Unlike most Super Bowl performers of the National Anthem, Carrie decided to sing it live and not lipsynch to a pre-recorded version. So we do give her mad props for that!

PEREZ! not rough at all. she sang from her heart. It may have been less than perfect, but girl worked it especially on those high notes like crazy goooood.

I've never intentionally listen to The Who … but when that song came on, I was like whoa they were actually good! And the first thing was OMG IT'S THAT CSI SONG!!!
.. but I did think that maybe someone like Lady Gaga would've suited better to us younger audience 
anyways I will never forget Beyonce's anthem… i thought she was amazing.. and Carrie's pretty good too because apparently any American Idol contestant who came really far up usually do well live!!! 
(and i see how at the end she kinda was off key and flat at times) BUT WHO WOULDN'T be especially all that pressure

Halftime performances have been boring since that whole Justin Timberlake/Janet Jackson situation. My favorite was the 2001 halftime show with NSYNC, Britney Spears, Aerosmith and others.
Rock and roll used to be about rebellion, now its so mainstream - it's music for corporations, super bowls, advertising, conservatives, and republicans. Time for a revolution in music to get back the fun it once was.

Maybe her emotions got her at the end. I have seen many people start to cry a bit when singing that song since it has so much meaning. Heck, your vid even shows one of the players wiping his tears. I give her props!
I thought she did great!! Queen Latifa's performance was hard to watch!
I thought she was good - not only did she have the guts to do it live - unlike most - she pretty much kept to the melody without tinkering with it all the way through to cover up the hard parts.

When you sing live and no acapella in a stadium, the accoustics are going to be off, the crowd is going to be picked up in the mic, and yet Carrie still sang her ass off and proved she is one of the best vocalist around. Noticed I used vocalist perez that's cuz she can sing.

If you can't appreciate the legendary bands who came before, and why The Who are WHO they are, then you certainly shouldn't be allowed to judge Idol.
As for relevance, Mario, you have about another 45 years to try to get to anywhere near the relevance The Who has achieved. They started playing in 1962. That's 48 years together. Just because you don't understand their brilliance doesn't mean they aren't brilliant.
