2010 Sucks For Toyota

The car company is sinking fast.
Toyota has just announced another recall for their Prius and other hybrid model cars worldwide. Now, the company is receiving complaints about the brakes in these vehicles, just adding to the list of embarrassing safety lapses found in their latest models.
Over 437,000 Prius and other hybrid vehicles are being recalled to investigate the recent problem, making the grand total of cars sent back to the Toyota Motor Corp. 8.5 million, starting with the cars sent back for malfunctioning floor mats to this newest issue.
Complaints started coming in to the company that the brakes on the 2010 Prius had a delay when pressed in cold weather conditions and some bumpy roads. Though the delay isn't considered a brake failure, the company is still recalling the vehicles to adjust the brakes with new software. The company tries to smooth over the issue by saying it shouldn't take longer than 40 minutes for the antilock brakes to be updated.
Jeez, not the best way to start off the year, huh?
Makes us wonder if the guys over at Toyota are asking themselves, "What else could go wrong?"
At this point, just about anything!

And everyone thought that Tylenol would sink after what happened to them company too, dimwit. Toyota is as likely to sink as you're likely to succeed with your dumbass boy band. Get a clue.

Toyota will be just fine! They're actually handling this whole things really well. They're admitting they made a mistake with their brakes and are doing their best to fix it as quickly as possible. They are still TEN TIMES better than any of the American companies and I have no doubt they'll recover pretty quickly.
Toyota's are high quality cars that last an incredibly long time. I don't have a car, but when I do buy one I wouldn't even consider buying a car that wasn't a Toyota.
yes, their stock is down, but, it all depends on HOW THE REPAIRS WORK AND HOW TIMELY THEY GET THEM DONE. if everything works, and they kept their liabilites done to a minimum and do not balk at paying out, they could come out smelling sweet. not this week, not next week. but maybe at the end of the summer, end of the year. NOW, gm, just goes limping along… and we, the own it, cause the gov't bought them. Now who would ever thought that the gov't would have made a bad choice in buying Gm?
Lots of car companies have recalls, Perez. I'd rather have them change and update their advisories and recalls as they go instead of covering it up until they can make up the right spin on the story.
"They are still TEN TIMES better than any of the American companies and I have no doubt they'll recover pretty quickly. "
No. That may have been true 10 years ago, but not today. Ford makes cars that are just as good as Toyotas in this day and age.
Ford never got any gov handouts, and don't have a ton of recalls from their deathmobiles that Toyota calls cars.
This is going to be a HUGE black eye for Toyota. And it wont just go away.
People will, from now on, think twice about buying a Toyota.
And rightfully so.
"And everyone thought that Tylenol would sink after what happened to them company too, dimwit."
Don't call others dimwits when you yourself made such a dimwitted comparison.
BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA: It's such a coincidence that Toyota is having problems, now that I'm President of GM, oops, I mean President of the Americas. See, I told you people I was ready to be boss and be bossy… IT'S THE CHICAGO WAY. Yup, I welcome competition.
From reading the above posts, Toyota's PR team must be in FULL force on the net today. Either that, or we have a few Toyota fanboys, or employees in our midst.
Toyota isn't going anywhere. It's the ONLY vehicle I have ever owned since '89. Gas/Oil/Tires. That's it. NO problems what-so-ever from the Celica to the Camry to the 4Runner (all of mine were imported). It's sad, I have to say, that these are the vehicles that are being made in American plants. When Toyota was importing this cars from Japan (in which every single car has the signature–somewhere in the car– of the person responsible for each section during manufacturing), we never heard of these problems. Come on America!! We can do better than this! Take PRIDE in what you do! No shortcuts!! Shortcuts mean tragedies!

