Sean Penn Continues To Help Haiti!!

One trip isn't enough for Sean Penn!
The humanitarian/actor, who has already founded the Jenkins-Penn Haitian Relief Organization as a means of raising support and money, is heading back at the end of the week to personally do what he can to provide help to a still-devastated country!
"This is the Apocalypse. This is like (the effects of nuclear disaster) Hiroshima. The devastation there is on a level like nothing anyone that I've spoken to has ever seen. We're within two weeks from the rainy season. People have in essence no cover. There are tent cities that are made from rugged tarps on top and sheets on the side. It's an incredible fire hazard. The camps are wildly overcrowded, a breeding ground for infectious diseases. So what has to happen in the next two weeks… is to try to relocate as many as possible. People are going to die in mass if we don't get those camps closed."
"The people are probably the most resilient - certainly the most I've ever experienced. We saw amputations without flinching, without anesthesia. These are our neighbours, and this is a country that needs us and ultimately we need them because the character of the Haitian people is seeded in a disconnect from the comfort addiction that so many of us in the country have - that's a powerful force of character and that we need to share. I'm going back. I'll be back in Haiti on Friday."
We're glad he's focusing his efforts on such a fantastic cause! Kudos are certainly in order!!

Kudos??? Doing his part??? What the hell is he doing except taking up the time of people doing the real work. Let him raise cash in the US and send it down there, but he needs to stay the hell away. Only people who want to get their hands dirty need travel to Haiti right now!!!!!!
hopefully he paddles around in his row boat wielding his gun like he did for Katrina
yeah, what is he really doing? don't you think mario, oh wait, you DON'T THINK. There are people working around the clock already trying to address this problem. you know, the u.n., volunteers. etc. Tents are Not going to work and they know this, if you bothered reading a paper mario. This was addressed right after the quake. BUT, They have no place to put these people. WHERE does he think we are going to relocate them?? big answers all the time from celebrities. BUT NO ANSWERS. THEY JUST DEMAND OUR MONEY AND SAY THINGS. Maybe you mario and sean and the rest of your 'hollywood'friends can each 'adopt' a family and bring them to your homes. So they will not have to live under a tarp. Cause Haiti is a bunch of rubble, remember? No one is going to be able to build anything in 2 weeks, 2 months, 2 years, for 1 million people. Where are all the building supplies going to come from, the builders and more importantly, haul away all the rubble ’cause people are still hanging around port au prince. thought wycelf was going to lead 'his' people out of the rubble. wyclef, another one whose mouth should be duct taped closed.
He's doing better than nothing.
It's unfortunate what happened in Haiti. But at the same time, there are thousands of homeless people right here in my own city. Just sayin.'
Gee, this is the same guy that got in the way of people trying to help in New Orleans while he was paddling around in a boat having people take pictures of him. Wow, these celebs are egotists.
I so agree with all but one of you. This is, as usual, about his ego. Sure he cares, but he also cares that he look like the humanitarian badge he wears on his chest all the time, except when he's tooling around on his yacht or cheating on his wife and family or cavorting with dictators. Maybe on the way back, he can stop in to see his friend Hugo and ask him why he shut down all the radios and tv stations in Venezuela that weren't gov't run, essentially ending any freedom of speech there, and why he had the army shoot those two young men and assure Hugo that as American he's not trying to occupy Haiti, cause Hugo said the US wants to occupy Haiti? Must be all the natural resources Haiti has? So Hugo will listen to Sean, cause they're big buds. Cause Sean likes theocratic and military dictatorships that kill their people cause America is bad, cause we have a "comfort addiction," cause all of us here get to live in the comfort and luxury that Sean does so he hates all of us cause he's so wealthy. Bet Hugo eats better than I do! He looks like it!
Sounds like a Good Man!
Can't He ever smile? Even with Madonna He never did!
A nice tribute to the character of the Haitian people. I'm glad Mr. Penn is able to use his wealth and connections to visit the country personally to help.
ANYONE who tries to help should be commended.
