Precious Star On Vanity Fair Snub
Gabourey Sidibe of Precious fame and easily one of the breakout stars of the year was noticeably snubbed, along with other actresses of color, for the Vanity Fair 2010 Young Hollywood cover which featured all white young actresses including Kristen Stewart, Carey Mulligan, Amanda Seyfried and Anna Kendrick among others.
But Gabby didn't let her blatant omission get her down! She says:
“At first I thought, ‘Hmm, should I be there? Then I very quickly got over it. I think if I were a part of that shoot I would have felt a little left out anyway.”
“I would have felt a little like… whether or not I should have been there. [It] doesn’t matter, because I wasn’t on it and I’m excited to be mentioned anywhere, and it doesn’t matter to me where I’m not mentioned.”

No, absolutely not, she should NOT have been there. Firstly, she is practically playing herself in the movie. The recognition she has had for her "acting" is ridiculous. The recognition is purely guilt-based, it's a "hey, look! we don't only nominate skinny white women." Bullshit. Secondly, she shouldn't have been included because she's only been in ONE film, for fuck sake, one film and she's 26 years old. Everyone else in that group, like others have mentioned, have done multiple films that have either performed well critically or at the box office (Kristen Stewart, Amanda Seyfried).
Sidibe will disappear, she has a year, AT BEST, to milk this. The young hollywood addition is about women you will be seeing for the next 10-20 years. They are the next Reese, the next Julia, the next Meryl. Sidibe is just a fat black woman that had her fifteen minutes, making other black girls everywhere think it's perfectly okay to be morbidly obese and uneducated, because if you're confident, life will be lovely!

It is like Jenifer Hudson, for some reason every one was under the impression that she could act after one movie, just because she can sing good. And she was actually horrible in Dream Girls besides the singing. She was horrible in Sex and the City and she will never get a good role again. This said Sandra Bullock also has one of the most over rated performances in the history of Hollywood. She was at best, average. I can name 10 actresses off the top of my head that could have played that better.
