LOL NBC probably should have held off until the Olympics were done. I mean the Olympics are doing a great job of making people forget especially with all the randomness going on….NBC when will you learn let it die down first.

Also this is NBC not Jay. Sure he did the commercial, but how does that prove he disregards Conan. I like Jay better than Conan there comedy is totally different and some prefer one over the other.

Yeah, I picked up on the smugfest commercial a couple days ago. Doesn't make me ever want to watch him again, not like I ever did… but he's gonna catch shit for being a smug winner. (As if Conan isn't going to turn out as the REAL winner?)

Its not a diss on LENO. Bottom line: NBC screwed up first but Conan didn't help matters with his shitty ratings. NBC could have carried him a few more months but pressure from affiliates gave them no choice.

"I Hate Beyonce!!" has got it 100% right. Leno was number one for many many years. NBC got greedy wanting to keep two great talents. Instead of letting one go, they screwed both Leno and Conan.

I do my best not to watch NBC (I'm not watching the Olympics), but I will not watch a single thing Jay is on again. I'm ashamed I watched this video… but I had to see for myself to be able to make a decision.

Celebrities are going to start thinning out since Jay isn't held in high regard anymore. I don't see it as the 'place to be seen' for new talent anymore. People used to work their asses off to fulfill their dreams of being on "The Tonight Show". They knew they would be seen. Now, it's a night time soap opera.

Re: dvsinla – Your are not very bright. If you read the industry trade papers..which i did back then..they said that his contract was up and other networks were trying to entice him to leave nbc…then nbc..decided to lock him up by offering the tonite show under a specific time table.
Even jay leno did an interview…as did one of the nbc mgrs in print..go look it up..saying that they themselves were hearing too much buzz about the courting by other networks to get conan..that they went to jay and said we want to give conan your show and move you to a smaller show earlier.

heck jay even said that word for word on oprah….so if jay knew that, the public knew that….oprahs audience knew that…

its Conan's fault. he should have asked Jay FIRST if he wanted to leave the Tonight show. Jay would have said no, so Concan could have stayed on at 12:30…or gone to a different network.

Leno's 9pm show (and the poaching of talent for the 9pm show killed The Tonight Show with Conan. Leno also threw thousands of people out of work by insisting on getting this show and pushing 5 good dramas, including Southland off the schedule. Sorry, folks but Leno has a history of being in the middle of these disasters. He deserves much blame.
People have short memories. Leno took years to get decent ratings after stealing the show from Carson and from the rightful heir, David Letterman. Now he steals it from his rightful heir, Conan. Conan was given only a few months. Leno has no talent, steals from everyone else, and laughs at his own lame jokes. He's the past. Another selfish baby boomer who accepted retirement, then whined when it didn't go his way.
Conan won the 18-49 demo, the demo that advertisers care about. Leno has aged out of that demo. The Tonight Show with Leno back will fail, attracting only the old farts. Big mistake NBC, and Leno's reputation as a smug, self centered manipulator is sealed.
