Kerrigan Family Furious That Father's Death Was Ruled Homicide!!
Something strange is going on here!
Only hours after the Medical Examiner ruled the death of Dan Kerrigan, ice-skater Nancy's father, a homicide, the family's lawyer has released a not-so-complimentary statement.
"The Kerrigan family is extremely disappointed that the medical examiner would release a cause of death without having all of the relevant facts. We believe this finding to be premature and inaccurate. The Kerrigan family does not blame anyone for the unfortunate death of Dan Kerrigan, who had a pre-existing heart condition."
Kerrigan's brother, Mark, has admitted to strangling his father during an altercation immediately prior to his passing. Mark is also reportedly a victim of post-traumatic stress disorder after his time in the Army and has a history of violent outbursts.
We understand that this must be an extremely difficult time, but we're not entirely sure why such a fuss is being made. It seems as though it's very clear what happened, whether the death was intentional or not, Mark's actions caused Dan to pass away.
What do U think?? Was the Medical Examiner wrong to release the statement??

The Medical Examiner has also ruled it homicide when you choked your dick to death after your boy band search last weekend.

the doctor was just doing his job. it's not his fault that his findings were not what the kerrigan family wanted to hear. i feel bad for them and this whole thing is complicated by the fact that they probably love their son/brother… but lashing out at the medical examiner's office really does make them look petty, childish and stupid. it's like daniel schuler going on and on and on that his wife wasn't drunk when she crashed and killed all those people. the coroner knows what he/she is doing and doesn't come to conclusions in order to make life easier or harder for those who remain behind. you can't argue with science. i think they owe a big apology to the coroner's office.
the medical examiner just does the facts, they do not go on sloppy family history or facts…. NOW, if they want to support their brother/son and try to get it to involuntary manslaughter, fine. as it was in an ACCIDENT. But, they are in denial, right now. If stupid, as in her brother didn't do the choking thing, whether drunk, or as a joke, or whatever, it caused his father's heart attack. he is now dead. IF STUPID (amazing,I am not refering to perez this time) had not done the choking action, in all likelihood Mr Kerrigan would still be alive.

well i do think that the fighting with his father and the strangling of his father most definitely helped lead to his father's death…the poor man was probably scared to death! but i feel for the whole family, how horrible it must be to loss a loved one at the hands of a loved one!….and i can only imagine how horrible the son feels for having to think that he helped lead to his father's death….my prayers are with them all…
i understand they want to put this behind them and not have the additional pain of watching their son/brother go to trail..but he beat an old man in a drunken rage and fructured his larynx by strangling him. it was a CRIME no matter how the family feels about it…the law is the law.
at least if he goes to court maybe it'll sink in that he needs serious help for the various issues he has.
i feel bad for Nancy and her mother, but they need to accept that their fucked up relative did something terribly wrong and needs to face the music, even if they'd prefer for it to just go away.
in discussing this with law enforcement they will tell you that to cause a cartilage fracture to the larynx area takes a tremendous amount of pressure, and does not happen so easily like in the movies - this was not an accident, he had to hold on for awhile while exerting himself quite a bit. i understand the family would like to protect him and maybe there are extenuating circumstances (post traumatic stress) but they're fooling themselves thinking he's harmless.
The family is doing what so many naturally do…. They refuse to believe that a family member is a killer. It's called enabling. My husband suffered from PTSD when he came home from Iraq too, but we got him the help and counseling he needed. Kerrigan’s family should not be trying to protect him from the consequences of his actions, but force him to deal with them and his problems. A loving family makes people get the help the need, NOT the help they want.

The whole situation is sad and my heart goes out to the family. It doesn't sound as if the son set out to kill his father, although since I wasn't there I can only speculate. If the father was really angry too that could have precipitated a heart attack. Trying to excuse the violence that actually damaged the larynx though is pretty hard to excuse away and I think the family needs to acknowledge that no matter what his intention the man died prompted by the attack. Very tragic.
it does seem early to consider it homicide. that was a very quick result. the arguement over whether it was the heart attack that was the ultimate killer without the neck bones injury. the guy will probably be found to be out of his mind at the time anyway - he's an ex soldier isnt he? with post traumatic stress?

MEs do an exam, then establish cause of death. Just ’cause it's not what you wanted to hear, doesn't mean it's "inaccurate." The ME determined that the death resulted from the actions of another. It's up to the courts to decide whether the causing of the death was prosecutable, not the ME.

the medical forensics found strangulation marks on the fathers neck. there had to be considerable pressure for that to happen. having a heart condition doesnt mean anything. he tried to strangle the man and cut off his breathing of course the heart reacts. if there were no marks on the mans neck this idiot son wouldnt have been charged with murder. this family has got their priorities screwed up. why the hell would you defend the asshole who killed you husband and father? this is a huge slap in the face of the dead man who took care of his family for years and sacrificed for that daughter to be able to get to the position of the great skater she was. now you stand up for the mans killer.?? i dont get it

The son made a conscious choice to be a victim in his own life - to cry 'boo hoo - I have a famous sister and I'm not getting enough attention.' The case of another sibling wanting to make excuses for their behavior. I understand the family wanting to defend him because they feel as if they failed him. He failed himself. It's not their fault.
This family is grieving the passing of a loved one and the out come of another. In a sence they have loss two family members. They could'nt save the father so obviously they are going to try and save the brother. Who really knows if this man with a heart condition would have lived or died that day rather his son was there or not we will never know for sure. This is merely a circumstancial evidence case and may or may not hold up in court. Yes it can and probably will go to trial but making it stick will be another issue. The DA has their work cut out for them knowing the man had heart related problems to begin with. Alot of medical evidence about the father will be the biggest part of their defence and the knowledge that the son has a history with mental issues. This makes for an interesting case if it goes to trial. His family will be character witness's on behalf of the son - that will hurt the DA.
