What does he know about music??? LOL you cant be serous. He only spent most of his life on KROCK Radio and would have a live performance in his studio everyday. On top of that interviewing thousands of musicians. Yes he definitly has what it takes to bring American Idol to the next level. This is the best news ever!!!! I will keep my fingers crossed. Stern can know a lot about music, but he has to be able to sing in tune and have an ear because he has to be able to tell if someone is singing on or off key.

Don't do it Howard.. it's not your thing… it would be a step down from what you do now and you have enough money to do whatever you want to. Although Howard can be as blunt and nasty as Simon — i think he's evolved beyond the need to be contrary pain in the ass just to get attention which is why i think he was that way in the past, and i think Howard has more interesting and original things to involving his talent as an interviewer for example. Not to mention the fact that he is not at all a music guy.. it's really so silly to have non-music people judging people's musical abilities. Howard would be telling everyone that if they aren't young and hot looking they might as well forget it. I really think he's got better things to do with his time than to travel around the country to spread that message.

If Stern does have that ear, he could absolutely do Idol. Apparently he loves Idol, but he would have to back off a lot and change his approach, because it's about the contestants rather than polarizing around Stern's very sharp self. It's also a whopping pay drop for him, but that said, he might enjoy the hell out of it.
