The Air Force Pulls Alleged White Stripes Ad!

When The White Stripes threatened legal action for what they assumed was an illegal re-recording of their song used in a recruitment commercial for the Air Force, the military did something they're definitely not used to - they backed down!
"The Air Force Reserve commissioned an original piece of music for its one-time, 30-second Super Bowl regional advertisement," said Lt. Col. Leslie Pratt, Air Force Reserve Command director of public affairs. "As soon as we realized there was a question about our ad, we immediately pulled it and have no plan to re-use it. Our goal was only to attract the best and brightest Americans to become Citizen Airmen."
They claims that they hired a contractor, Fast Forward Music, to compose an original score of music.
"We had no intention to use existing music from the White Stripes or any other performer," Pratt continued. "Any similarity to them or other artists was certainly not intentional."
Riiiiiight.
Luck with the recruitment! Ha!

they r still around? lol who knew
My husband and I noticed that while watching the superbowl and we were very surprised. We are huge White Stripes fans and didn't think Jack White would sell his soul to the U.S. warmongers. Right on Jack!
I would be honored if the Air Force used one of my songs in a commercial for recruitment. Mind you, it's those men that allow you the freedom to even comment on this matter, let alone mock them. Grow up.
A person joining the military is joining the military because they want to, not because they used a cool song in their ads.
I think the White Stripes made much too big a deal out of the whole situation by threatening legal action.
Seriously people? If they really wanted to be catchy, they would have ripped off a much better artist! They didn't have any intention of using someone else's music, and do you REALLY think that anyone would have even tried to intentionally rip someone off with a SUPERBOWL AD? Only the most watched commercials in television? Hell no. DaisyHalt, if you don't like the "U.S. warmongers" who are protecting your ass day in and day out, get the F*@K out of the country! Its one of the many freedoms you have you dumb hoe!
Way to be Patriotic…got to love liberals!!!
those people are fighting for your sorry asses perez!
Re: jennys812 – well said Jenny =)
Re: jenchast – well said jenny- and the military pulled it mario, you idiot, because they paid for an ORIGINAL piece. This piece is now in question. If white stripes has a problem now, sue the 'composer'. and mario, if you have such a problem with the military, that you have to make fun of it, go back to your family's motherland. CUBA see what happens when you make fun of the military there.
Not intentional by the Air Force Reserve, but I bet "Fast Forward Music" knew *exactly* what they were doing. There WAS another ad on the Army Reserve site that sounds verrrry similar to a song by The Who but I JUST went to the site now to refresh my memory on which Who song it was and THAT spot has also been pulled from the site. Sure, the "contractor" may be composing "original" scores, but they are most definitely ripping off well-known songs. Seems to me that just by pulling the other ad that I'm talking about, I'm not the only one who figured out the similarities with The Who as well.
Re: buck –
Was that written on your hand? LOL
Re: jennys812 –
How about if they used a photo of your smelly cun*t?
I am so sick of sorry morons like DaisyHalt and Perez. Let's see what you would do without the military fighting for your weak asses. We are not warmongers, fuckface, we are freedom lovers.
I fail to see why this is the Air Force's fault? Go to your homeland perez and mock their military, dare you!!!!!!!! Enough said!!!!!!!
f ws.
Lamo band who has the balls to dis the people protecting them so they can play booring music and feel important! No more down loads from me
White Stripes are a bunch of crybaby drama queens. I'm banning them. Grow up & be proud that the Air Force actually found your song worth using in a commercial for them.
Way to show your respect to your country and the men and women that fight for your freedom. I hope Perez, his dog and the white stripes die in a horrific plane crash.
Fuck you Perez.. if you could fight with a keyboard, I am sure you still would not enroll… you yellow 4 finger typist you. Be thankfull to those who die to protect you… You piece of shit.
Re: Poindexter-X – Oh look. Poindexter is demonstrating what a wad he is. Another micro dick trying to be big and bad with words.
i guess no one read the statement the White Stripes made? They bent over backwards with their support of the military. It is completely possible to support the military and appreciate the military without supporting a war that was brought about through false pretenses. I'd say that NOT supporting that kind of action is more patriotic and more supportive of the actual troops.

no, we are all warmongers - American's have a perverse sense of the definition of the word "freedom" wherein "freedom" is defined as "the American way of life"
-
Our military (Our military - NOT YOU) are fighting to preserve the quality of life we have in the West. That means we need that oil and will do what it takes to get it. Don't get me wrong, I served ten years in the military and fought in Afghanistan twice. I KNOW why I fought. The public should know too. I think many in the West would drop their uninformed anti-war stance if it meant surrendering all of the luxuries that we have become so accustomed to. We EARNED our way of life, our grandparents fought like hell in WWII to gain it. Don't try to sugar coat it by saying we are fighting for such a vague concept as 'freedom'

If they really support the military, then why pull the ad. The ad had to do with the Airforce, not the Iraq or Afghanistan war. The military does more than that.
and DaisyHalt: FUCK YOU
i love the stripes and no one should take what they didn't pay for. THAT is as american as it gets. period.
Re: DaisyHalt – he already did sell his soul! what a bunch of white stripe babies!
"They claims that they hired a contractor"??? Seriously, Perez?! Who does your editing?? My 3rd grader knows better.
BOTH OF THOSE ALBINOS SHOULD GET SENT TO THE WARFRONT, AND STAND ON FRONT OF OUR BRAVE MEN AND WOMEN, WHO PROTECT OUR NATION! WE'LL SEE WHO'S BITCHIN' THEN. THEIR MUSIC SUCKS ANYWAY!
the band has a right to be angry, their song was clearly stolen. i hope they win in those legal battles. whoever was in charge of this commercial should have made sure it didn't violate anything. but they didnt. and there's no excuse for plagiarism.
And the band supports the troops, but not the war. I feel the same way.. I'm not really sure why we're still in a war and all that. Its not really clear.
Why would the Air Force even consider using the noise of these two talentless drug addicts? The Air Force is far classier than these two pieces of human garbage!
For how much shit the white stripes talk about america, they deserve it. aww, what, is propaganda being thrown right back into your face?
you should join the air force, maybe you'd get some action then you fat VIRGIN.
You are really ignorant and should not open your mouth PEErez about stuff you don't really know…..stop. Just stop…….ur lame tirades are just that OLD AND LAME.
how about an apology and a fucking check? they did run the ad on tv after all. fucking warmongering pigs.
Seriously. Major Generals in the Air Force stay up late at night planning to steal forgettable music from forgotten people. See there is this thing called "copyright" that's in the US Constitution. So creators (if you want to call White Stripes "creators") have a constitutional right to say "somebody stole our stuff." The defendant (in this case the USAF) would have the right to implead whoever it was that sold them White Stripes' stuff and let them take the fall. The best thing the USAF could do is what they did–say "hey we didn't mean to be stealing things and we didn't intend that so we won't show that ad again." If the AF was ripped off by a consultant, I'm sure that will be addressed by the AF in its own way and probably not by making a huge public stink about it.
Sounds like Fast Forward Music decided to try and pull a fast one and got caught.
