As we mentioned earlier, estimates predicted that last night's Super Bowl XLIV brought in some huge ratings.

And the estimates were right.

As of today, the Nielsen Co. has already estimated that over 106.5 million viewers tuned in to watch the Saints vs. the Colts.

This now officially marks Super Bowl XLIV as the most-watched television program in history, even beating out the 1983 M*A*S*H finale.

In comparison, last year's Super Bowl brought in 98.7 million viewers.

And with the new numbers as high as they are, we can only imagine how much they'll charge for those crazy commercials next year.

That's great but actually MJ has the most watched Super Bowl performance with 135 million tuning in in half-time in 1993. R.I.P KING MJ!!

I think you mean the most watched in the US. The World Cup finals bring in nearly 1 billion viewers.

In wonder what the other 98,5% of the world population was watching.

Dude, 'Most Watched Show of All Time' only in the US. The World Cup averages triple amount of viewers per game, not to mention the final that add up to a billion or more (depending on time zones).

50% probably watched just for the commercials. Too bad they weren't very good this year.

Others have pointed it out, Mario - this is the most watched show in the US of all time. It's nowhere close to being the most watched show in history. This weekend, the Chinese lunar new year special (5 hour variety show) will pull in a television audience of about 800 million. In fact, when Wang Zhi Zhi played his first NBA game a few years ago, the television audience in China was over 300 million. World Cup soccer finals have often drawn over 1 billion viewers.

As usual you have it wrong. Even the champions league final had a bigger audience. Not to mention the world cup. You really should be more careful in how you report.

feel-good new orleans story+a possible coronation as this generation's best qb for manning+a massive snowstorm=ratings gold!