nice cut and past perez, already read this on yahoo.
Gotta ask the question - isn't it a little suspicious that all this is happening to a company who make the best cars in the world while the U.S. car industry is in the doldrums? Cough said the engineer as he took the brown envelope!
Re: KevinK – did you know Ford bought their technology for their hybrids from Toyota? aka the Escape
Toyota will be fine, but I think it is the perfect time to say, Fords will be the number 1! It's going to be nice to show that some people still care about keeping the profits in the united states.
Re: KevinK – My comparison was relevant, ass-munch. We get that you hate Toyota. I don't drive one; I've never driven one. But Toyota will recover from this the way Tylenol recovered from their much-publicized tampering. Go back to your job on the assembly line, dimwit.
Shoulda got a Honda.
I wonder how long the Big Three has been scrutinizing Toyota to find a flaw that can be exploited like this?
Remember the exploding gas tank trucks, faulty seat belts, etc etc?
People putting rubber mats on top of the removable carpet mats and non-spec mats caused a problem for accellerator pedals.
Toyota still rocks
Re: luvstotango – WHAT?? Just shut up because you sound stupid. OMG Americans, the dumb ones make us all look stupid.
Whatever!! Ford and GM have been making garbage vehicles for the last 10 years with more recalls than anyone could remember, but when they have a recall, it is on the back page of a newspaper, not headlining for weeks at a time. Funny how the American government bailed out the other car manufacturers and so they now think they can point fingers at Toyota. I would still buy a Toyota over an "American made" car anyday!!
Re: bonga chik – I feel bad for you. The American government won't bail out Toyota because they are not an American business. Your one of those reasons that GM and Chrysler are doing bad. Care more about making a point than keeping profits in America and saving some jobs.
This is probably going to be bigger than Ford/Firestone, but I don't expect Toyota to go anywhere. The problem is, it isn't the floor mat. My family is currently involved in a lawsuit with Toyota and my mother is due to testify before Congress soon. It is actually the accelerator itself and the computer that reads it. There are a number of cars that have the problem, however Toyota will be hit with HUGE damages because they have neglected to recall all the cars that have the problem. JUST WAIT. There WILL be more recalls.
I quess you could say it is bad karma. They are shutting down the Fremont NUMNI plant and putting out about 5000 employee's and effecting the jobs of about 20,000 other jobs. The cars that were made at Fremont are not being recalled
Wow, just think "some" car companies actually calculate which is more expensive, people dying and lawer fees verses the cost of recalling.
I have always driven a Toyota and mine is built in Canada where I live. I hardly doubt something like this is going to hurt Toyota in the long run, unless more things go wrong.
u dumbfuck perez every company has recalls its a fact
i have a toyota corolla 2010 took 2 hrs they fixed my accelerator and changed my floor mat
for free
so stfu
toyta > all
I would rather drive a defective Toyota with a possible stuck gas pedal then drive a ford any day of the week. Ford has so many issues they don't even bother doing recalls because it would just be an ongoing process….continuously fixing and fixing and fixing…. Toyota has top notch customer service and excellent vehicles…
But ofcourse Perez you are oblivious to the fact that every car maker has had some sort of recall… and unlike a lot of American companies, Toyota is not trying to hide the defects….. If you haven't noticed they don't televise issues with american made vehicles… or they do Rarely… anyways.. your an idiot.
TOYOTA sucks ASS… I love how all these nobodies on here are defendin their TOYotas! ALL Toyota has is it's supposed "quality" - they lack just about everything else. It's like Gucci selling fake fur when they market the real stuff, Toyota sucks
Re: MEMEME4 – If they made a decent vehicle, I would re-consider buying other vehicles…b ut do you know that a lot of toyotas are made in america??????
some of you are so ignorant. like jigsaw said, ford actually bought technology from toyota because after numerous attempts they couldn't figure out how to make a hybrid on their own. besides, does this not make you think that after this issue has come to light that they're brakes and accelerators will be IMPECCABLE from this point forward?
and the floormats are the responsibility of the DEALER to install. and even there, who's to say that you didn't buy some new mats at a different store?
i drive a toyota yaris and it is my absolute favourite car. amazing on gas and drives really well.
and the toyota plant that closed was a JOINT VENTURE with gm. toyota plants in canada haven't even done layoffs despite the setbacks. ever.
That's one ugly car..
In 3-4 months time, when Toyota has it's biggest sale in history on, I am going to buy, if I can afford it then, the first new car I have ever owned. Toyota all the way!!!
Who cares about a hybrid car??? Bring in the big blocks.
Greetz from Switzerland
(I will always prefer a german or american car)
thats why i stick to ford
My dad works for the auto industry as a supplier who makes accelerator and break pedals and toyota had been negotiating with one of the suppliers to take the fall for this. these deaths could have been prevented if toyota had a redundency in the computer system that would automatically lower the rpms when the the brakes are pressed. Other automotive manufacturers have this like chrysler and ford but Toyota ignored this simple safety feature and they knew they were ignoring it creating what was a simple problem into a deadly problem.
Re: caalr –
probably because they're faulty parts
Re: Beach Bum – I'm with you, Beach Bum. Buy German. So einfach ist das.
I could never stand these no personality, boring crap boxes. Mainly dumb asians drive them in my area, they love there corollas.
