John Mayer has finally risen from his stoney-coma and been bombarded with today's backlash of his Playboy interview!
Mayer has received an outrageous amount of flack (and rightfully so!) for using the N-word in his recent interview, more specifically:
Someone asked me the other day, “What does it feel like now to have a hood pass?” And by the way, it’s sort of a contradiction in terms, because if you really had a hood pass, you could call it a n****r pass. Why are you pulling a punch and calling it a hood pass if you really have a hood pass? But I said, “I can’t really have a hood pass. I’ve never walked into a restaurant, asked for a table and been told, ‘We’re full.’"

So John has taken to his official Twitter to try and calm the storm:

It's ok to use it, but then it is not ok to use it. It really depends on the intent of the person. That is what this is all about, the intent. John Mayer is obviously a very intelligent person and I find it unlikely he would be careless enough to show blatent ,unfair, racial intent. But these days you can never be too safe, so it is probably best not to use the N word at all.

No apology was necessary for what he said as it wasn't racist. He didn't use the word in a racist context. Interestingly, what he was apologizing for was using the word, not because it was racist, but because he should have realized that there are a lot of people out there who are just too emotional or simply not smart enough to understand what he was saying. That would certainly seem to apply. Especially in regards to Perez as he is clearly too emotional AND too stupid.
