We Are The World Premieres Tonight During Olympics!

We are the world…and we've been waiting!
Tonight, the wait is over as the We Are The World - 25 for Haiti video will debut during the open ceremonies of the Olympic games.
As we already know, mega-stars like Pink, Janet Jackson, and Kanye West are already included in the tribute but sources say that there are a slew of celebrities involved that won't be revealed until the remake airs tonight.
We're also told the video was shot in 3D and with green-screen technology. The latter will eventually allow viewers to place themselves in the throngs of celebs during the chorus.
Sounds like a bit much, but could be cool.

As far as not having anything to do with the Olympics I think it's more of a "We are the World" thing, besides you aren't going to find a bigger audience until the Oscars. But ya still a little shot at Michael, either way 3D??
Hopefully they worked it out so I don't have to have an epileptic seizure like the Grammy's 3D!!

no, up until 2 weeks before the remake, 'we are the world' was panned as one of the worst songs ever written. jackson and ritchie 'wrote' it in a few hours and it showed. some of the original singers were embarrassed about the whole song. The money was to go to famine relief in ethiopia. What wasn't told, was that food was sent to ethiopia, millions of dollars worth, from revenues of this song. Unfortunately, the dictator of ethiopia, Mengistu, saw that the food supplies never reached the starving people. Never wanted people strong enough to over through his regime. tens of thousands disappeared during the 1980s, he is happily living in zimbabwe. So while the intentions were good, how much actually went to good, it has never been said, because this whole thing, not big in the press. Don't know who was able to keep it quiet. Anyhow, this has the same makings-all about the song, what about where it is going, is anyone going to make sure it actually goes to help people and does not end up in some politician's pocket? wasted on BS. Supplies tied up at the airport or on things that are not really needed? We, as americans are great on that. Just look at madonna, opening up a school for girls while throwing people off of land they have farmed for 3 generations.

Ok, so it's for a good cause…that's about the only redeeming factor about this new version. Either I'm showing my age, or I just didn't like hardly ANY of the new featured artists in this song. I remember when the original came out, and it got annoying real quick after hearing it 100x a day, but it was a lot better than this version. The artists back then were a little middle of the road, but they displayed what a lot of today's artists seems to lack: TALENT. Wasn't fond of the arrangement, either. I did enjoy seeing Babs, although she seemed out of place and should have been in the 85 version. But again…for a good cause *Sigh*
