Saving Abbey Road

Andrew Lloyd Webber is the latest celebrity to come forth and say that he wants Abbey Road studios to remain a working recording studio — and he's said to be willing to foot the bill!
EMI is rumored to have rejected an offer of £30 million, so Andrew would have to put up quite a pretty penny to save the studio where he has recorded for many of his musicals. The West End king has a £750 million fortune so he can certainly afford it!
But another viable option is having The National Trust purchase the studios at the urging of Sir Paul McCartney and UK DJ Chris Evans. The National Trust already owns John Lennon's and Paul McCartney's childhood homes.
Dame Fiona Reynolds, the director general of the charity explains:
"We were absolutely bowled over by Chris Evans, Sir Paul McCartney and other people saying the studios really needed to be saved, and could we help. The answer is only if people really want us to and only if they help us. So I really want to know what people think.
"Not just The Beatles, but Cliff Richard, Pink Floyd, Radiohead and Oasis. Maybe they can help us because they are the kind of people who have huge affection for this place."
The National Trust has already heard from the United States and expects to hear from Japan as well to extend their support in purchasing the property.
We'll have to see what happens, but should this really be as big of an issue as its becoming considering other charitable efforts that could be taking its place?
We say let Andrew foot the bill!
What do U think?

Awesome, i hope they save it…Piece of history there.
"But should this really be as big of an issue as its becoming considering other charitable efforts that could be taking its place?"
What's with that moralizing shit? Second or third time this week Perez comes up with this thing. To what charities are you donating, Perez? When will you say how much you gave to Haïti ?
I can't believe Paul McCartney, encouraging a charity to step in and save it when he's sat on all that money…
National Trust!!
Come on, rich celebs, buy this place for the National Trust, or it will be GONE!!
Considering the amount of money ALW is blowing on his misguided Phantom of the Opera sequel he should probably be careful. There's been a huge amount of negative backlash against that show and he's sunk a lot of money into it. £750 million is a ton of money, but if he throws hundreds of millions around recklessly then it won't last long!
It sounds like a bidding war. Come on Paul put up some of your own money. Do not put a burden on a them. Andrew Lloyd Webber rules.
The National Trust should go for it. It's a piece of history and should be valued.
How cool for future generations to be able to see it?
Granted I'm a History major, member of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, and a huge Beatles fan. (:
Also…I wouldn't count Paul out in the contribution department.
They don't always make things like this public.
WOW! I'm ashamed to say that I'm a bit torn over the issue seeing as I HAVE to be the BIGGEST Beatles fan, EVER! With that said….every ounce of my basic human nature says, There's way more important things to be spending millions & millions of dollars on. I mean, HEY, to each their own. It's Paul's money, It's Ringo's money, It's Andrew Loyd Webbers money & they earned it & should spend it anyway they freakin want to. But I can honestly telly you know that one of the reasons I LOVE LOVE LOVE Paul McCartney is because of what his music has taught me. And that is simply…..LOVE. And it would possibly give me a mixed view on him (not his music) if he were to donate millions to save something so materialistic when he could be donating more of his millions (as if he hasn't donated enough) to helping MORE people in need. Confused? I am. Either way….I LOVE THE BEATLES & EVERYTHING THEY STOOD & STAND FOR. KEEP THE DREAM ALIVE!
F**K! this makes me so mad…
I agree it should be saved but why doesnt paul and ringo just drop a weeks worth of cash and buy the place themselves?
'Save' it? Sir Paul could buy it and bring it back to life himself, and give back to future music legacy that gave so much to him by mentoring young artists. Hire someone else to do it if needs be, and they can answer to him. He can't tour forever. Give. Back. Help a starving musician. Give the world a future with some decent music. Please.
I f I had the 20 mil, I would buy the damned place. What's wrong with these douche-bags??
