MTV Wants Snooki All To Itself!!
Wow. It must be pretty bad if even the network is saying enough is enough. It's not like they're ones to turn down publicity.
The head honchos at MTV are reportedly pulling the plug on the cast of Jersey Shore and all of the club appearances they've been making because they're afraid of overexposure!

A source claims:
"MTV has told the 'Jersey Shore' crew they can only do two personal appearances a week, and that all of their gigs have to be approved by producers. They've threatened the cast that they will be fined if they flout the rules — but some don't care and are blatantly going ahead to earn as much cash as they possibly can."
Another source says:
"We have to put in controls to protect the brand. We don't want them out all over the map at every single bar in the country. They have to get permission from MTV prior to doing a personal appearance — we don't want one of these kids appearing in a topless bar. Pauly D's fan base is about 85 percent women between 12 and 21, we have to protect that."
Oh, goodness, yes. You don't want to ruin the cast's squeaky clean image!
Michael Schweiger, who manages the cast with the exception of our beloved Snookerdoodle, says:
"We're incredibly busy. It's a hell of a ride right now. This is something like America hasn't seen before as far as reality TV goes. Rather than let it run like a train out of control, there has to be some rules put in place."
We don't think there's much about the show that would fit the term 'in control,' so we think they just want to keep the cast under their lock and key so they don't bring their business elsewhere! This is not going to end well.

Um considering Snookie did cartwheels with no panties on the show I'd already assume they have been over exposed…..can't get much worse than that.
It really depends on the circumstances surroudning the show. If the idea was pitched to these kids and it was completely MTV'S doing then sure I can understand they don't want these kids going elsewhere. But… if these kids are just being themselves and going out and being filmed and it really is ”REALITY” — then what is stopping them from doing other things!??! They shouldn't be ”controlled” if they are just ”living their lives” ?! Or is Jersey Shore scripted and pitched to THEM by MTV?

Kinda when TLC put the kibbosh on Jon Gosselin for his appearances. (You know, that never made any sense to me. I am in no way a Gosselin fan, but how can you lock down someone who is no longer on a show?)

They really shouldn't be allowed to make appearances. You can't film a reality show with the stars making money appearing everywhere else. It's ridiculous. They would be too busy making money off of being famous to be part of the show.
This business of somehow being able to write in new contract clauses after the fact is indeed intriguing, but if they haven't signed up for the new season, then this can happen. Controlled exposure exercising intelligence is never a mistake, but the urge to cash in, and fast, seems to be the meteoric way these days, with a quick burnout and then the fatal sputter; which nobody notices, of course, because the hungry media has already glommed on to the next thing in the hyenish scrap for ratings to keep themselves alive.

I'm with WildOrchid…. and that show "jumped the shark" the minute the appeared on the Today Show as well….these things come and go…it happened with "The Real World" / Road Rules (wicked stupid show) and it will happen with this cast of charecters. Can't blame them for wanting to make some loot…I admittedly got hooked on the show when she got punched in the face…not that I condone "a man" (which that guy was surely not) hitting a woman (which is questionable for her) by any means…but hey it's like gum…the flavor is gone…and you shove another piece in to make it last…but eventually your gonna spit out the wad…know what I'm sayin?