He's at least taking the time to raise awareness and making a conscious effort to ensure Haiti remains in the headlines (with the Olymipics it's already not getting the coverage it deserves). with the rainy season coming the spread of disease and death is bound to spread if we don't continue to help. More celebs should show acts of selflessness like Sean instead of caring about the new club that opens in Vegas.
Sean Penn Rocks!! Politics aside, he is truly an amazing human being. Giselle Bundchen - gave $1.5 mil. Sandra Bullock - gave $1 mil. Brad Pitt/Angelina Jolie - gave $1 mil AND Angie even goes to Haiti……. Are you kidding me? Where the eff is the "African American Community????" Yes, Wyclef Jean and some Haitian Sports figures have gone there and are still going strong. But, come on!!! Beyonce and JayZ made over $120 mil in 2009 alone and a Super Model puts them to shame? How many sports figures, Musicians, Actors have more than enough money that will never be spent in 20 lifetimes? Chris Brown could use the Positive PR. Get your ass to Haiti dude and do something for humanity! Shame on these sports figures and musicians and actors that earn $15 mil a picture. Sean Penn was in New Orleans in his own boat rescuing people from the 9th ward. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have been rebuilding that area in a major way. Get in your Bentley's and drive your asses to your bank, or have your assistant do it in their crappy Toyota do it for you and do something to help Haiti……Thank you Madonna for $250,000 donation to Haiti and all you are doing in Malawi. Thank you Oprah for the schools you are building as well and all you've done in Africa…. Oh and thank you George Clooney for helping to put Darfur on the map. So happy to see the African American Community doing their part there as well…NOT!!!
Re: FastTalker – I agree.
Re: hateliars – hahha I agree. But i dont think perez can afford to adopt a family from there. please dont call perez a 'celeb' or part of hollywood when he is just a wannabe
Re: Kimble – yes people can help both Haiti and USA. Why is it that people 'think' help is only exclusive to one particular country? If people really wanted to, they can help both their own and others out. My money is not exclusive to one country or people. just sayin..
This lying, cheating capitalist JERK is nothing but a rich hypocrite pretending he "cares"
All he cares about is getting his buddies at the New York Times to glorify him
He's a loser and a dim wit.
Where is all the millions that have been raised? I can see it's not going to the people who need it. Just a big con if you ask me. Most money is going to the corrupt government to buy luxurious homes in the bahamas. It sickens and saddens me.
Don't care for Sean,but I'm glad he's helping.
Those poor people! Imagine if that happened here.
I would sure as hell want someone to help me.
People can't say what they want about celebs, but many of them
are generous people who are always the first to jump in and help others.
I love Sean Penn, he's doing a lot more than some people. At least he dosent stay home and tell people to help Haiti, but he goes there and help. You people might not like him but he's a great humanitarian and noone can criticize him for that. And as for that person who refered to African American celebrities i do agree with you, we hear about all the celebrities that gave money charity, let's hope they did give but chose to remain anonymous. The only one i've heard was that P.Diddy gave $10000 which is a slap in the face of the Haitians and a shame. What a fucking jerk proving that's all he could afford to give to charity.
So! He is another leftard Hollyweird wanna be actor who did not give a rats ass about Haiti before the earthquake. Once the camera leave the Hollyweird loonies will leave too. Disgusting jerks!
Re: naima – WHAT IS HE DOING???? Going there and getting his picture taken is not doing something. There are limited flights in and out of that country. His plane could have been used to ferry a group of doctors or food supplies. I'd rather he stay home and write a check.
He's really become an extraordinary man. Considering his possible futures and the tragic fate of brother, Chris. I'm glad he's focusing his energy on something productive.
@1giggles1-you know what, fuck you. The disaster in Haiti was a human one, not just about black people. Black people did donate to Haiti and continue to do so. What the hell does race have to do with anything? There are plenty of celebs, white and black that have donated to help Haiti.
Illiterate post, as usual. Time to hire a high school graduate, you fat fool.
Those who bash Penn or any others, celeb or not, for humanitarian efforts, just don't get it. Help is help.
Re: 1giggles1 – george clooney was not the only one to put Darfur on the map. Maybe you have forgotten about his costar form Oceans 11-Don Cheadle, who starred in Hotel Rwanda. He along with george received a Summit Peace Award.
