Glee Injury!

What a trooper!

Lea Michele, known around the world now for her role in Glee, has been suffering through some rough routines as the rehearsals have left her with damaged back muscles.

Um, aren't you only 23? Is this normal for someone so young? We don't think so!

Rather than take it easy for awhile, Lea is forging ahead with the show, as she says the experience is worth dealing with the pain for. She explains:

"We all did this one dance number a couple of weeks ago that was extremely gruelling. Now I have back spasms every so often. I'll be talking and be like, 'Excuse me a minute,' and my back will just spaz out. And then I'll be fine. But we ignore it because we're all just happy doing what we do. We don't pay attention to our injuries."

You're going to pay for that later, bb! We think once the show goes on hiatus and before you go on tour, you should take some much needed rest. Let that back of yours enjoy a relaxing afternoon or seven.

And speaking of that Glee tour you and Cory Monteith mentioned a month ago and have not talked about since, keeping fans anxiously waiting for news while also finding a way to cope with the show not even being on the air - when is it????

Poor gal! Hope she gets better

    2. 2

      That's unfortunate. :O
Being so young is abnormal, I'm 19 and have back muscle spasms at random from a car accident a year ago. :[

    3. 3

she has awesome legs. good for her

    4. 4

I don't think there are age restrictions for pulling muscles, Perez.

    5. 5

      Poor thing.
      GO! CANADA GO!

    6. 6

Poor stupid Perez. You can injure your back at any age. Who writes this stuff!

    7. 7

My daughter is a dancer & champion high jumper ergo supremely fit - her back is a litany of nasty injuries…wtf does age have to do with anything???

    8. 8

"Is this normal for someone so young? We don't think so!" So what are 'we' trying to say? She had to be in a threesome with two big football players who hung her over a balcony while fucking her three ways to Sunday?? You're, rather your consortium, are as always full of shit.

    9. 9

its not that abnormal…im 15 and i have severe back problems (fractured vertebrae and herniated discs) and there are a lot of other kids i know who have other back problems from over-exertion from DANCING and sports

    10. 10

Perez you are showing your stupidity….lets see you dance like that ( remember how many injuries we have seen on Dancing With The Stars?)

    11. 11

relax is not the answer. I have back spasms all the time, if I knew than what I know now, I would have been working it out all the time, not hard, but kept those muscles going. if she relaxes during down time, she will go back and hurt herself again, and again….sucks,, sucks sucks

    12. 12

do you have to be a catty bitch with every post you make?

wait sorry.. a JEALOUS catty bitch?

    13. 13

What's the latest on she and Neil Fifer? HAWT!!!

    14. 14

She would feel better if she took a good quality Magnesium supplement each night before going to bed with a full glass of water.

    15. 15

I'm 23 and sprained my back 2 weeks ago working out. IT SUCKED. All of a sudden my whole back went into spasms if I moved the slightest bit. I was alone in my condo and was screaming and crying because it's uncontrollable. After 2 weeks it still isn't 100% and I feel like an old lady :( I feel for her. No one understand a back injury until you have one. They're debilitating.

    16. 16

she looks older than 23..??? Back problems at any age stupid.

    17. 17

Actually Perez it is possible, I pulled muscles in both of my ankles last year during a week long rehearsal before our opening night, injured and all, the show must go on,

    18. 18

Oh, Perez — yet again you prove yourself to be an uneducated moron. How old do you think someone should be to injure their back? The young aren't invincible, you twat — especially those who are athletic.

    19. 19

i remember when i was 12 i had back spasms, from falling on a trampolline. i couldn't ride my bike… i was pissed

    20. 20

Wow, Perez, you've moved on from being a Gynecological expert to being an Osteopath? You're so full of shit. Yes, back problems happen at any age, so does CANCER and a myriad of other health issues. You're not a doctor, so shut the hell up.

    21. 21

Don't even talk about what's normal or not when you have no Fing idea.
My back completely spasmed when I was only 15yo. Age has absolutely nothing to do with it.

    22. 22

Can you just not comment on injuries or medical conditions? "Is this normal? We don't think so!" You don't know, you aren't a doctor and educated in the slightest about that kind of stuff.
Many MANY people her age and much younger suffer from this kind of thing. You are, once again, a moron. Keep it up, bitch!

