Because studios will do anything to take money out of the pockets of tween girls, yet another sci-fi, teenage love story will turn tricks as a movie.
Shiver, the young adult novel about a girl who falls in love with a boy who turns into a wolf every winter, is in the early stages of script development.
No cast has been selected, no studio has given it backing, and there is no chance in hell that Taylor Lautner is going to star in this. He's too big of a celeb for that now.
Besides, this sounds like it might be even stoopider than a sparkling vampire.

Yeah except this book is on the best sellers list….perhaps you need to read Perez. I heard its actually really good and a lot of people who have read this also read twilight….at most your right lautner probably wont do it, but its a good chance for another fresh face to get exposure.

Crap like this keeps getting published/turned into movies, despise that how bad they are. They are legitimate writers out there, writing interesting/original stories, but because they don't "appeal" to white teen girls, they're not being published.

This book is actually well-written, and a much better story than the trash known as Twilight. It's a shame it's being released after TWilight, and that so many people will make the comparison, but I'm stoked for it. I went to the author's website after I read the book, and she had just announced the movie rights had been purchased. When I left a comment to congratulate her, she replied. She replies to ALL of her comments. Not to mention that she's a first-rate writer with another fairly popular series of books. Please don't compare it to Twilight. If you were to read it, you would know that the only similarity is that the two protagonists are in love, and that there is a supernatural element involved. The characters are fully fleshed-out, unlike in Twilight, and the plot is exciting, and not contrived like Twilight. Boo on you for making a judgment, Perez, that will give everyone who reads it a bad first impression. And, just to mention, the main guy, Sam, is WAY sexier than Edward, and if they do the casting right, the actor will be WAY hotter than Pattinson.

This was a pretty good book, nothing like the werewolves in Twilight. There is a bunch more to the plot of the book than just a girl that falls in love with a boy that turns into a wolf.

Perez, you may actually want to READ THE BOOK before you pass judgement. Its actually a really good story with a meaning that goes deeper than werewolves and lovestruck teens.
Maybe you idiots should learn how to spell and not pass judgment on something you've never read. It's on many bestseller lists and it's a much better book than twilight. "Shiver" has nothing to do with the Twilight saga… maybe except the fact that it is a Young Adult oriented novel.
I loved the Twilight saga books, and really love "Shiver" too. It's really bothering me that every book of this genre is compared to what Stephenie Meyer has written… why always comparing one thing with another ?!

You guys can not be so judgemental when you haven't even READ the book. It sure does SOUND like Twilight, but in NO WAY is it the same. Some elements, but it is its OWN BOOK. I love this book to pieces; it just flows. And Maggie Stievfater is just so sweet, I love her spirit. The writing is indeed much better than what was done in Twilight, so just pick up the damn book THEN judge.

I started reading it and it was so stupid and so obviously copying Twilight that I stopped. Dumb book, won't go see the movie if it's ever made.
Maybe you should actually read the book before you start spewing your stupidity, Perez. Shiver is a beautifully written story, very different from Twilight. I'm a middle aged adult and high school teacher who loves this book. Maggie Stiefvater is an amazing writer as well as an artist. Do some research.

Shiver is one of the most amazing YA books i have ever read, try reading it before you knock it.

This is one of my favorite books!! It is in no way related to Twilight and should not be compaired to Twilight. It is completely different and is an all around great romance.
PAHAHHHHHH that made me giggle i got recommended this book off a "if you lik twilight you should definately read…" list off amazon. the story's decent not nearly as good as twilight but a bit boring/repetitive at times. doubt it will be any good as a movie but we shall see.

If you have never read the book Shiver, then you obviously shouldn't be posting your review on the matter. Shiver is not a book even remotely like Twilight, unless you consider anything to do with werewolves and ya adult, to be 100% twilight. If that was the case then Sherlock Holmes and the Hounds of Baskerville should stop failing, as should Underworld Rise of the Lycans.
Let's take it a step farther. If you make a generalization based upon just one source, then you're doing nothing more than being prejudice towards a genre or a group of people. Shouldn't we, as a society, be above that at this point?
But this is a celebrity blog and I hate that I'm even giving you a hit by being here. You should read the book then if you still feel that it's like Twilight, fine, that's your perogative. But making that assumption without even glancing within the blue inked pages, is beyond ridiculous and shame on you.
Maggie is an amazing author who is nothing but kind and generous towards her fans. Look her up, read her information, visit her blog. She goes out of her way not to insult anyone and interacts with fans and others alike.
You should take a lesson from her on how to build an online following. To me, you have haters and that's about it. I have no doubt as to why, at this point.

I highly recommend reading it - I'm absolutely over 18 and an avid reader and I loved it!

This writer can actually write unlike Meyer who wrote twilight taking a shit. Stephen King said it best the difference between J.K Rowling and Stephanie Meyer is J.K Rowling can actually write. But I say if you can get your kids to read twilight trash and lol even some adults read it with low comprehension skills.

This was actually a really good book. It was written MUCH better than anything Stephanie Meyer could ever pen.
Taylor Lautner could never be in this book because, if you read it, Sam (one of the main characters) is kinda' pale, has long black hair, with striking yellow eyes. The second installment in the trilogy comes out on July 20th. The only thing that confuses me though is that it's written from the point of view of Sam and Grace (the girl in the book; every other chapter or so was either written from Sam's point of view or Grace's) and I'm not sure how they're going to bring that to the big screen. I'm excited to see this, but I hope it's transition to theaters is a good one.

This book was WAY better than twilight. the main characters have a deep bond that's not base solely on looks. I realized that when I finished the book I didn't really have a clear picture of what Sam looked like (besides his eyes) which I loved Because Grace didn't harp on his features on every other page!
If they do make a movie, they should hire better actors.

I'm a Twi-hard and I just finished reading this book and it is awesome…so the whole competition thing…eh! A lot of Twi-hards are reading these books…as well as the Mortal Instruments and Hush Hush…and Fallen. Bring it on.

This is a great book and I am sure it will be an even better movie than twilight there are no sparkling boys or bad actresses named kristen stewart she wouldn't be able to play the female role…. Read the book before you judge it just because stephenie meyer hit it big and made paranormal romance more in the public eye doesn't mean she is the be all end all and everyone is following her it's been around long before her and will be around long after her. I love the twilight books but not the movies and so far stephenie isn't proving to do much else other than those books and one other with the host while other authors are still spitting out books.
