Yesterday, we posted a picture of Lindsay Lohan arriving at the Chateau Marmont with a suspicious orange bottle peeking out from her bag. Our concerns must have reached her little ears this morning as she released a statement explaining the medication. Lindsay says:
"They are trazodone… a non-narcotic sleeping aid for when I travel. They've been prescribed to me since I was in rehab!"
Um, you consider driving across town to have dinner a trip? We know the traffic is bad in El Lay, sweetie, but c'mon! That's a stretch!
Needless to say, we're skeptical. Maybe tonight's EXPLOSIVE interview will shine more light on the subject!

I take trazodone, 100 mg tablets, and not once have I ever gotten messed up on them. The only thing you feel from them is sleepyness, and sometimes the next morning you are still a bit groggy.

Trazadone is a medication used to treat depression and bipolar, specifically to aid sleep. It is heavy shit, despite not being a narcotic. It can knock you on your ass. And despite it not being a narcotic, it is perfectly addictive in the hands of someone with an addictive personality and there is large potential for misuse and abuse. You can still OD on it. Whoever prescribed this to her is an idiot. If she's having trouble sleeping, maybe she can get someone to shoot her full of Propofol.

trazadone was what my doctor prescribed for me for postpartum depression it's an antidepressant. it can cause drowsiness but that's not the intent, so i'm not sure why she's claiming its for sleep, unless of course, as in the case apparently with so many of these people, they take so much crap they have no idea anymore what every thing's for….

I was given Trazadone for postpartum depression. It made me feel 100% worse so I stoped taking them. Definately something you dont wanna be taking and drinking!

Trazadone is an antidepressant sometimes prescribed for it's sedation effects.
Here's the deal on trazodone, since none of you are describing it correctly. It was created as an anti-depressant, that's true. But you had to take it in such high doses - the therapeutic dose starts at around 200-300 mg - that people couldn't really tolerate it because of the sleepy side effect. So it's now used mainly as a sleeping aid in conjunction with other anti-depressants. I've been on it for six years, and my dose has not increased. It's not addictive. I think it may seem like it is if your -ahem- other habits become increasingly unhealthy - you will obviously need more of it to fall asleep.
I'm actually a drug counselor. They do give trazadone for people with sleeping problems and some people do have some side effects…and it is non-narcotic. I don't know why she is carrying it around with her though. In my experience, my clients tend to carry around their medications as well…even the ones they take at night.

I take trazadone as a sleep aid. its a tiny dosage perscribed my my doctor too. comes in a tiny bottle like hers too. you cant get messed up. you just fall asleep.

I was prescribed Trazodone by my psychiatrist for helping me get to sleep when I was diagnosed with depression. While it did help me get to sleep quickly, I found its effects a little overwhelming, and felt out of it, so I stopped taking it.
I don't know why she would take carrying it around with her, unless she has different sleeping locations.
Re: Talandria – Sorry but I was prescribed Trazodone because I couldn't sleep not because I'm bipolar or had any other symptoms so just because you got it for another reason doesn't mean someone got it for the same reason as you.
Also how does Trazodone get anyone fucked up??? It didn't help me sleep at all. So it sits on my counter if anyone wants it LOL

If you do enough cocaine, you will present the same symptoms as depression and even schitzophrenia. Ive seen it happen to at least 3 of my friends. Taking Trazodone isnt going to help her. The damage is done. Poor girl.

Re: pooopy – Just because something is non-narcotic does NOT automatically mean it is not addictive. Narcotics are just a class of opiate pain relievers, it has nothing to do with addictiveness. And for those who don't think Trazadone can mess you up, then you obviously never took more than your prescribed dose (smart) or mixed other drugs or alcohol with it. Trazadone is an easily abused drug.

Actually, Trazadone is an old-school anti-depressant drug now more commonly used as a sleep aid for those on other forms of anti-depressant drugs. It gives you some pretty crazy dreams

i know, from being prescribed trazodone when i was younger, that it controls the cases of the major crazies. its not really prescribed that often for sleeping, but that is one of its uses. who cares if she prescribed it? as long as shes taking her meds lol and they are actually her prescription, its all good.
I take Trazadone and it was prescribed to me for sleep. My psychiatrist said it is an old school anti-depressant and the dosage needed to make it an effective anti-depressant was so high, one of the side effects was drowsiness- hence it helps with sleep, so now that is what its mostly prescribed for. I have been taking it for a year and it helps greatly. As far as Lindsay keeping it in her purse, I keep my anti-depressants and anti-anxiety pills in my purse so I remember to take them once a day. If I had the luxury to travel as much as Lindsay, I'd have Trazadone in my purse too. I'm not bipolar so this doesn't mean she is. I'm glad she is obviously getting the psychiatric help she needs.

Love all the people taking Trazadone who say it's not narcotic and not addictive. Try to get off it and see how addictive it is. Done that, been there… it's addictive. If you're a drug or alcohol addict you just can't take this type of stuff safely, end of story. Hope she finds a doc who can help instead of just writing scripts.

Trazadone cannot fuck u up. I've been on it for 15 1/2 years. When he prescribed it my doctor described it as a mild antidepressant and sleeping agent that works well with my other anti-depressant. Wil agree, though, that when I skip two doses in a row I am very rattled the next day.
I was prescribed Trazadone once. It knocks you out and if you drink or smoke with, you get MESSED UP! Not something you woulds bring out with you for a party. Unless it's a Lindsey Lohan party

I take trazadone for sleep and I would say she has it with her in case she doesn't sleep at home or something- not something anyone would use recreationally since it doesn't cause any fun drugged up feelings, it just makes you sleep very very soundly.
MG73- first of all, most any prescription or OTC drug can kill you if you take enough, genius. 2nd, it is the only drug used as a sleep aid that was actually found to be non- habit forming. Whoever prescribed it to her was probably avoiding traditional sleep aids like ambien that are habit forming.
All the people leaving comments here are being very obtuse. This medication has multiple uses- originally for depression/bipolar, but now it is more commonly used as a sleep aid. Don't assume that the reason you take a medication is necessarily the reason someone else does.
Some people carry their prescribed meds with them at all times. You never know where you might end up and need that sleeping pill. lol

I take Trazodone now and then when I can't sleep. It really depends on how much you are prescribed. It can be taken for insomnia and anxiety but I found it very mild. Also it tends to leave your system within 3-4 hours unlike other prescription sleep meds. It is considered non-addictive.