    23. 23

yes this will no doubt bother her much more later! She really should have her back checked! Hopefully someone tells her to after this was posted ! :( Poor Bb!

    24. 24

Re: SammiDe – Wow. You don't think she sees a doctor? You think she needs Perez to tell her? Wow. You must be Perez's target audience. I am no longer reading this crap.

    25. 25

Love the show, and her, and am sorry for her poor back, but–I'm not sure it's "not paying attention" to an injury when you go public with it.

    26. 26

My dear Perez, I am 16 and my back is worse than that. I haven't been able to lie flat on a floor or bathtub since I was like 8. My lower back is a constant problem, not to mention I am always conscious of the place that if I move the wrong way (Which means turning in any way) will spasm. Back pain has no age limit…. Unfortunately I know that first hand and I sympathise with Lea more than most could understand.

    27. 27

God whoever writes this shit should be shot. A Trooper is a police officer i.e State Trooper. You want to say Trouper which is a reliable hardworking noncomplaining person. People need to be hired who have some sort of basic grasp of the English language.

    28. 28

      That sucks =(

But you can never be too young for back injuries, I injured mine pretty bad when I was 14, slipped a disc out and sprained the muscles and such.

    29. 29

      owwwwwwww! poor lea :(

    30. 30

she is so cute and her legs are fuckin awesome

    31. 31

It's not like she's having degenerative problems or spinal problems… we're just talking about muscle spasms. Perfectly normal for anyone who undergoes intensely athletic training (something Perez wouldn't know anything about) and absolutely, 100% benign.

    32. 32

aww i feel so bad for her!

    33. 33

I DON'T USUALLY USE CAPS -HATE THEM, IN FACT- BUT I HOPE THIS GETS TO HER SOMEHOW. I ALSO HAD "MILD SPASMS," AND BEING A WORKAHOLIC LIKE HER, JUST DECIDED TO RIDE IT OUT. DUMB, DUMB, DUMB. IN MY CASE, AND IN A LOT OF CASES, WHEN YOUR BACK MUSCLES SPASM IT'S BECAUSE YOUR NERVES ARE TELLING YOUR BRAIN YOU HAVE AN INJURED MUSCLE. YOUR BACK THEN SPASMS TO LET YOU KNOW YOU ARE INJURED. THEN AGAIN, YOUR OH-SO-HELPFUL NERVES -AGAIN- TELL YOUR BRAIN THAT YOU ARE INJURED AND YOUR BRAIN SENDS YOU ANOTHER SPASM TO LET YOU KNOW YOU ARE HURT. IT IS A HUGE CYCLE THAT CAN TAKE YEARS OR A LIFETIME TO CORRECT. Okay, think maybe I got my point across. I know this because this happened to me at 25 and I've spent $35,000 and five years of my life trying to correct it. I was told flat out by my first doc that if I had just gone to a hospital when it first happened, they would have sedated me, given me a muscle relaxer, and given me time to let my muscles generally say "Oh, we're okay now, we can stop spasming." But I DIDN'T. I thought I was a trooper and kept going to work. See a doctor, bb -please!

Re: missourimedic – Where do you get your info? I have been having chronic spasms for years with no obvious initial injury. I don't know if you've had full back spasms or not, or are just one of those people who think a "backache" can't hurt that bad, but your info is still wrong. When my back spasms I need help getting out of bed. My husband cant touch my back without me screaming. On these days, I cry like a baby and am so ashamed of myself for being so weak. But, as my husband pointed out, someone with 3 tattoos, a tongue piercing and 2 others, is not a "wuss." I sincerely hope that you are not spasming, either. I wouldn't wish that pain on anyone.

    35. 35

      Re: FaeRae

Lea has tweeted that this was a few month ago and it wasn't that bad. She is fine.

    36. 36

Re: jaymcb – Thank you! I get too passionate about this because I know the pain involved. Glad to know she's okay. Thanks again.

    37. 37

It happens, unfortunately, to any age. I'm only 16, and missed school for a back muscle issue, so yeah.
