Borat Almost Hosted The Oscars
Now that would have been inneresting!
Apparently Sacha Baron Cohen was suggested to host this year's Academy Awards — a suggestion that producers The Academy shut down immediately!
Producers Bill Mechanic and Adam Shankman both agreed that Cohen should host the Oscars in what would have been quite the show because we're certain he would have appeared as one or several of his alter egos including Ali G, Borat and Bruno.
But as soon as the came up with the idea says Shankman, "the Academy swatted it down. They thought it was too big of a wild card."
Well they went with quite a BORING safe choice in Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin. But maybe they'll surprise us!

Almost hosted the Oscars? How do you almost host the Oscars when the idea was shut down immediately?
I almost hosted the Oscars too, but security didn't let me in the building to plead my case!

I think having two host is horrible but Sacha Baron Cohen would have been so annoying. I wish they would do away with the host and just get to the awards.
to be honest, I think Cohen would have been the best choice!! he's hilarous! I personally would have watched it if he was hosting. I dont find Steve Martin funny and same with Baldwin….. BORRRRING
I like Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin, but OMFG, I LOVE Sacha Baron Cohen. Bruno on the Oscars would have been too cool.
That would've been too ridiculous for Oscar night, IMO. Dressing up as Ali G or Borat might work for the MTV Movie Awards, but not for the Oscars, where things are a bit more high class.
I would've gone with Cohen if he didn't play any of his famous characters however & just used his natural charm to host. That would be a very interesting watch.

i think its going to be really good. but sacha baron cohen would of been funny, but not for the oscars.
God forbid they make the telecast comical, entertaining or interesting. That would have been great.

I'd rather see Pee Wee Herman host it. The show is boring to begin with and those two old guys will really bury it-I guess they know their audience-big sleep-fest!
