Bette Midler's Las Vegas show, The Showgirl Must Go On, ended on Sunday and no one really cared. She began her run at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in February 2008 and it has since TANKED.

According to Comscore, Midler had 19,000 unsold seats in January!!!!

Yikes! It was her time to go!

      As someone mentioned, there is a freaking RECESSION going on!

      With 12% unemployment in California alone, do you really think people have money to be spending on shows in Vegas.

      Bette Midler is a true entertainment who does well in singing (no lip), acting, comedy and more. Something most "celebrities" of today do not have.

      Bette is a national treasure and someone who is a real talent vs. SKANKS like Britney Spears who is all fake.

      I'm sorry that happened I really wanted to see her, but this economy has really hurt my flexible spending. She was awesome in LA, 4 or 5 years ago. She's not a Celine (thank God) or a Cher (thank God), but she's her own style.

      the colosseum seats 4200, so, she had, if there were 7 shows a week, an 80% capacity. that wasn't too bad. that is like almost 900,000 seats sold. yes, mario, some of us know, you can manipulate facts to make them look really bad, when in fact, it is not that bad. profits, stays in vegas, ac are way down. bad what do you expect when unemployment is getting higher and higher. at 10%, it kind of cuts down on the amt of people who can go there.

One of the most long standing classics of hers. She was the last guest on Carson singing One More For the Road. Handpicked by Johnny himself. Bette singing Rosemary Clooney went gold. Just because she doesn't run around in midriffs and piercing everything doesn't mean she isn't relevant or famous. Her last actual tour sold out every date, on two continents.

      For the past year, practically every show in Vegas has had some sort of financial problem or other. Between the economy, politicos shaking their fingers at Vegas like its the root of all financial evil, and the cost of maintaining big revues - the timing just stunk. The show itself was great.

Considering the state of the economy for the past two years and the fact that Las Vegas is doing poorly in general and January is the all-around worst month of the year, I would say she did fine.       Okay, so I check this site fairly randomly and usually love what I read. Tonight, not so thrilled. I am SO SICK of Perez being on someone's side one minute and then knocking them the next minute. Bette is a DIVA. There are few like her. Yes, Celine sold massive tickets and she is much younger than Bette and who knows if she will be able to do what Bette does when she is Bette's age. I saw the show four times, including closing night and it was amazing. Bette is a truly DIVINE. She performed in Vegas at a time when everyone was struggling and never lost site of what her show was about. She NEVER cancelled a single show and treated each performance with respect and admiration for her audience and her craft. Please, stop hating on everyone and celebrate what they do instead of what YOU FEEL they did not. The Showgirl went on and it was FABULOUS. Thank you.

Whether Las Vegas got her isn't what is important or how many where there for the last show; it's how many people she touched over the years that will always have the fond memories of her, and if they didn't see the shows that she performed she gave them a message of love through her life and the movies that she made. I would worry more about how many people absolutely hate you now and wish your blog would just fade away; and how many business sponsors have you lost and have you ever thought about the people that see through the crap that is posted on your blog that everyone knows that you don't write your crappy blog and your sister and whomever fills in for her even sucks worse. The way you treat your Mom as a maid is shameful. When you fade away no one will have even remembered your name or what it was you did.
