Disney Tells Sandra Bullock To Eff Off!

When rumors swirled that one of 2009's biggest hits, The Proposal, may spawn a sequel, Disney gave a very curt answer: NO!

The Mouse House only wants to make big money blockbusters that include merchandising in anything that they already own (i.e. based off of Disneyland rides, characters from Marvel or Pixar) or the $30 million project with cheap young, breakout movie stars.

"Everything in the middle is toast," divulged a producer on the Disney lot.

This new business model came after the studio's CEO Robert Iger publicly admitted that 2009 was an embarrassing year after they put out such flops as Confessions of a Shopaholic, G-Force, Surrogates and Old Dogs.

Iger states:

"The value to our company of a really high-quality, successful Disney/Pixar — and down the road, Marvel — film is going to be a lot greater over time than any we could create from a non-Disney branded, or non-Pixar or non-Marvel film. That is where we are headed."

And in order to pay for the $10 billion Disney spent on Pixar and Marvel, Iger decided that their films need to do better than hits at the box office, they need to sell a shizload of merch. We don't know how they're going to improve! In 2008, Disney sold $30 billion worth of licensed consumer products!!!

It's definitely business savvy, but it's also too bad the American public will be inundated with Disney's creative mediocrity (sans Pixar, we hope)!

They'll be fine! People would buy Mickey Mouse toilet paper if they could! Sigh.

Disney goons pulling up at the Perez offices *burnt out car body under a bridge* to beat him to a bloody pulp for 'Misuse of the Mouse'

It's weird though, "The Proposal" made a bunch of money and she is now an Academy Award Nominee, sounds like a pretty sure hit for them.

      Creative mediocrity?
      Sans PIXAR we hope?
Are you kidding? Pixar and Disney made the best animated films for the last 20 years!

Sandra BULL-DYKE is one pushy LESBIAN, ain't she?

why would it need a sequel? you know they ended up together do we need to see them get married. sometimes if fine to just leave it at one movie.

The Proposal does not warrant a sequel. The movie was just OK. Think Miss Congeniality 2. It sucked. Disney must have some executives on its staff with brains…for a change.

      Hi. Disney Cast Member here.
      1. Tarnishing the image of the mouse is a big no! no!

      2. Disney is a company. First and foremost an entertainment company. Yes. The Proposal was a hit. Hilarious! Loved it! But the story ended. Their characters have no where else to go. You can't make a movie when the characters have no place to go. And yes, G-force was bad. Very bad. But the kids I know loved it and they still sell the merch at the stores. And my BOSS has a point. The Proposal will probably go down as one of the nest comedies of all time. BUT the studio that made it is a subisdary company that Disney owns and Disney's focus is Disney related products (movies, merch, Hannah Montana, etc). It wasn't Disney's The Proposal. The movie didn't carry the Disney name strictly speaking. It wasn't Disney's The Proposal.

Before you post something about a company, Mario, please check the facts. While the Proposal's funding came from The Walt Disney Company, the story was over and the characters had no where to go AND it's not strictly Disney branded.
