were the major cause of her death.
It's such a shame that she couldn't take care of herself and that those close to her didn't realize it in time to help her.

Simon did say the only things she took were medications for cramps. The cold medicine was probably because she felt like she was sick. No harm in that. Maybe they thought it was just that…a cold. So they didn't think a hospital visit was necessary. No one is at fault here. There is no suspicion. She just didn't think that she was deathly ill.
This is sad and scary , I nearly died last may from the same thing. Only reason I went to hospital was because I passed out in the hallway with people there who took me or else the same could have happened. How sad man. So young aswell.

All this time, Perez has been trying to make us believe she died as a result of abuse of illicit drugs (i.e. heroin, cocaine, oxycodone). In the end it turns out that wasn't what caused Brittany's tragic death after all. Still, do his loyal readers get an APOLOGY for his constantly shoddy reporting and pathetically inaccurate writing? Nope. The Internet cockroach, yet again, tries to sweep his failures under the rug by saying "more on", implying that additional info came to light. People die in every hospital in the U.S. EVERY, single day from pneumonia……BUT, it is never noted that their death was ACCIDENTAL. NEVER! NEVER! NEVER! NEVER! NEVER! NEVER! There is a lot to be said about the language that is used.
I think that Perez hates beautiful women, but in this case his report and the reports of every other blogger and news person, may save a young woman's life. Everyone out there needs to be aware that community acquired pneumonia is treatable however you are much more likely to become ill if your immune system is compromised for some reason…ie you have the flu already, you are being treated with chemo, you are young or elderly, OR YOU HAVE AN EATING DISORDER OR ARE USING DRUGS…prescription or otherwise. Charlie Sheen's wife also had pneumonia and was treated for a serious case and then ended up in rehab. How many clean young people do you know that have died from pneumonia without an underlying health condition. There is more to the story…wait and see.

She was lucky that she fainted and had breathing troubles and ended up at the hospital or she may not have been treated in time. There are a lot of people in the world who dont go to the doctor when they are ill for whatever reason - this is one more reason that when the people we care about are ill and claim they dont need to go to the doctor that we step in and force them. It's sad, and was so preventable.

Pneumonia symptoms can vary greatly, and furthermore, can sneak up on a person; and anemia is difficult to diagnose in yourself. Maybe she had that mystery flu. How many here have gotten a chest cold, (which can be hard to differentiate from pneumonia in yourself), but decide to manage it on your own because it's always gone away on its own before? Yeah. You have to be really tuned in to your own body when you're sick, and better safe than sorry and see a doctor when in doubt.
Even the people around her who loved her wouldn't have known that something was really wrong unless she told them. She obviously didn't even twig onto it herself. Sad. She was a sweet girl. RIP.

Re: PinkyGirl – I had pneumonia a couple of years ago and I thought it just was a really bad cold. I felt like shit, but I figured it would pass.. After 12 days I finally went to the doctor and he couldnt believe how I could stand up straight. I lay in bed for 3 weeks after my trip to the emergency room. So shit happends, when youre young you dont think youre going to die. Simple as that.

Yes, people do die of pneumonia every day, and they're usually people who are old and frail, or otherwise in compromised health. Healthy people in their early 30s don't suddenly die of pneumonia and anemia. Long-term drug abuse runs the body down so that infections can thrive and you have to be pretty out of it not to be motivated by the symptoms of anemia to go to the doctor. The autopsy said drugs were a contributing factor, which is consistent with a finding of long-term abuse (rather than primary overdose).

Yes, it is a shame that it was preventable…but she was on medication that is supposed to help it. When a person is sick, especially during cold/flu season, they always lean toward the medicine section of CVS, etc. they don't automatically go to the doctor, everyone is guilty of this. This was a tragedy and a rather weird series of events…stop reporting on it, she deserves much better
ah :[ pneumonia is definitely no joke… someone i know is very much sick from that (at first we thought h1n1) but this was the root of the problem… so anyone who has even just a hint of a dizzy spell or know for sure that something is not right go to the doctor!!!
