We're Gonna Call It The iSnack

So with all the things going on in the world today, you know what topic was getting the most buzz on Capitol Hill Wednesday morning?
Vending machines.
The National Automated Merchandising Association, which we had no idea even existed, showed off its latest gadget that is suppose to revitalize the vending machine industry, while also working to improve the snacking habits of Americans.
They are calling it a Diji-Touch (we like our name better) and it is an interactive touch-screen machine that provides digital images of food along with nutritional content. After selecting an item on the touch screen, the virtual junk food enlarges, spins around, and shows the buyer how many calories are in the package of Yodels before buying them.
The snacking companies getting involved in the project think the idea is "fun" and "playful," but would also create jobs and more revenue for their industry.
It's cool looking, but seems pretty extravagant to us.
Do U think some of your tax dollars should go to getting this shiz put in your office? Or are you happier eating your Cheetos in oblivious bliss?

This actually looks great! Its the advent child of touch! I hope to see them all over teh place. Like in Japan. Trickle them everywhere!
I'm not quite sure how tax dollars are going to go toward paying for this. I would assume that vending machines fall under the same category as other items an establishment buys for it's consumers.
how about they just put a sticker on the side of the vending machine with the calorie counts of the items inside the machine? Problem solved……
iSnack? You know this isn't an Apple product right?
How does my tax dollar pay for this? Automated Merchandising is private enterprise. You're dumb, Perez, but you have hired uneducated, uncultured, hissified idiots to write for you. The only reason I hang around is to watch you go down in flames. You will. Oh.yes.you.will.
I've seen a soda machine version of this in a mall. It's really cool, but I dont think it tells you about calories. I'll have to check it out the next time I'm there.
You know there will be a-holes that will take up to 10 mins to pick something.
that is neat
Pretty sure NONE of my tax dollars will go to pay for this. It's a private company and has nothing to do with the federal gov't. Oh Perez, as much as I hate you, I wish you'd go back to writing for your own site.
I like iSnack, even though apple doesn't own it lol. Tax payers have to pay for vending machines now? Or are you just wrong? Anyway its a good idea if you want the nutritional content and if it won't get stuck. Lol I agree with Quemical.
they are trying to be more futuristic! its kind of dumb…a vending machine is a vending machine!
also if you are going to get cheetos, than what does the nutritional content even matter?
In China they have vending machines for EVERYTHING ! We are so far off in the times you just dont know ! LOL !
Hahahahaa, iSnack. How many Australians here remember the iSnack 2.0? That was a bust.
I'm gettin one of those! That looks cool
No, this is good. Asia has incredible options for fast but nutritious snacks.
Vegemite?
Tax dollars? Where did you get that Rezzo? It must be fun to just make things up, instead of really doing any research…I guess you don't have the time while screening those young boy banders…. 1st things first, heh Rezzo? Pedo 1st, jackass second and a blogger way down the list… You suck fatso! Hahahahahahahahhahahahahhahaha!~
iSnack be copyrighted to Australia. It's a type of cheesy vegemite
i really really like this!! i never buy things with out reading the nutritional info. even if i am going to buy bad junk food i want the lesser of the evils so to speak. i almost never ever will buy from a vending machine unless i see something in there i know the nutritional content of or its not too fatty. this would be a great invention and i hope to see these all over especially if it means they start stocking healthier stuff. now that would be great. and i would most likely be one of those people who would take 10mins to pick a snack…but only if there was no one waiting behind me cause then that would be rude
Re: bubble gum – iSnack 2.0 = FAIL!
Re: bubble gum – lol i was gonna say…i hope perez isnt trying to be original and rip off the name of a failed vegemite!
bahahaha…now its the 'cheesybite'…its so stupid lol
LOL LOOKS SOOO COOL
BOOOOOOOO what if I want to indulge on something i know is unhealthy without finding out just HOW unhealthy it is??? F that calorie shit….I WANT MY YODELS WITHOUT GUILT!!
Re: jones19 – He means that because Apple is pretty much making everything with a touch screen now-a-days, that this can pass off as an apple product to idiots.
how about putting as much thought and money into providing healthy snacks?
wow…..hahah…just wow…oh how times have changed since the 90s…throwback to the 90s event…in NEW YORK CITY for THE FRESH PRINCE OF NYC www.freshprincenyc2010.com
HOT!!!!! www.freshprincenyc2010.com
I gotta say, I love this idea. My daughter was just diagnosed with diabetes, and I can't say just how conscious I became of everything she eats. Being able to see what's in everything will make choosing a snack so much easier.
So their going to pay $1million+ for a machine that dispenses $1 snacks … brilliant use of money that is. The government doing what they do best, wasting.
iSnack! YES!
