Desperate Housewives Takes On Cancer

How touching for cast member Kathryn Joosten!
Joosten, who plays Karen McCluskey on Desperate Housewives, recently overcame lung cancer learning she was cancer-free this past January and now her character on the show will experience a similar situation.
But Mrs. McCluskey's story will have a happy ending as well!
Even though she will announce that doctors have found a spot on one of her lungs, she and her boyfriend Roy Bender played by Orson Bean will take off in a car with Susan Mayer (Teri Hatcher) and Mike Delfino (James Denton) and get married!
Joosten at 70-years-old is working closely with the staff writers to ensure that all the correct information about lung cancer is given to the audience through the content of the show.
Good for her!

many blessings to her! she is great!
wow, what a strong woman.. real-life happy endings make me happy
You go Kathryn! I'm so happy for you.
Smoke that cigarette!
Awesome. Good for her.
Bravo Kathryn!!Its about time that a primetime show takes on Lung Cancer, the #1 leading cause of cancer death in the United States among every ethnic group… 1 in every 3 cancer deaths.
Great news! She's a very strong woman and very talented.
She is talented, lovely and basically a hoot….she will be in my prayers.
I want to be like her when the time comes, not in a rocker or playing bingo with the other condo commandos!!! She rocks!
You simply copied & pasted the statement so you should have put it in quotation marks. I know you never went to university but this is called plagiarism.
That's great that she's cancer free!! Sounds like a good storyline, i'm so glad they finally gave her character a love interest!
I would have thought she was a 70 y.o. male drag queen if you hadn't said she was female. I've never seen anyone ugly on that show until now. Obviously, I haven't watched it in awhile. But that's nice that Hollywood is apparently giving work to VERY old-looking women now, so at least they're not prejudiced.
Best of luck!
YAY congrats to her!!
stay strong, best news in the world
Re: PixiePeet – PixiePeet, you should be aware that ANYONE can get lung cancer including children and adults who have never smoked a cigarette in their life.
It has actually been found that 60% of people who develop lung cancer NEVER smoked or quit decades ago. Don't get me wrong, Don't smoke… but next time someone is diagnosed with lung cancer you know.. ask how they are first before asking the question they always get: "well, did you smoke?" That's like asking someone who just got seriously injured in a car accident " Well were you speeding? Then it was it your fault or asking a person with heart disease if they had a lot of fattening foods… not nice.
Lung cancer is the number 1 cancer killer — it kills more people annually in the u.s. than breast, colon and prostate cancers COMBINED - and yet it is the least funded.
get educated. - So glad Kathryn is making a difference!
