Sad news for longtime fans of NBC's Days of Our Lives.
Actress Frances Reid passed away yesterday at the age of 95.
Reid played Alice Horton on the soap from 1965 before making her final appearance on December 2007.
She even won the Daytime Emmy's Lifetime Achievement Award back in 2004 and appeared in roles on both As the World Turns and The Edge of Night.
Actress Allison Sweeney, who plays Sami on Days of Our Lives, took to her Twitter page to express her thoughts. Said Allison:
"I'm so sad to hear the news about Frances Reid. She was a truly talented actress and we are all lucky and proud to have known her."
So sad, but thankfully she lived a long life.

I grew up with "Days of our Lives." Been watching for 25 years now. It is like losing another grandma. Much love to Frances, Alice, and Alice's doughnuts.

I remember when the old guy died and I thought, "I wonder if they will keep the mom on much longer…" and that was like, 20 years ago! Hope they will make an event out of it on the show. She deserves it!
So sad…she was a great actress and her character was always the calming force on that show. She could hold her own, and from what I understand, Alice made some great donuts!

Who couldn't help but love Alice Horton and her plate of donuts? I always found her as cute as a button. My sympathy to her loved ones and friends and I'm very appreciative for the years of entertainment she gave her fans.

So Sad…. but a long and healthy life she had. The show hasn't been the same without Mrs H. I really hope Days will do a proper full hour tribute show regarding her death and bring back characters from the past (not just Doug and Julie.. although we want them too!!) to have a full church of people at her funeral.
