A Star Is Born Remake?
This just sounds terrible! We hate when they start messing with the classics!
Rumor has it that Beyonce and Russell Crowe are up for the lead roles in a Warner Brothers remake of the Barbra Streisand classic A Star Is Born.
Beyonce is no Barbra (or Judy!) and Russell is no Kris Kristofferson, BUT we do appreciate that the pair of them would make for one of the most prominent on-screen interracial relationships since Whitney Houston and Kevin Kostner in The Bodyguard.
We like the diversity, but we don't know if we're on board with the remake.
No formal offers have been discussed yet, but Beyonce's been interested in this part for awhile and the studio is said to be very keen on Russell Crowe for the part.
Do U think this is a good idea?

Not a fan of pop stars being thrown onto the silver screen just because they are popular singers. When I go to a movie, it's to escape, not buy into the brand. Hire a serious actress who has studied the art of acting and I will shell up the cash to see the movie.

Uh yeah. The Streisand version is the classic? Her version was the second remake of "A Star is Born." The original was in 1937 and starred Janet Gaynor and Frederic March. The first remake was in 1954 and starred Judy Garland and James Mason. Whatever the case, pretty sure that Beyonce and Russell Crowe don't belong in that company.

Its been done three times, each time starring a major actress who redefined the part. Beyonce is this generation's Judy and Barbra (I saw them each in concert twice) and she has all the chops she needs to make this part her own just as the three previous actresses did. THEN came a sorta re-make called The Rose that was a mash-up of Janice Joplin's story and ASIB (thanks, Bette Midler and Kris Kristofferson), and now we have this abomination to look forward to? Ewwww. Beyonce looks great, and it is definitely time for a diva re-make of the film, but one prob? Beyo can't quite get those acting chops movin' like she can her amazing voice and dancing. And Russell Crowe? Just. No. Way.
I am not a fan of Beyonce's music, but she has an amazing voice. It may not be Barbara, but it is far better than Judy's. Judy is an entertainer. She has a terrible voice.
This would be the 3rd remake of " A Star Is Born". The first and original starred Janet Gaynor, the first remake one starred Judy Garland and the second one starred Barbra Streisand. The original A Star Is Born" has been remade before, around the same time the Barbara "Streisand remake came-out, although never acknowledged as a remake of A Star Is Born…the film was called, "New York, New York"…starring Liza Minnelli and Robert DeNiro.

A Star Is Born worked back in 1937 (Janet Gaynor) and in 1954 (Judy Garland) and even in 1976 (Barbra Streisand) before women were as liberated and independent than now. The premise is the aging male falling star married to the female rising star and
Why do you assume that any old film that is up for a remake is a CLASSIC? What is classic about "A star is born"? The original film will not be a hit today, because it comes across as quite old fashioned.

Like I said before, Beyonce, you risk getting over exposure. You are not an icon in anyway shape or form. This is what happened to Jennifer Lopez. Having loved the two previous films of this story, I think they will have a huge loser on their hands if they cast it with these two performers, both of whom I admire. To call this potential casting "uninspired" is an understatement. Beyonce was awful on the Grammy's. How about Pink and Ewan McGregor?
