Can't take the blame for this one! Boy dug himself a pretty big hole!

Michael Douglas has started to speak out about his son Cameron's recent drug bust and arrest. He tries to blame himself and apologize for his part in making his son the man that he is. Michael says:

"There were a tough few years in the Nineties. I lost my stepfather. My dad had that crash and then a stroke. There were the marital issues. Obviously I had issues with my oldest son Cameron. I'd been working too hard and my mother had cancer problems. It was coming at me every which way for a while. It gives you a deeper appreciation for when things are good. It would have been better if I had been around more. Now my son's in a federal prison. Any family who has dealt with substance abuse knows how devastating it can be. But he recognises his own demons and struggles. He has a lot of life ahead."

Let's hope some time in prison will straighten him out!

He can't take the blame for this one??????? Cameron was born to him and his then wife. They are responsible for forming a foundation for that life. When people turn out like they do, IT IS FOR A REASON. Michael sure needs you in his life so you can absolve him. Yes, Cameron did the things he did and needs to be held accountable for his actions and is. But you have a fucked up moral system Perez if it's all Cameron's fault. May God's Justice Be Done. Cameron got so fucked over. May God Be with Him Always.

he as a parent is totally to blame. who the fuck are you pig vomit to pardon anyone. common sense dictates that poor parenting will get you a total fuck up of a child. most parents now a days are selfish and letting their kids run wild while they marry and divorce and pursue their cock and career. Im sure the kid would much rather have the love than the birthday card with a check sent by your accountant.

    3. 3

Aww Perez you should start writing/visiting him in prison! Im sure he wouldnt mind you putting money on his books ! I mean since you care so much and all!

    4. 4

Time in prison for this little softy will mean being bent over–not straightening up.

    5. 5

there comes a point where as adult children u take responsibility and stop blaming mommy and daddy issues, u fuckers out there who are commenting what do u know? since when is parenting perfect? we all do our best for u perfect motherfuckers out there. u piss me off!!!!

    6. 6

Prison doesnt straighten people out it just fucks them up more!

    7. 7

damn his son is Sexy I live out this way maybe Ill visit him HA

    8. 8

maybe yeah, he should have spent some quality time with the children he spawned and not trying to fill his ego with how many broads he could bag…but we've seen how most celebritards rear up their children…poorly!

    9. 9

This didn't come on in his adult years only. That kid was lost and crying for help well before he became an adult. I know him from Pound RIdge NY and his father was never around….always in the tabs with cheating rumors etc. What kid can deal with that. I hope he does better with his new family. But he is taking the first step in accepting the blame.

He should feel guilty, He's spent his entiure life being a pompous, creepy ass. So in love with the fame and recogition that his family came last. Until he had a wife worthy of parading around Hollywood while he had a shit-eating grin on his facelifted mug.

A little late to step up to bat……

    12. 12

      Heloooooooo Absentee father!

    13. 13

Well, he did suck as a parent , so caught up with his OWN image and banging broads and having plastic surgery for his shallow self. But lots of kids have crappy parents, so now it's up to Cameron to grow the hell up .

    14. 14

I always figured that he son was banging Catherine Zeta Jones …

    15. 15

he's right in taking the blame in being a crappy father but he's not directly responsible for the bad choices his son made.

Michael can put his money where his mouth is here. It's never too late to put that time in, and in this case, that's when Cameron gets out, and for a few years after that until he's properly functional.

Both parents took a powder on Cameron when he was a little boy and a teenager. They parked him in boarding schools on the East Coast while the Dad lived in Los Angeles and the mom lived in Spain.

He was a poor little rich boy who got no attention. He grew up acted out and finally got his father's attention. his mom is a total narcissist. Where is she?

    18. 18

      Hey Prince of Santa Barbara,
maybe your son would have turned out better if you were home instead of nailing everything in sight.

    19. 19

Everyone already said it for me. Cameron's parents stunk.

    20. 20

Michael, don’t regret, enjoy the life with your son which you have at present. Don’t blame what you have done. You are the real hero of your son. God must be there.

    21. 21

THIS COUNTRY IS INSANE. THROWING DRUG ADDICTS IN PRISON FOR DRACONIAN PERIODS OF TIME IS CRAZY. GOD I HATE THIS COUNTRY!!

    22. 22

People end up the way they do for a number of reasons. Oprah technically shouldn't have succeeded, but she did. The point is, when u know better, u do better. Support each other in the right way. Value yourself. Have faith that life can change…

    23. 23

Mabey he should get a job and quite sponging off the old man!

    24. 24

Excuses excuses, he's an actor, therefore a selfish prick, just admit it you vain old fuck! If anyone decides to have children, those children should come first in your life. First before your parents, your career, your self!!

    25. 25

      Re: h8terboi
You so right my friend. And the death penalty in Asian countries is disgusting. Especially when it's a naive young mule, carrying a product that consenting adults are choosing to use. Then there's the corruption and blatant entrapment. Oh don't get me started. Hope you stay strong Cameron. Michael, just keep loving him and be there for him THIS time.

    26. 26

He gets jail time but Redmond O'Neal doesn't?

    27. 27

If you do not discipline your children, someone will. Whether it is a teacher, a principal, a police officer, a judge, or in the extremes a jailer. but ultimately, someone will discipline your children, and it is the PARENTS responsibility to do so.

    28. 28

being someone who was totally blessed by having amazing, supporting, attentive parents, i can attest to the fact that raising kids is NO joke and if you don't have the time or energy to raise them properly, then don't even have them. save yourself and society the stress of having to deal with your messed up children. i'm all for rehab and second chances, too. but people need to start thinking about these things before having kids, too. just pisses me off to no end.

    29. 29

yes, his son did dig himself a hole, and now has to take his man-pill. But, the parents are key in forming what kind of adult a child will grow into. Introspection on dad's part is good here.

    30. 30

Re: sparkys nemesis – Redmond O'Neil wasn't dealing meth — Redmond has simply been self-destructing.

    31. 31

Oh yeah Fake Perez blogger, time in prison does a world of good for people who are not hardened criminals when they go in. It's not like he's going to a retreat or something. IT'S FUCKING PRISON YOU ASSHOLE. I would love to see Perez's flabby ass in prison, although he's probably beg to go to a juvenile detention center.

    32. 32

Bravo! Well said my friend- I am glad there are people who "get it" around out there- Looking at Perez sometimes makes me think the world is as dysfunctional as he is

    33. 33

Michael and Diandra Douglas were a tabloid staple back in the day. Jet-setting, lavish parties, expensive mansions. And how they loved to drop names and brag about their riches. But I seldom recall reading about their children in those same articles. Just from reading this blog, it appears Michael stayed on the West coast while his son was educated at a boarding school back East. It appears the boy may've been neglected, overlooked.

I am a mother to one child, a son. I can't imagine long separations from him. Mike Douglas, you made some poor choices. You pursued Mammon, and now you are old and that phone is no longer wringing off the wall. Maybe screenwriter Joe Ezsterhas can write a script based on you and Diandra Douglas, a cautionary tale for our times.

    34. 34

He actually doesn't blame himself all he said is that he should have been around more, all the rest of the statement is him saying what a rough time HE had.

    35. 35

Re: Zgirl7 – agree on that, being a parent is the most difficult and rewarding experience a human being can have and should not be taken lightly

    36. 36

He should have thought of this years ago when he constantly cheated on his first wife. If you don't treat your wife with respect the kids will know it. Too late, Michael. You are a failure as a father and you have visited your sins on your son.
